We had our car towed yesterday to our home by Dakota Towing. It was delivered in the afternoon to our driveway. My 13 year old son opened the back door to get in the backseat to look for his AirPods, as we have been without the vehicle for a week. as he hopped out and began looking beneath the middle seat, the car began rolling backwards - startling the hell out of him into a panic and nearly running him over. He even ran behind the car himself to try and stop it as a reaction because he had no idea what was happening- cars don't typically move on their own like that!!! It rolled back and crashed into our other vehicle shattering the window and door and mirror on that car. My son came running and crying in the house to get me. My 16 year old son was in the driveway and witnessed the entire scene as well - how does a car just roll on its own when you have the back door open?? When I got out to the driveway I was shocked and confused!! I opened the Drivers door - and the car was still clearly in park, so HOW DID IT ROLL??? At first I didn't notice, because I typically never put the E-Brake on myself unless I park on a hill, however when a car has a broken axle, as this car does which is why we had to have it towed - the E-Brake needs to be engaged. THE E-BRAKE ON THE CAR WAS NOT ENGAGED and that is the explanation for how it rolled and caused the accident. When the car was delivered to my driveway it was not left with the E-Brake on. I wasn't planning to leave a review at all. When I got my emailed receipt that night it asked for feedback. I sent a message stating the driver forgot to engage the ebrake and it crashed into my other vehicle. That was all. I didn't ask for my money back (which any good business owner would refund at the least) and I wasn't even rude about it which I easily could have been because obviously we are the ones left dealing with pretty expensive and hefty consequences of the negligence of their employee. I think I was beyond fair towards them. However, I received a message back in all caps saying "THIS IS FALSE INFORMATION! CALL US!" Needless to say, I didn't go to bed very happy being told that the experience we were currently living through wasn't real and being called a liar. To top things off when my husband called this morning to talk to them calmly about it - they could care less. A decent business owner would apologize sincerely for what happened at the very least, and consequences for their driver should be put in place. But they basically called us liars. I don't need your 150$. I'm not that hard up. But I do get really tired of people who are jerks. When you mess up, own it. You guys messed up. Not impressed Dakota Towing. You have Zero Integrity. A sincere apology and better customer service skills where you take a few minutes to actually treat people with dignity and respect would get you a lot farther in business and in life. This could have gone a lot better from the get go had you simply chose to respond to my message the first time with ,"That's terrible! I sincerely apologize for the accident. Please give us a call in the morning so we can talk further." As opposed to the other route you chose. PS We also were told the car would be picked up at 12. We waited 3 hours. Just putting all the facts out there so other people can choose wisely. read more
