a platter of meat and cheese

All I can say about this place is WOW WOW WOW! I had an amazing visit here! My friends and I were in town and decided to visit Zeppolli's for lunch time. We ordered the charcuterie board, Caesar salad, and a seafood pasta to share. The charcuterie board was huge and came with such variety. The quality of the cured meats and cheeses were superb. I thought the Caesar salad would come in a small portion but it was huge! Great bang for your buck at $5.00! As for the seafood pasta.. omg! It was so flavorful and decadent. The shrimp and mushrooms in the dish worked so well together. Our server was very sweet and accommodating, she even gave us multiple complimentary breads to taste. If I'm ever in the area again I am definitely paying Zeppolli's another visit.

Came for a birthday celebration with some friends on a weekday evening without a reservation, and had no issue finding seating. There were surprisingly many people for the time of the week IMO. Vibes are certainly interesting. There are wine bottles all over the restaurant that I was scared to knock over the entire time while I was eating (they're pretty out of the way, so you'll probably be fine). As for the food itself, the shrimp pasta I ordered was tasty, although the portion size was just average. With regards to pricing, Zeppolli's is definitely on the more expensive side, even by my NoVa standards. Service was great - our server was phenomenal and they do a free dessert for the birthday person.

Zeppoli is a true hidden gem for anyone who appreciates authentic Italian cuisine. From the moment you step inside, the cozy, rustic atmosphere transports you straight to a small trattoria in Southern Italy. The staff is warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable, making you feel like a guest in their home rather than just a customer. We had couple of appetizers and pasta dishes. They were all very tasty. House wine was delicious and inexpensive. If you are around the area we highly recommend this hidden gem.

Gnocchi Pollo Pomodoro with shrimp in place of chicken - great shrimp and sauce, but I didn't like the fried gnocchi

3.5 stars. My husband and I had an early dinner at Zeppoli's on a recent weekend trip to Blacksburg. Overall, we enjoyed the experience, but it could have been a little better with just a few tweaks. Their homemade olive bread to start is delicious. Even though we arrived early, the bread was still fresh, warm, and soft. We tried their burrata appetizer, which was served with roasted cherry tomatoes and garlic. The burrata didn't seem like it was homemade, as the texture was a bit firmer than we've had elsewhere. The roasted tomatoes were nice, but the garlic was too firm. For our entrees, I had their Gnocchi Pollo Pomodoro, and asked that they replace the chicken with shrimp, which they gladly did for a small upcharge. The shrimp were large, plentiful, and perfectly cooked. And the garlic cream sauce was absolutely delicious. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the gnocchi. While they gave me a huge portion, the gnocchi were served deep-fried, and were too firm and tough. My husband had their Manicotti Bolognese. He really enjoyed this dish. The sauce was flavorful, and the portion was huge. The atmosphere was ok, but it wasn't fine dining. They initially were playing Frank Sinatra-type music and then switched to pop music, which was less enjoyable. Service was fine, and the food came out pretty quickly. We did have to flag down our server for our check, however. Would we return? I'm not sure. If the gnocchi hadn't been fried, my dish would have been a slam dunk. Maybe I could request that?

Visited this past weekend for the first time as an alumni and it did not disappoint. I wish I took more advantage of this spot being so close back before I graduated as it's so delicious. The charcuterie was excellent, I loved the salami and pepperoni. None had that processed taste you get when getting these meats at the grocery store. The side Caesar was huge for $4.75. We did also order the prosciutto camberetti (not pictured) and this was so delicious. It came with an ample amount of shrimp and the mushrooms were so tender. I've been thinking of this dish since I ate it. Overall, everything is cheap (compared to an Italian place up in northern VA where I usually dine) and service was great. The atmosphere is quiet and colorful and free bread is also given. I'll definitely be back on my next Blacksburg trip!

The food was piping hot and amazing! Sarah was an excellent waitress and I would highly recommend asking for her if you come here! The restaurant has an amazing design, satisfying colors, and beautiful paintings!

We have been here twice when in town and it has been a nice experience. Today, our server was Elizabeth and she did a great job. Very competent, thank you, Elizabeth. Our favorites: Fried Mozzarella (fantastic) Garlic Bites Gnocchi Pollo Pomodoro (but we substituted shrimp for the usual chicken) We did not like the past primavera. noodles were super dry. no flavor. noodles with just butter or olive oil would have been better. I don't know what the issue was. But the salmon that we ordered to go with it was excellent. We made reservations online. The bottle of wine that was good was Peju. The environment is very nice, not noisy, suitable for a gamily gathering where you can talk. Or dinner for two.

Long time favorite. They do a great job when it comes to working with different organizations for fundraisers and their take out is awesome. Wide menu that will make you want to try everything. Their Instagram is also a foodies dream, their content looks awesome.

Just went here after the VT homecoming game. We had a reservation & you had to put down a $5/deposit/per person for the reservation & if you didn't cancel within 24 hrs you'd be charged. Given this information we thought it'd be super busy but it wasn't. yet you'd think it was with due to the poor service. The complementary bread & garlic bread bites was great, but unfortunately nothing else was. Only one person who got the spaghetti & meatballs finished their meal. & everyone else didn't finish it & left the rest. I got the seasonal gorgonzola cheese pasta with Turkey meatballs & I was thoroughly dissatisfied. The meatballs were terrible, I've never had anything that tasted like them & hope I never do again. Noodles were cooked well & the sauce was alright. But overall we agreed Olive Garden is much better & especially price wise. Don't recommend. And our waitress was not attentive, we had yo ask for the basics like water refills, we were there for about 2 hours just because it took so long to get her attention for the check & everything else. Also you can't use the check in coupon during game weekends..

The bread bites was DIVINE! I could not stop eating them, the service was on top of things & it is clean! It's a little dark for my preference but most restaurants are.

First things first, I would like to clarify my status as a chocolate milk reviewer. Yes, I review chocolate milk. BUT after turning 21 years old 1400 years ago, I can now review alcoholic chocolate milk beverages. That's right, I am 1421 years old, don't judge me I age like milk. Anyways, this place is FANTASTIC. I have never felt more appreciated as a customer, my waitress Liv/ Olivia? I don't know the origins of her name. Whoever she is, she made me feel so incredibly welcomed at this establishment. I am so indecisive, but after a quick verbal buzzfeed quiz she found me the perfect drink to match my hogwarts house. The house of chocolate milk. She presented me with a fall flavored milk based alcoholic beverage which shook me to my very core. As I sipped the beverage, a song by Ed Sheeran came on. I was quickly swept away into the world of a beautifully directed Rom com starting only me and the man in front of me 2 booths down. He may deny it, but I think it's love. Regardless, the food she brought me was delicious, and the service was impeccable. And most importantly, the chocolate milk alcoholic beverage helped regain my faith in humanity. 10/10 I'll be coming here every Sunday, don't look for me. I'll be hiding in the shadows. Sincerely, chocolate M

Not Your Mama's Pasta started out at the Blacksburg Farmers Market and ended up opening a brick and mortar store due to their popularity. They offer Roman styled pizzas and handmade pastas. The eatery is located in downtown Blacksburg and parking could be tricky. The size of the restaurant is also not super large, so keep that in mind. I do appreciate the ambiance of the interior though. The service is always quick and very friendly as well! Their Roman styled pizzas are decent, but the pasta is definitely the star of the show here! Roman pizza uses fermented dough, making the texture more like a focaccia. However, it isn't the same as a Sicilian styled pizza. The pizza isn't the best Roman pizza I've had, but it ins't bad at all. Now the pasta is the real star of the show here! All of their pasta is handmade with local ingredients and ingredients imported from Italy. The quality of the ingredients really enhances the flavors of their dishes. The pasta is quite rich, the noodles are cooked al dante, and the sauces burst with flavors. I have ordered several pasta dishes including the Cacio e Pepe, Pistachio Cacio e Pepe, and the Carbonara. All three were absolutely amazing! The Cacio e Pepe includes pecorino and black pepper, with a luscious, creamy sauce. The Pistachio Cacio e Pepe includes pecorino, black pepper, and pistachios that are blended into the sauce. This too is a very good dish, full of great flavor. The Carbonara was my favorite with bacon, egg yolk, pecorino, and black pepper. This dish was rich and heavier, but in the best way. There were ample amounts of bacon, balanced out with the egg yolk and tangy cheese. I would recommend any of their pasta dishes any day of the week! Overall, Not Your Mama's Pasta is a wonderful establishment here in Blacksburg. They offer a nice variety of authentic Italian dishes ranging from pastas to Roman pizzas. I have not been disappointed with anything I have ordered from here. Everything is made with high quality ingredients too. I really enjoy ordering from here and look forward to returning!

Our group had been studying the menu prior to our arrival. We enjoyed nearly every cocktail on the menu along with one of their "special shots in an animal head shot glass". There was a little "show" with almost every drink. Even though we had already eaten, we couldn't resist sampling a few snacks. Each snack was unique. The baked potato skins had a spinach artichoke topping and the dumplings had a cayenne dust. The mini pizza was just ok. The service was the highlight of our experience. Our server was always there to make sure we had everything we needed. We hope to visit again when we are in town.

I wanted to share feedback regarding our recent dining experience to celebrate my son's graduation…read morewith family and friends as it was unfortunately very disappointing -- especially considering the price point and expectations presented for your restaurant and event reservations. First, the menu was extremely limited for both food and drinks. While the cocktails were enjoyable, the food quality and portions did not come close to justifying the $300+ we spent. We ordered the shrimp and wagyu skewers expecting thoughtfully prepared dishes. Instead, the shrimp appeared comparable to pre-made shrimp cocktail shrimp placed on a stick rather than freshly grilled seafood. The wagyu skewer lacked the quality and presentation expected from a fine dining establishment and honestly tasted more like beef stroganoff without noodles. I also ordered the lobster bisque, which was served lukewarm and tasted as though it came from a can. The Caesar salad with smoked trout was acceptable, but the trout resembled salmon more than smoked trout, and the dressing tasted bottled rather than house-made. What made the experience more frustrating was the lack of transparency regarding the menu prior to the event reservation. For a restaurant that strictly enforces reservations and cancellation fees, customers reasonably expect a much higher level of quality, preparation, and overall dining experience. Our server was kind, attentive, and did their best throughout the evening, so I truly appreciate their effort. However, much of the remaining staff appeared stressed, overwhelmed, and unwelcoming, which added to the uncomfortable atmosphere. Overall, the experience felt far from the fine dining experience being advertised. The drinks were honestly the only standout part of the evening. I also have to mention that the food we received looked nothing like the photos posted online and in Google reviews. It genuinely made us wonder if there was an issue in the kitchen this evening, because the quality and execution were nowhere near what was being represented publicly. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken constructively because there is a significant disconnect between the pricing, expectations, and actual dining experience being delivered.
