People in the restaurant had ripped jeans, flip flops, crop tops, nearly naked folks and here was my 81 year old classy mom who just wanted to have a Coke Zero and see the views for our last night in Hamburg. The security guard was so rude and frankly ridiculous.

This may be attributed to the fact that this bar is in a hotel. The bar has a wonderful outside seating area which was full most days of my weekend visit. Great views of the shopping crowds on a busy, sunny Saturday. The bar also stays open late. I had the pistachio martini which was delicious!! Followed by a dirty martini. I also had the chicken Cesar salad which was just ok. Nothing special. I would definitely visit again. The renaissance hotel was a great place to stay and made me feel very welcome and like a VIP. I was offered a free drink at the Bricks Bar as a reward for my loyalty to Marriott Bonvoy program (titanium elite).

The music isn't too loud, I've always been able to find a seat, the prices are reasonable, and I love the atmosphere: vintage couches that are comfy and clean, cool lighting, and just the overall vibe of people chatting and enjoying themselves around you. The one downside are the bathrooms. I've never really understood the no-toilet-seat-in-the-women's-bathroom thing, but it's also not uncommon in Germany, so I won't let that affect my rating :)
