For my hundredth review on Yelp, I've chosen my favorite place on Planet Earth: Lagos Zoo. I have been blessed with two trips here over the years and I hold each one dear in my heart and mind. The Lagos Zoo is magical place. Its not huge like the Bronx Zoo and as a result the experience is so intimate. They have animals from all around the world with a big emphasis on birds and monkeys. The first time I was here I saw a pair of birds the size of teenagers straight up dancing. Now for the monkeys. The main monkey area is on an island that you can walk around 360 degrees. There's no cages, just a bit of water (filled with all kinds of ducks and swans) separating you and the monkeys. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. You can sit there and watch monkeys hanging out for hours, it's fascinating. I would give this place a million stars if I could. Definitely check it out if you ever find yourself in the Algarve. read more

Great afternoon out with the children. The animals are well kept and many have young, which suggests that they are well taken care of.
