Best place for festival and connect to the Puebla Cathedral. It is one of the kind park in the city. And park connected to commercial district. Perfect place to visit. The park is big with fountain statues dedicated to revaluation and broken chain the broken to the freedom to farmers. We visited the place during Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos). The whole place is crazy. Festival in the park continues. The kid came out to be treat with candy. The street performers have their own show on the four corners of the park. Display are amazing. The best part of the festival is to dress up. Love those people have permission to take photo with them. They are the true hero. Definitely is one of the best. Many Catrina around the festival to protect the bone. The festival has colorful them. The dress up. I hope they treat this like the Halloween. Keep the traditional alive. read more

Puebla's town square is an incredibly lively place to watch the world go by. Although it's the center of activity, the park-like atmosphere is a respite from nearby streets. The incredible architecture of the surrounding buildings, especially the cathedral that flanks the north side, makes me wish I could take this zócalo back to Los Angeles as a souvenir. read more

Very nice Zocalo A bit smaller than I imagined but that's no deal breaker. This area offers a lot.. we came for New Years and it was wonderful! There's a beautiful church next door, wonderful hotels, restaurants in & outside. Tourist busses and a lot of beautiful architecture. Such a wonderfully beautiful public space in the center of Puebla! This town square, or Zocalo is the main meeting spot for the entire city. There's always something going on here! Everything from marching bands to political demonstrations, there's going to be something happening here if you stop by and check it out! The Zocalo is a traditional meeting spot, where people come to sit, play, talk, and just hang out. Lots of street performers, protesters, and kids just come out to be here. There's lots of public art, a fountain, and many restaurants that line the plaza. Huge trees give plenty of shade, and lots of picnic benches allow for a lazy siesta in the shade. The Zocalo is laid out in a traditional way, with the big church on the west side of the plaza, so the sun shines in through the stained glass windows early in the morning, allowing you to stop in early for a quick prayer. Then, on the opposite side of the plaza are the town's governmental buildings, allowing the elected representatives to hang out late into the day working on municipal projects. There aren't any restrooms here, you're going to have to go into one of the restaurants here to use the bano if you need one. Please don't be like the parent I saw instructing their kids to pee on the trees here. Things feel safe here, as there are a lot of police hanging out here to make sure that things go smoothly. There are some vendors selling balloons, handicrafts, and some pan handlers begging for a bit of change. But the best ones carry a calliope, or a marionette. This is the center meeting point for all tours, expeditions, and other touristy things in the city. Everyone in town knows where the Zocalo is. While you're here, be sure to check out the gigantic church on the west side of the plaza. read more
