Every time I fly back to the US, I take the 2345 flight from HKG to LAX. The flights have always taken off from either Gates 3 or 4 which means every time I've flown home, I've always stopped off and grabbed a drink from Pacific Coffee. They speak English. Most vendors at the airport. They accept all forms of currency and even have a sheet listing the currency exchange rates. They serve hot and cold drinks as well as some foods. FYI - if you're flying back to the US, though you already passed through customs, you'll have to discard any bottled liquids on your carry on or your person as they will confiscate it at the gate as you pass through a second security check before boarding. The staff has always been friendly. The teas and sweet drinks (I don't drink coffee) has always been fine. I've never had the food because on the late flight, a meal is served as soon as the plane reached cruising altitude. Stopping off at Pacific Coffee has become a ritual for me now. If Yelp existed in Hong Kong before this year, I would definitely be a regular. If not the Duke.

Got several tins of the panda and penguin cookies as gifts for the kids back home. Taste wise, these cookies tasted a bit like shortbread cookies . . . VERY DRY shortbread cookies. Would definitely need a large glass of milk or a mug of coffee to help these go down. Although, to be honest, we bought them primarily for the cuteness factor not the taste. Their convenience, good value and good selection make Kee Wah a great place for food gifts (and snacks) when you're in Hong Kong.

The Chinese desserts definitely beat the western desserts in the level of sugar they contained. 奇华's desserts aren't that sweet; the sugar level is just about right. All the desserts here including but not limited to sesame biscuits, egg rolls, and walnut cookies are really soft and fluffy. 你可以感觉到你吃了真正的芝麻, 蛋白曲奇(有鸡蛋和牛奶的香味),以及核桃酥里的核桃. It was better than Thai durian though still not that strong. Using local milk seems to have lightened the flavour. Cheese was good. The custard had a very rich & savoury cheese taste with a salty-sweet flavour profile. The cheese was so rich, the richness of the crust didn't matter.

The merchandise they have here in Hong Kong is what I'm really here for the selection of drinks are is outstanding and just makes perfect sense, the plushies, umbrella and totes are just so irresistible. I really did want to order the current Halloween seasonal Black Sesame Frappuccino drink but there was no time but am so delighted to have able to find some unique merchandise found only in Hong Kong. The service is delightful and quickly got me on my way as this location is steps from Tsim Sha Tsui and the Star Ferry which is nice as they have decent amount of seating with nice cozy decor so that you're able to take a leisurely break. This Macanese bakery company is one of the only ones that has HK locations. Although I did go to Macau on my last trip, I bought from bakeries that didn't have HK locations there and saved my Koi Kei purchases for here. They have bulk deals, such as having discounted prices for buying multiple packs of the soft peanut brittle. Since I had plenty of family to appease, I took advantage of the bulk deals. Their soft peanut brittle is excellent: chewy, not too sweet and has a wonderful balance of peanut and the added flavor (coconut, black sesame, etc.). I'm not a huge fan of Macanese almond cookies (traumatic experience as a child as I vomited after eating one) but they are pretty good here. The gift boxes are presentable and pretty, and definitely makes for a nice present for someone not in the area. All the treats are beautifully wrapped or packaged. Service is a little aggressive, as they'll try hard to make you purchase a lot. However, being polite and having the wherewithal to speak Cantonese goes a long way. There was an option of a discount with buying multiple but I couldn't carry that much so I stuck to just the almond cookies. They really were wonderfully crisp and slightly buttery but other than that, they were not strong on almond taste. There were just sliced almonds on top. It's a nice snack that's not too sweet but it's not a type of cookie I would crave. I wish I knew what the shop was really known for. I should have asked!

There are multiple stores in Macau and from what I could tell, the prices were the same even if you were closer to the ferry. There are boxes of cookie, jerky, etc samples throughout the store and the employees are typically a little pushy to get you in and looking around. I think it's because that's half the battle. Once you're in and you try a sample, you'll walk out with full yellow bags of goodies! Highly recommend: Walnut and peanut brittle which was very light and crunchy vs the American version that feels like you're going to break your teeth! At $15 USD for a generous size box and gorgeous packaging, it was a great souvenir. We got packaged jerky instead of the fresh jerky that you can buy by the pound. The employee said it was the same but the packaged ones come in little 2" sealed chunks. Instructions say to heat it up prior to eating which resulted in a smoky microwave and super hot napalm covered jerky. Pineapple cakes: get the big box. Tender and almost crumbly cake / cookie outside and pineapple filling; you can see the chunks of fruit! Absolute perfection. Shortbread cookies: comes in multiple flavors. My son loved the chocolate chip the best. Some of the packaging at Kee Wah looks similar to Koi Kei but they are not the same. Both are good but Koi Kei is top notch. Can't wait to visit again!

One thing I do not understand is that the items in the HK Koi Kei is way more expensive than the Macau Koi Kei. I suggest you get it at Macau. Also the Macau Koi Kei is crazy packed full of people and HK Koi Kei is very quiet. I mean of course if you do not want to travel to Macau then you might as well get it here. I do enjoy their products!
