There are four buffet tables for:
- AYCE marinated meat in all sorts of flavours
- AYCE sushi!
- AYCE soups, fried foods
- AYCE ice-cream, drinks, jelly, cotton candy machine, cakes, some fruits
OK OMG where do I start, because that's exactly what I thought when I sat down. Let's start with the most boring:
SUSHI
there is sushi in the back, 3 pieces of California sushi, 6 rolls of imitation crab sushi, 6 rolls of salmon sushi. There are two staff making sushi and sashimi is dinner only. There's cold salads, soba noodles, some other salad with a lot of dressing, two gigantic bowls of lettuce, a whole tub of wasabi
SOUPS/FRIED FOODS
one pot soup of the day (minestrone soup), 6 spring rolls, 10 pieces of fries, smelt fish with tons of eggs, 6 pieces of dumplings. Some fried fish (garlic and some other one). Kimchi and side dishes.
The above is truly as sad as it sounds. But honestly you come here for:
THE MEAT
- marinated pork chop
- pork belly
- pork belly with herbs
- pig ribs
- honey BBQ pork
- pork intestine with black pepper (I didn't eat this)
- chicken fillet
- chicken wings
- chicken wings with herbs
- beef with soybean paste
- diced beef fillet
- ox tongue
- basa fillet
- mackerel
- marinated mini octopus
- squid tentacle in curry
and some others I didn't want to take photos of.
VEGETABLES
- mushrooms (enoki, French, and oyster I think)
- lettuce
- corn
- pineapple
- orange thing that looks like cheese
DRINKS
- fresh lemon tea (doesn't taste packaged)
- fresh plum juice (doesn't taste packaged)
- soymilk (cannot tell but doesn't taste packaged)
DESSERTS
- 6 tubs of ice-cream (no red bean, no green tea)
- coconut jelly, jelly with herbs, jelly that looks like lego
- chocolate fondue tower with two big bowls of marshmallows
- chocolate lollipops
- COTTON CANDY MACHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And whatever else I miss because my memory can only hold so much. There is a lot! For lunch 4 people, we each paid about $140. They add service charge to the bill.
SERVICE
OK maybe it's just my luck but they are extremely nice! They were patient, they reminded us that we need to eat by 3:45pm because they need to close the tables soon. The cleaning ladies were worried we didn't eat enough!!!
THE RULES
you eat for exactly 90 minutes. When your time is up, they come and pick up your plates and turn off the fire. However because we arrived at 2pm, our 90 minutes ends at 3:30pm. Sushi counter closes at 3:30pm, the rest closes at 3:45pm and the restaurant closes at 4pm. They reopen for dinner later. Technically we had more than 90 minutes because 3:30pm meant no new customers can come inside, they just let us take our time as we roast our marshmallows in the fire!!!
ZOMG THERE IS A COTTON CANDY MACHINE!
