They have a stores in HK Island, Kowloon and New Territories but the one I visit most often is at New Town Plaza. The style of clothes here at Collect Point is generally quite girly and pastel. You'll see a lot of light-colored floral prints and lace, but that's not to say that it's only for the girly girls! I've seen accessories with studs and come winter time, bold leather jackets, so you can kind of get something to suit a biker chic look too. You can find a fair share of basics here - plain t-shirts, tanks and cardigans come in a variety of colors and the quality is not bad. It at least beats H&M - I've bought so many tops there that have since ripped miraculously! I've been eyeing a pair of high-waisted denim shorts from there for a while. Collect Point does pretty big sales from time to time, so in the meantime I'm just waiting to see if they do go on sale! One thing I don't really like about Collect Point is that it's permanently kind of crowded. There's almost always a line for the changing rooms and it doesn't help that there are only two or three cubicles! Last year at around Chinese New Year, Collect Point went on a store-wide sale for about two weeks straight and during then, it was hard to even move around in the store, let alone try anything on! Overall, I haven't bought many things at Collect Point, but I love dearly the items that I have gotten from there, like a thick, wooly scarf that's pale blue and has some grey scripture written all over it. If you're a fan of Japanese fashion, you can't miss Collect Point!

This Uniqlo is at New Town Plaza on the…read moresecond floor, which is actually one level below the main floor of the mall and MTR Sha Tin Station entrance. This store is moderately sized so the selection is decent. However what I don't like are the insane crowds here on the weekends. Really difficult to get around the store here. Like I said above, I like their products. Specifically their basic product lines like AIRism and HEATTECH which offer functional clothing at reasonable prices. AIRism is perfect for HK as it keeps you comfortable on warm weather days which this city has plenty of. Although there was large crowds, the line to pay was orderly and the service here friendly in spite of the chaos. If you live in the NT, this Uniqlo is perfectly fine. Just plan accordingly since this store is at New Town. It might be better to go to another store just to avoid the mall crowds here.

The Zara in New Town Plaza is located on the third floor, aka the busiest floor as that's where the MTR station is. It's right opposite Gap, and both stores are normally equally crowded. It doesn't help that it's near the area of the mall that is linked to Phase 3 of the mall and Sha Tin Centre and Sha Tin Plaza, as this just makes it even more packed with people who are walking to or from those places. The Zara here, for some reason, is permanently crowded. On weekdays, it's crowded. On weekends, don't even think about coming. It's impossible to get a good look at clothes because there will always be someone in your way. The lines for the changing rooms stretch a mile long, making it hard for people like me who insist on trying anything on before buying to purchase anything. Not to mention that the air conditioning is really weak here! Recently, they rearranged the front section of the store so it's a lot more spacious than it used to be. Possibly the only redeeming factor about this Zara is that the kids' section all the way in always has a load of clothes on sale - think as low as $49 for a tee. Somehow, I find the clothes at this Zara quite a bit tackier than Zara normally is - if I went to the Zara at Central and made a list of all the stuff I liked, I probably wouldn't be able to find half of them here. I think it's because this mall is frequented often by mainlanders due to its proximity on the East Rail Line, so the selection of stuff, to be honest, is a little on the tacky side. I normally skip Zara when I'm at New Town Plaza. Even if I found something I liked, I wouldn't have the patience to stand in a line for half an hour for the changing rooms.

The place is a riot of colour, and mesh tutus. If your little girl is a bit of a tomboy who only wants to wear her jeans and a T-shirt you'll be able to cross the threshold safely! Probably. Maybe. Otherwise, stand well back, and step away slowly ... If you can. This street is renowned among ex-pat mothers (I'm pretty sure the 'locals' love it too but I'm not connected to too many on Facebook) as a source of cheap and cheerful outfits for little girls who are going to grow out of anything before the next Disney movie comes out, and this is a good place to start. Of course keep your eye out for inappropriate, or just plain wrong (not always the same thing) English language on dresses and T-shirts - although lets face it, sometimes that's half the fun ... especially if they are going to be gifts. Don't for a second think you're safe on the 'shoe' side either! I only just managed to escape without purchasing a pair of pink Dora the Explorer sandals (with flashing lights in the soles). There's a pretty extensive range of children's footwear - boys and girls - on offer and at prices that mean you won't be for-going your daily coffee fix to fund a new pair when the little dear has outgrown their favourite Thomas the Tank Engine sneakers in a matter of weeks. I'm going to be heading back again when the current crop of shoes no longer fit - I just hope Dora and her disco lights have sold out.
