I wish we had one of these in Stockholm!…read more Swappis has a brilliant business model - one which I've seen plenty in the US, but not in Sweden. It's a thrift shop, sure, like any other - but not like any other. You can donate your clothes here and get points to shop with! Basically, if you bring in your old clothes then you get half off on the new-used items here. It's a lot of fun - the shop is colourful, kitschy and vibrant, and when I was there it was haphazardly sorted after decade. They use old records and lamps and posters in their décor, and even the dressing rooms are glamorous. It's a true treasure trove, with a lot of junk but great gems as well, like any second hand store. And the atmosphere and opportunity to swap in your old items makes it a favourite for me! I found an adorable 30s-looking floral dress, probably from the 60s or 70s, but definitely with vintage flair. It was 90 kronor - just 45 if you drop off donations. How can you beat that? Hopefully they open in Stockholm soon!

Maybe twice as many choices of jam, but a lot more of each one. It's a ways out of town, but not too far from Flogsta. From the huge parking lot, feels like a car destination. It's also close to a Systembolaget, so you can stock up on groceries and booze on the same trip.

A cool and inspirational design shop in the heart of Uppsala…read more Urban Collection sells stylish items from e.g. Hay, Nicolas Vahé and Tom Dixon. The store is super nice looking, and you can even improve your shopping experience with a fresh cup of coffee - made with their own espresso machine! The staff is as cool as the shop itself, which unfortunately sometimes means ignoring the customers. Nevertheless, the atmosphere there is lovely, the layout of the shop is beautiful and the items sold are very nice. If you are not able to go to Urban Collection by person, you still have a chance to do it virtually: their webstore! No coffee, but the same beautiful items to buy.
