Lovely small restaurant and one of my faves in Clermont. Typical local Auvergnate food. I ate here…read moretwice during my stay in Clermont and really truly enjoyed both meals. They were amazing exquisite and food was prepared perfectly. Meal number 1 I was recommended by a dining colleague that to try the terrine. They bring you the whole loaf out with bread and you can sample and eat as much as you so desire. Also served with the terrine are small pickled gherkins pickles and olives. Awesome appetizer. Then I decided to have the Mediterranean seafood salad. Super filling and loaded with Seafood. It was decadent and downright amazing. Meal number 2 Indecided to go with the terrine again and then a steak with blue cheese sauce. They asked how I liked it cooked and my reply was the chefs recommendation. Man.....This was the best steak i had been served while in Clermont (I believe I ate it 3-4 times in a month). Huge serving, juicy and delicious. See folks some guys can eat steak every meal. Im more of a seafood guy so for me to say the steak was amazing really it was superb. The blue cheese sauce on the side was a great add touch. On both visits the restaurant was quite busy and the people working the tables were running everywhere. They looked a bit exhausted and service was a bit slow but this is typically how French restaurants run. See dinner is not a fast meal. It usually takes 2-3 hours. I'm more one who prefers a faster meal. These however are my NA habits. Overall a superb restaurant. Come check it out and hopefully you are not dissapointed.

Great place to dine close to the city center. Very diverse menu with a very good steak. Last time I…read morevisited, I ordered the special of the day Salmon dish. It was cooked perfectly, not overdone like many restaurants.

I had the terrine de foie gras. Always a favourite. It was a good portion with a fig jam. It was the best part of the meal. My main was pizza, Reine. The toppings were good but the crust was chewy. Good service and very polite. An enjoyable meal but not memorable. Probably a 3.5

Faison Dore has the red awning and Li Lion is the green awning distinguishing the two places. On my time here in Clermont I've eaten here three times. The pizza really is fantastic. On my first visit I had one of the pizzas (can't remember the name) with cured ham and olives. Cheese was generous serving and the pizza was overall awesome! Serving size is quite huge and delicious. Also, if you don't finish it they will wrap it up for you to go. Secondly the salads are equally delicious. They are big servings, fresh veggies and very filling yet you have the feel that you consumed something healthier. Both visits I selected the Cobb salad as it came with a generous serving of blue d'auvergne chicken, lardons and loads of veggies. The inside of the restaurant has that sort of grotto feel to it. Yet it's warm and cosy. The outside terrace- patio is great on nicer days yet beware as this is where many smokers will go and park themselves. Overall if you are not bothered by the smokers it's a great experience! Food is a notch above Faison Dore next door.

Pardon que la revue est en Anglais…read more We wanted to try this place, as it seems to be the only true vegetarian restaurant in the area. It has very limited hours in the sense that it is closed by dinnertime. So, you can only come for breakfast or lunch. We came for lunch, and my bf made a rez, as he heard that it gets busy. It was a good thing because, when we arrived, there was only one table open and it was the one that we had reserved. I read the other review, so thought I should balance it out a bit. So you can decide for yourself when you go. I speak very limited French, so I was mostly relying on my bf to help translate and fill in the blanks. Our waitress noticed, and said that she speaks English, if that would be easier. I very much appreciated that I was able to discuss the menu with her in English. Their options are limited, since they prepare everything based on the local ingredients available that day and in that season. As such, many items will be repeated for several days, but then they might change as the offerings and seasons change. We had the beet and ginger soup as an entree. The color of the soup was a lovely magenta, and you could taste the underlying pungent ginger flavor. For le plat principal, I ordered the salad with phyllo-wrapped veggies, and my bf got the salad with the tomato quinoa (I can't eat tomatoes, so I was glad to have the alternative option). We both enjoyed our meals. The food was definitely not packed with flavors; but it had the clean and pure flavors of the originating veggie or grain. The service was pretty quick, but not rushed. We hung around for quite a while after the lunch rush and ordered the gluten free lemon-poppy cake and gf chocolate chip cookie. Both were very delicious. They clearly mark which pastries are gf, vegan, and vegetarian, and have many options. So - I'd say, definitely come here and try it out. And I recommend making a rez if you want to go during prime time.
