There are many reasons why I like this place, and one reason why I LOVE it. And that's their nuts. I'm a big fan of them and cannot stand the expensive tiny packages that supermarkets carry...A colleague of mine told me about Prizemart and my life just got better.
Prizemart not only has big packs, but they are fairly prized and the range is great (although I've seen that it varies a lot from one outlet to another). They usually have pecans, walnuts, pistachios, almonds, cashew nuts and macadamias in boxes of 2.5 lb or packs of 3 lbs from 120 to 160 HKD, Kirkland branded mainly.
Second most favorite items are coffee (they have Trung Nguyen instant coffee!) and canned tuna and sardines, usually from places like Spain or Portugal. Besides some dry fish and meat, the bulk of their products is made up by sweet bars and chocolates. They also come in big packs and a great part of the shop space is devoted to them entirely! You can also find some dairy (milk and some flavored yogurts) but they don't have a refrigerated area so you won't find fresh food.
Most of the outlets I've been to look the same way - don't expect anything supermarket alike, but it's tidy and it's really easy to spot the bargains, which is the whole point of this story.
In a nutshell: big packs, low price, generally good quality...great alternative for some items on your grocery list. read more
