This sculpture is located on the UIndy campus in front of the Louis Schwitzer Student Center. It is part of UIndy's Sculpture Walk, sponsored by Fifth Thirds Bank. You are able to pull up a map of the 20 plus sculptures online and make a day of visiting each piece. There is a small placard on the ground next to the sculpture that has its name and artist on it, along with a QR code that was meant to be scanned and would give you more information about the piece. This sculpture is the creative work of Barry Barnes and each of its segment are treated as an individual canvas. It is made of stoneware clay and the detail that Barnes employs is amazing. It had to take him months to complete this work. I like this sculpture, even though it is called a tower, it has a totem pole vibe. And as I mentioned, the detail put into it is very impressive. The sculpture has six segments in all, not including the cement base and the bowl shaped cap piece. So, you can live on the wild side and do the same or you can find one of the guest spots that they have around campus to park. Being that the sculpture is located on the UIndy campus there is a lot of parking available, however, most of it requires a parking permit. I just parked in an open spot, got out and took a closer look. I was not in the spot long. As with most sculptures that I have visited and reviewed, this is probably not a very long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other wonderful pieces of public art on campus, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip.
