The service was quick and prompt, and the servers were great at making recommendations. I came here in the winter so we sat indoors which felt a bit cramped however, there is also outdoor seating during the nicer weather months. If I'm ever back here in Istanbul, I would definitely come back. And if you're reading this, you NEED to try the Old Ottoman!

It's a small restaurant hidden inside the fish market near the Taksim Square. Even though It's a very small restaurant, but their food and service are amazing. The staff there constantly check on you, refill your water, change your silverware and dishes, and make sure that you have everything you need. The food was really good, specially the beef teka. It's was so soft and yummy. When I asked about their secret, they said the dip it in milk for a whole day. One funny thing I noticed was that they have a big no smoking sign inside the restaurant, yet all the customers there were smoking. I'll definitely revisit the place again before I leave Istanbul.

After two days having some great meals in Istanbul of that type, we looked for something different. Not far from Galata Tower, GK is on a side street with little foot traffic. It has a big modern sign back off the street and one of the operators saw us hesitating where to enter and waved us in from the front entrance. Inside it has whimsical and funny decorations and serious books mounted on the wall, but is not atmospheric, more like a diner. BUT the food is displayed in a case, hot and cold entrees separated, so you can see what you are ordering. You pick what you want and they assemble your choices on a plate and bring it to the table. Hot entrees included chicken bites in a tomato sauce and chicken with onions, lamb stew and beef and plenty of salad and vegetable choices in the cold display case. The group of men running the place that night were low key but personable, answering our questions about food items and Turkish literature. Service was prompt but understated and helpful. Our group of four had a great time and the menu is diverse enough that everyone found choices that pleased them. But remember, we came in expecting something very good other than doner kebap and were not disappointed!

I highly recommend the chicken kabobs, juicy and well seasoned. Also enjoyed the margaritas, stiff and not overly sweet. Staff is pleasant and attentive. The views are unmatched in the evening. Make your reservation in advance to secure your sunset table. The inside is nice and classy but I simply adore the open air views from the roof. The birds really set off the skyline and you can see several of the mosques around. Not SUPER expensive but it is in the higher end price wise compared to their surrounding competition -- 100% worth it in my book. I will definitely go again on my next visit. Glad I could introduce it to a friend this go round. The only thing I disliked about this place is the "dining dome" as I called it. A portion of the roof now offers seating in a large plastic dome. The dome is scratched up and obstructs the view of the city but does protect diners from the wind. I was not a fan of this dome. I'm sure it's something someone saw on the internet and implemented .. Beş Bıçak Steakhosue is a meart heaven founded by 5 tough young men. The venue is located very far from us and center of Istanbul. When we asked the reason of this they told us there are not any venue in this region with a right taste and quality and that region needs a qualified venue. They have preferred to become the biggest in a small area instead of becoming a small option in a big region. The venue has been designed exactly as steakhouse concept. The inside area was very chic. They have a wooden bull head work with tide effect on the ceiling which we have not seen like that before. Dry aged meats were demonstrating in a nice fridge. Grill section was in a visible area but they do not bother you in sitting area. You can easily watch the how they cook the meats. We tried a lot of kinds as small portions on the evening of we went. Starters and warm starters; Zahter salad: It was a salad kind that we have never met in any steakhouse before. Its taste was balanced nicely. It was successful and very matching with the meats. We completly finished the salad plates. Smoked beef with cheddar sauce: They are preparing in a hot pot in front of you. Thanks to the taste of cheddar cheese we cleaned up our plates. They should decrease only the level of salt. B&B sausage with halloumi: The sausage prepared by themselves was delicious. Grilled oyster mushroom: It is a common taste for many steakhouses. They cooked it in a juicy and tasty way in here. It was the best one among the we have eaten before. As main course; Lokum: It was very soft like its name. We finished it in a short time. B&B Beef Special: They were the meats like döner cooked very shortly in the grill. Thin cut meat lovers will definetly love it. Dry aged entrecote: It was the most successful meat kind among serving ones. Its consistency and fattiness was superb. It should become the first choice. B&B Lamb Special: Grilled back meat of lamb are slicing and braising with fat in hot casserole. We loved the presentation and the taste as lamb lovers. Lamb Shoulder Tandoori: #tandooriislife. Its taste and consistency were perfect. We totally cleaned up it. You must watch the moment of extracting the bones from meat. B&B Burger: Its fattiness, taste of the meat, made from minced meat without sinewy, its breas and its sides. It was a wonderful burger with its everything. We ate local pistachio flaky pastry with icecream as dessert. Its taste was successful but it should be harder. It was softened a bit because of icecream. If they serve the icecream in a seperate cup it would be better. Service was successful, prices were affordable, ambiance was nice and also taste was good. If its location is appropriate for you there is no reason not to visit here. Do not miss their signature products starting with B&B.
