This is my favorite restaurant in Baumholder (note, I've only been there for dinner). The environment is charming and very welcoming, the bar is nice and they play sports on the TVs. The menu has a nice variety of options, and the prices are extremely reasonable. Perhaps the best attribute about this place is the extremely friendly and fun owner and awesome staff, they make it a fun environment! I recommend the escargot, French onion soup, any steak, and the salads (I like the grilled steak salad the best. The only thing missing from this spot is dessert- but I guess it's more of a beer and steak or schnitzel kind of a place! Busy on the weekends because it's so good, but feel free to sit at the bar! read more

So far I have eaten twice at this restaurant...Great Place to get some GREAT German and American food. Highly recommend the short Ribs.. Cooked on an open flame right in the restaurant, these ribs hit the spot! Highly recommend the ribs. The Rahmschnitzel was also great..and you get a large portion for your money. I would have given this place 5 stars however they don't serve Hefeweizen on draft :( If you are ever in the Baumholder area.. this is a must restuarant to try out. read more

Fantastic. One of the best places in Baumholder! If you find yourself in the Rhineland-Pfalz area it's worth the trip. Highly recommended!!

All I can say is the ribs are finger licking. It takes minute to cut all those ribs down to eatable size, but it's worth the effort. I go here every time I'm in Baumholder. Great staff and very friendly. read more

I drove here with some fellow Soldiers who recommended this place. After a hell of a week at work, it was worth every penny. The steaks were juicy, smokey, and cooked to perfection. The ribs, OH MY GOD! Crispy, meaty, smokey and all around perfect essence of pork. Wash it all down with some beer off the tap and a glass of wine, couldn't ask for anything more. The staff was friendly and accommodating. My only qualm was getting a drink was a little tough at times. I will be back for more and hungry! read more

One of the best places to eat in Baumholder. Their BBQ plate is a must have. Their fire pit is in the dinning are which gives it a very cozy feeling to it. read more

Most amazing BBQ ribs cooked on firewood grill. Staff is very polite and welcoming. There is Nothing like this restaurant. Highly recommend

Our experience here results in us NEVER eating here again. To start with the food is not nearly as delicious as we had been told. We had the ribs and while the rub was very good the ribs were tough and dry. My husband had a T-bone steak (we will come back to that in a minute) and he said it was not seasoned and rushed. The staff was the biggest problem for us. We had a small incident where my 8 month old daughter who was restrained in a seat pulled back from the table about 10 inches pulled onto the floor my husbands meal (T-bone and baked potato) almost as soon as the waitress sat the plate on the table (the plate was not completely on the table) while my husband had made a quick trip to wash his hands. After quickly washing up my daughter, the staff left me to clean the floor, and the chair and then the owner came over. His suggestion was an insult to any patron as he stated "we can just wash it (the steak) under water and put it back on the grill". ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? THAT IS DISGUSTING! That was my response to him. At first I thought he was joking to make light of the accident and the obvious stress but come to find out he was more than serious and stated that "if you do not want to just wash it then it is on you" so we told them we would like another one and then they charged us full price for both steaks. The thought of having my husband eat a steak that had been on the floor, then rinsed under water, and grilled some more was nauseating! This was not the only issue. We had to ask for EVERYTHING we needed, an extra plate (twice), napkins (there were NONE provided), a to go box and each time I had to get up to find someone to ask. We ordered french fries and never even received them. I was so upset about being charged 2 times for a steak that I didn't bother to look if we were charged for those too. When I told the owner that we would not be back he quite pointedly said "I don't care". read more

Certainly the best ribs in Germany! I have lived 12 years throughout southern and western Germany. By far Stadtkrug has the tastiest ribs and BBQ sauce! The wait is long for the ribs to cook, but an excellent opportunity to chat and drink a cold beer! Five stars for Stadtkrug! read more

Best ribs in Germany! Great spot with a unique, warm atmosphere. Met Dan Rather here in 1995. Love the way they open cook their ribs.
