This is the second horrendous experience we've had with 1AB Taxis. We pre booked two taxis several weeks ago for a family get together. We have a young baby and needed to guarantee we could get home. We were ready for collection, waiting on the doorstep. At our arranged time the phone rang once and hung up but no sign of either taxi on the street. We waited and waited. After 15 minutes we rang the 1AB to be told that WE were no shows and that there were no available taxis until nearly 3am and hung up on us. We called up to explain that we had a young baby and could not possibly wait until 3am and asked them to investigate what had happened to both drivers as we had booked two taxis. I was placed on hold and after a minute they hung up. After that they stopped answering any of our calls. We were left stranded on a freezing December night by this company who clearly were prioritising shorter journeys and profit over the welfare of its customers. Very unhappy. Going to Great North Run so booked Taxi for 7.30 to get the 7.55 from Darlington. The taxi didn't turn up until 7.45 so we missed the train and as a consequence had to stand in the next train all the way to Newcastle. Instead of apologising and offering to help in any way the driver blamed the company and said it wasn't his fault. The least he should have done is a) apologised unreservedly and b) waived his fare or c) taken us to Newcastle. Note to file: if a taxi is booked for 7.30 that means 7.30. read more

Usually use this company twice a week, without problems. Cheap and quick service ( usually ). However, yesterday they were ten minutes late for a 5.15am pickup ( one which we have been booking for weeks ). This meant my girlfriend was late for work and received a telling off for this. No apology or discount given by the driver. On the same evening, we had booked an 8 seater minibus for an event we were attending. Unfortunately due to unforseen circumstances my girlfriend and I were ten minutes late for meeting the pickup, and the driver was sat waiting, with our other friends waiting inside the minibus. I had phoned ahead to one of my friends to pre-warn the driver of our late-ness. The driver then decided to add a further £2 onto the already agreed quoted price for the minibus, due to our lateness! The cheek! Did they knock money off for making my girlfriend late for work? No! So why charge more when I was late? Seems a bit unfair.......... read more

We had a permanent booking with this company for a 4 journeys per week, we have now cancelled due to non arrival and late pick ups. Will NEVER use again under any circumstances. read more

Normally reliable. However booked a taxi today at 17.00 for a 18.15. Completely failed to turn up. Five phone calls later still no sign of it. Staff trying to tell us it had already arrived - well it may have turned up somewhere - but not where it was supposed to. Staff unhelpful an unconcerned that I was now going to have miss 19.01 train to London. Which I did. Thanks to the understanding staff at Darlington Railway station I could travel on the 19.35 without additional charge (1AB you should be grateful you will not be getting a bill). Perhaps the staff at the railway station are used to people turning up late when they have a particular mini cab company. Will not be using them again. read more
