It's hard to go wrong with a zoo in kids' minds. Is this one the biggest, coolest one you'll go to?…read moreNo, but my six-year-old daughter enjoyed it. Since we went on a Thursday morning in August during peak season, admission was higher than other months. It cost 260 CZK for both of us to go. Not a bad price for a potentially all-day outing. The zoo is spread out either long trails that go through woods. That means you'll walk for minutes without seeing any animals. The animals themselves are organized around houses where you can walk inside to see them or venture outside since the cages expand to the outside in most cases. They have monkeys, hippos, giraffes, birds, fish, and all the other usual suspects. Where they stand out are the play areas throughout the zoo with the biggest playground being near the entrance. There are enough restrooms and snack areas.

Like many things in the Czech Republic, I was pleasantly surprised by this zoo. It is very large…read moreand beautiful. There was plenty to do and see even in the autumn. While I was one of maybe 20 people at the zoo today, there was so much to see and it was nice walking around for a long time in the quiet. I saw lions, fish, wildebeast, kangaroos, panthers, Jaguars, lynx, peacocks, ostrich, wallabies, so many monkeys, wolves... It was a blast and I will definitely recommend this zoo to anyone visiting. The best part is that it is vey easy to get to the zoo via public transit. Bus 11 goes to the zoo and basilica. I visited both and it is a nice walk from one to the other. Well worth the trip even if the weather isn't perfect. I paid 80 Kc for 1 adult in October. Tip: bring your own food in the off season as none of the vendors are open. I like how sleepy this town is in the autumn!
