We came during shoulder season in November so many shops, restaurants and hotels were closed. They can recommend activities and food choices based on what is available. The ski resort was not fully open yet when we came but they recommended a great short hike to see outside of the town. Pro tip: check them out as soon as you arrive, they are on the right as you exit the train station.

They booked this hotel prior to all the closers due to Omicron Virus. Thousands and thousands of flights have been cancelled and they PLEADED with the hotel management to change the dates for any fee. Beausite refused to help in anyway. My daughter is a 6th grade school teacher and saved up for this very special occasion. They paid $1,700 to 3 nights in this hotel. The hotels is Paris and the Netherlands happily changed their reservations to 2023. Beausite said "we can not help you." They offed to buy extra nights to visit when travel was safe in 2023. Beausite could have kept even half the money but kept ALL of the $1,700. They are criminal. STAY AWAY AND DO NOT SUPPORT THIS HOTEL.

There is outdoor seating here and it was packed by the time we arrived (usually a good sign). The waitstaff was friendly. We started with the raclette (which is basically like the fondue but a smaller portion). It's a nice starter because it doesn't get you overly full before your meal. It comes with two potatoes, small pickles, and pearled onions. They also serve you fresh bread and the best butter. For a main dish, we had the veal sausage in the onion sauce. The sausage was soft and flavorful, and the sauce was to die for. It even had crunchy French onions on the top. Think of this like French onion soup but sausage version. It was served with rosti which is basically like the best big hash brown you ever had in your life. I will be thinking about this meal forever!

The main reason I am giving this a three star rating is because of the exorbitant price. The ride…read moreup to the top is less than an hour, probably 40 to 45 minutes max and yet it's CHF 114 per person round trip. If they had had a live cam on their website or near the ticket office showing us that it was completely socked in the top we would not have gone. Basically when we got off of the train, which is an interesting ride in it of itself due to the steep elevation, but it was pea soup and you were lucky if you could see 100 yards in front of you max. The Matterhorn was totally not visible. There's not much to do at the top besides walk around the observation center, walk up to the hotel and go to the souvenir shop. There is a self-service café but not much else there if you are not staying at the hotel. Without views towards the surrounding mountains it's a rather isolated and less than stunning place. We decided to walk down to the second to the last station from the top in order to get a little exercise and hoping that maybe the mountain would come out on our way down. The footing was very rough and it was quite steep at the top with lots of loose gravel. We don't recommend this for people who are not fit enough to handle that type of terrain. There was a litter like field to the entire place as virtually no vegetation can grow at that elevation. We took the train back down to stations to the second to the last station, the first station on the way up, and walked our way down to town from there. That trail was also steep but completely different as it was within a forest and had a soft bed of Pineneedles and tree roots on the trail instead of loose gravel and sharp rocks as it had on the top.

The pool and spa area were also incredible, especially the heated outdoor pool, which we spent hours in. Service was top notch - every time we called the front desk, they were immediately responsive and able to help get us whatever we needed. It's expensive but if you're willing to splurge, highly recommend!
