The big yellow sign and ramp into the store are very welcoming, as are the staff. Taua helped us out, and was so great. Since we don't speak portuguese and since he doesn't super speak english, we settled on our common language of Spanish. We came in cuz the boyfriend needed contact lenses while traveling. Taua set us up with some great monthlys that just came out and are super moisturizing. He explained the difference and was very knowledgeable. You don't need a prescription or a test, just know your prescription and they can check if they have any in stock. While we were there, we eyed some killer frames and each ended up getting prescription sunglasses. Otica Dimesao has a killer selection of awesome frames (regular and sun glasses), no matter what your style. Other shops seemed to carry only aviators and raybans, but Otica really had a wide selection. Taua was super friendly and patient, and in the end we ended up super happy. Would gladly recommend them for anyone staying in Rio long or short term for your eyewear needs.
