A flying machine ala Leonardo a metal vulture ala Salvador Dali on mexican Molly, totally artsy. People are cool, just beware when sitting at the bar, sometimes the patrons take too much advantage of the all day happy hour Monday for €5.40 a cocktail . And the open buffet. Twice a Day Monday. Mexican food. The bar is a steal of you come from the US. And the bartenders are totally awesome and will not hesitate to you they will murder you if you keep drunk-screaming at him. You go!!! Totally will be here a lot. Also, richtig super bar, mit viel character. Tolle Bar. Komm ich bald wieder.

Yeh - it was OK. According to my local friends this spot is as good as it gets for Tex Mex style…read moregrub in Munich. In that case being the best relative to other options I would give them full marks. That said, in comparing it to traditional North American style Tex Mex it wasn't my favourite meal that I've ever had. Atmosphere and ambiance wise it was definitely a cool place to be, and very popular with the locals. The inside packs up early (especially as the weather gets colder) so arrive early or make reservations (if you can). The patio is huge and covered, it had heaters but they were turned off so we had to resort to using the complimentary blankets provided on the patio to keep warm. For my meal, I went with a Burrito and it was underwhelming overall. The flavours in by bad tex mex standards were really off. Hard to put my finger on it but it wasn't what I would have expected. To give you an example, I've never had zucchini in any Mexican food ever and low and behold one of the stir-fried veggies I found in my burrito (in abundance) was zucchini. It really ruined the flavour of the whole thing for me. Cool spot, good for what it was but next time I'm in Muncich I think I'll stick with traditional Bavarian Fare. Eatcrest Out

Staying at the Westin Grand, I stopped by one late evening after the Oktoberfest had closed down but I wasn't tired enough to hit my bed due to jet lag. Sitting at the bar, I met Marco and Szabo, and warmed quickly to their hospitality. Their liquor selection is absolutely stunning, and I started on what I still can't easily find in the States - top-notch Cuban rum. A few nights later, I decide I wanted a taste of home, and asked Szabo if he could make me a Sazerac. He laughed, and said of course. Watching him at work, with rye, cognac, absinthe, and a bitter I haven't seen before which put Peychaud's to shame, I knew I was in the presence of a master. Szabo later confirmed that he'd spent many years in different cities both behind the bar and competing in cocktail competitions. He also has a keen mind for suggesting what fits at any given time, and he managed to cure a nasty bit of heartburn with a shot of Hungarian Unicum. This is a quiet and civilized place to either start or end your night. While it is quite distant for a regular resident of München, if you're staying at either the Sheraton or Westin in Arabellapark, Ducktail's is not to be missed.
