You can write about a radio station? Didn't even know that…read more
The fact is that Hong Kong is a small place has never stopped us from becoming a hub for media- we have 4 local free tv channels, 2 major paid tv operators and just too many print media to start counting. Radio wise we are quite limited in terms of choice as the bandwidth are taken up by 3 operators- CRHK, RTHK (government funded) and Metro radio. You can say CRHK is probably the most commercial out of the 3 (as its name suggests) and the stance that it takes politically means that most young people would choose CRHK. CR1 is more formal in that it is a more information dominated channel, airing news programmes, debates, phone-ins and generally caters to a more mature audience (with the exception of after hours when the two channels play the same programme).
CR2 is probably the one that most people would listen to- its the entertainment channel where you get new songs, celebrity interviews, game shows and so on. I was an avid listener of CR2 back in my school days when the channel just always seems to be in tune with the things that teeangers would be interested in. The reason I say this is that I have gotten to an age whereby once I tune into CR2 I just don't seem to understand what they are talking or laughing about- which is one more sign to tell me that I'm getting old.
In all, without digital radio or online radio stations, CR2 would probably be the best choice to be entertained- provided you understand today's new trends and topics.
