I am familiar with their drivers as I share the roads with them daily and my mom works in the building that abuts Spicers. I am rating them on their drivers. I think they are fantastic. They are courteous, conscientious and careful, even when dealing with the little car jerks who are in crazed-commute freak-out mode. The Spicers drivers drive from Union City through Hayward to 92 and across the San Mateo bridge. They regularly anticipate the horrible little car drivers' actions and are proactive, gracefully avoiding those scary altercations referred to by some traffic reporters as "tangles." Driving a box truck or an 18-wheeler can be scary and dangerous, as can sharing the road with one. I'm never nervous around a Spicers truck.

I just received a phone call from the manager regarding my incident with their driver. The fact…read morethat he took the time to call me indicates to me that this is a first class company. The driver in question was a temporary driver. Showing concern for what has happened goes a long way to making a person feel better about a bad situation.

It's a waste of resources for them (and the planet) and a waste of time for me since I must dispose of it. Worse, they block the sidewalk in front of my (corner) house by dropping a stack of papers on the corner to use as a staging area (I'm not sure what else to call it) for deliveries. School kids use that sidewalk to walk to school and there are many cars on the roadway. It's wrong to block the sidewalk and make the kids walk in the street. I wish the students would go ahead and walk on my front garden area (not really a lawn), but they (unlike the Milpitas Post) respect people's property and do not do so.

I participated in their guess the "mystery spot" and I actually won! Their customer service could do a little better because I had to reach out to them instead of them contacting me if I had won or not. Still got a free certificate to Casa Azteca! :)

Not only that, they have the lowest rates for publication for newspapers of general circulation in the city of San Jose -- $117 versus $145 for the SJ Post-Record and God knows how much the Merc would charge! They are professional, courteous and a good deal!
