While the bus is cheaper and good for people who are afraid of heights, it takes much longer, about 50 to 60 minutes. The mountain roads are also very winding, which can make some people feel dizzy. My husband and I rode the Crystal Cabin to see the Big Buddha on our last trip. Since it was our daughters' first time in Hong Kong, we really wanted them to try it, too. They do have regular cabins without clear floors, but none of us are scared of heights, so we happily chose the glass-bottom one. We bought our tickets early on Klook. It was much cheaper than buying them at the gate. We also chose to visit on a weekday, which was a great choice because it was not crowded at all. I still remember our last visit ten years ago was super packed, and people had to wait in huge lines just to get on. The cable car ride takes about 25 minutes each way. We only bought a one-way ticket this time because we wanted to visit Tai O Fishing Village afterward. It was a fun, smooth, and beautiful 25-minute ride. We loved looking down at the green hills, seeing waterfalls, and watching the Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastery come into view. Surprisingly, it was not hot at all, and it felt pretty cool up there on the mountain. It was truly amazing!

No where will you get a full view of the Hong Kong airport (unless you decide to climb up a mountain). This is my second time visiting and still very memorable and worthwhile. We got there around 10am on a Saturday and purchased tickets at the gate and didn't have a wait. Weekend tickets are more expensive, but we didn't have a choice with our schedule. I opted for the crystal glass cabin which I highly recommend for that full 360 degrees experience. The cabin has a clear glass bottom. The line for the crystal glass cabin is significantly shorter than the standard one too so avoiding the wait alone is worth it. Each one way ride is actually longer than I thought it would be so well worth the price. There's of course the giant Buddha to see at the top. There's also a few hiking trails. There are a lot of restaurant options at the top, but I suggest having lunch at their vegetarian cafe by the monastery- it's unique and delicious .

True, be honest, I spent quite a lot to take care a car, especially the parking fee is so heavy in Hong Kong, and I don't drive every day. However, once you find a place where your car can bring you easily, everything is worth. There is a cool place in Tsing Yi you can have a perfect view to two of the most stunning bridges in our city, where is hard to go without your own car. Drive yourself and park in Lantau Link visitor center, the carpark is always empty and nobody pay the parking fee. Follow the instruction to walk to visitor centre, then you can see the entrance of viewing platform is just few meters away from the door. This platform is a free public area in the top of Tsing Yi, and after you walk upstairs around ten minutes you can have almost 180 degree to view the whole Tsing Ma Bridge and Ting Kau Bridge. You can easily spot Ma Wan and Lantau Isalnd following Tsing Ma Bridge, and can take a look to Ting Kau and Sham Tseng from Ting Kau Bridge. The platform is a beautiful place to relax and capture sunset pictures, and of course, to view the fireworks (if there is any) at night. You can stay there as long as you wish, enjoy the beautiful lookout to the bridges, harbor and the islands. I've been here several times and there is always no one, feel like my private rooftop and that's probably a main reason why I love going so much.

As the highway is…read morebuilt along the ocean, it is beautiful enough already; and the fact that since 1997 the Tsing Ma bridge has finally opened for public use, the view is even more spectacular. Normally I would only drive through it but last year I was at the Standard Chartered Marathon (and one more thing to add on my can't-do-list), I finally got to run, or maybe walk is more accurate, on it. It is said to be the 9th longest span suspension bridge in the world that links Tsing Yi and Ma Wan together. Thanks to this bridge, it is definitely an advantage for people who live in Tuen Mun to go to Hong Kong Island and the airport much faster. It was a nightmare back then without this and took ages to get there... I strongly recommend tourists not to take the airport railway (yes it is much faster but you are missing out), the bus route goes on this bridge where you can have unobstructed view of the ocean on the west side and skyscrapers on the east side; and during the evening, there are colour-changing lights that are bound to blow your mind. There are also visitor centres located on the Tsing Yi side that lists out the construction and the history of Tsing Ma bridge, however as I am not an architecture fanatic I guess I will pass. Anyways, it is really hard to take pictures here as it does not open to public unless it is marathon season. I suggest to do so when you are on the bus; if you are lucky, you might just get a nice shot of it. Now I still recall the night when it first opened for public, it had firework on both sides of the bridge. So memorable. That's the sight I will never forget.

Not surprisingly, it was awarded a prize in 2010, called the Supreme Award. The design was picked by the Highways Department of Hong Kong through a competition but it was further developed by Arup, a British company. Its architecture is unique in Hong Kong and if it looks awesome from afar, it's even greater when you're driving on it, as you realize just how huge it is. There are three lanes in each direction and it's about 1,6 Km. long (second longest cable-suspended bridge in the world!). There are two main towers made of concrete and composite through which the cables run and this is the distinctive feature of the bridge. As with every other construction in Hong Kong, during the design, a lot of though was put into the winds impact on it and this issue took a lot of time in the planning of the bridge. It's become a landmark in Hong Kong, not only for its features but also because of its functionality, as it connects West Kowloon and Hong Kong International Airport. For me that was a great discovery, because I could not only arrive to the airport in a shorter time than I had planned, but also because it's great to drive along such a great piece of engineering.
