Nice outdoor seating, near water, green hills view, good food and beer!…read more I go to Decin once a year to visit family. This year I was there for my birthday and I wanted to take out for lunch my grandmother so our party included our teenage daughters my granny, my aunt, my fiance and myself; 6 people in all. Before I even decided to go to Kocanda I asked several local relatives and friends for a place they could recommend. Almost all of them told us to come here that the food and beer were good and the prices affordable. We sat outside with a wonderful view on the river and the green hills. The service was very friendly and the food was good. It was not gourmet food, but the kind of genuine typical food you'd expect to get in a Czech "hospoda". We were so happy, that we decided to go eat there one more time before we left from Czech. Both times we were satisfied. The second time my platter arrived when everybody else were almost done with theirs but that can happen. In reference to some previews reviews, something I would have not done was to order Mexican in a Czech restaurant and expect it to be great. When I visit next year I'll go back to Kocanda, I like the fact they have a big playground for children and it seems to be well known in the area. When you travel around the world you want to go eat where locals eat, not where tourists eat...right?!

Be-careful if you're tourist, they will try to ask for "tips" upon check-in, be sure to clarify price of stay before purchase. They only allow one room access key, you can get another for a fee, , overall service is by good. Restaurant: Good for groups (call in-advance for accommodations of a party greater than 5), definitely the spot for lunch, dinner is okay (menu changes), beers are great, however; they are not filtered (warning: you may get sick), bottle beers are okay. A bit pricey for this hotel stay, but it was worth the accommodation to be located near a train station and shopping mall. That was an advantage!

Being in Ceska Lipa the very first time a couple of years is leading to the following situation, if…read moreyou like it or not. When you arrive, you're urgently on the lookout for a place to grab some food and have a beer- After asking some colleagues, investigating on Yelp (which is not really helpful in the Czech Republic or Europe in general anymore) and some search engine map supplier we ended up here. In a place which we use to call "Schützenhaus" in German. The place looked deserted at first glance but that was only the first impression, inside it's been busy not packed but busy. Said that, It's exactly what you expect it to be, a good old tradition pub kinda thing, where you can eat some pretty good food and have a couple of beers. The waiters are pretty helpful and nice, and you can easily stay here and have a couple of beers more than you initially intended to have. If that's not a good sign, what is?
This place isn't only a restaurant but also a pension, so I focus on the restaurant part of it. The…read moreplace is cozy, old brick walls, a little wood, some old pictures, small rooms with only a few tables, pretty nice. The waiters are awesome, they speak Czech, English and a little German, pretty cool and they switch between those languages in no time. Big plus for the service here, well except that I ordered grilled salmon with mashed potatoes, and they brought me mashed potatoes with bacon. Strange combination, someone in the kitchen should have noticed that and worst case, since I ordered fish, I could have been a vegetarian. Well, nothing that a quick word to the waiter wouldn't solve as easy as 1, 2, 3. Hardly more to talk about this place in addition what I already wrote. It's for sure a place to come back to.

We came in with masks (no staff had any mask or COVID precautions) and we're sat at a table. After viewing the menu for a little a man server (grey beard) came and asked to see our vaccine cards. We all pulled out our vaccination cards as well as our passenger card QR codes that we filled out to enter the country. After his system "wasn't working" to scan our QR codes he proceeded to go on and on about why he couldn't serve us but none of it made sense. He wouldn't accept our vaccination cards or our paperwork that was REQUIRED to enter the country. We have had NO problem eating at any other restaurants, going into any other places in Prague and the surrounding cities we have visited. He was rude and kept speaking for 20 minutes while we could have just left and gone somewhere else for drinks and desserts. By the time we left everything else was closed. On the way out of the restaurant a lady who was seated stopped the waiter to try and help us, she was from the UK... mind you the UK is considered a COVID HOT SPOT RIGHT NOW! And the US is not!!! Super disappointed in the staff for their lack of knowledge and how rude the waiter was. Wasted our time for no reason. If you're from the US don't waste your time coming here, you'll have to wait 20 minutes listening to BS just to be turned away.
