Bread comes out fresh and hot. I don't highly recommend the calamari here because they have the tentacles and not just the body part and the tentacles are 2"-3" long. They are not greasy like some of the other places because they're flash fry. The chicken parmigiana and lasagna were ok and they were a little burnt on the outside. Order from and go to this place often. Service has gone downhill with time, but I've stuck with them knowing the service industry has been challenged over the last couple of years. Tonight, their website only has about 5 dishes on it. When I called to place an order since their website was clearly malfunctioning, the guy told me he cannot take orders over the phone even if the website is down and when I started to ask if maybe they have a limited menu tonight (because I was thinking i would just go in, but not if they only have 5 dishes available), he hung up on me mid sentence. I hate to write this because I assume the staff are nice people and they're trying, but my experience there was painful. I left after an hour and 15 minutes and BEFORE my entrée arrived. That's something I haven't done in 59 years. I am so glad I found Zeppolli's! I found them through a discovering Blacksburg page on Instagram and I'm so happy I finally got to go and try it out. It was still pretty snowy out and it's finals week so I'm pretty sure that's why the restaurant wasn't full because my friend who has gotten take out from them has said it's always packed. We went on Tuesday and that's apparently date night. They have a prefix meal that averages out to be a good choice and also a discounted charcuterie board. We ended up getting the board and everything on it was delicious and very high quality. They also brought hot fresh bread and balsamic and olive oil to the table. We were visiting my daughter at Tech and went here to celebrate my birthday. I made reservations for our party of 6 but I'm not sure why I bothered since they were not busy. We asked for bread and were surprised to get a blueberry roll and what looked and tasted like a sub roll. What decent Italian restaurant doesn't have fresh bread? Our meals came out quickly and were completely underwhelming. The interior of the restaurant leaves much to be desired as well. We will not be back to Zeppoli's. read more

Brunch this morning was delicious!! We were the first one's there when they opened so there was no wait. Our server was helpful about the menu and made a few suggestions. Our neighborhood Italian restaurant. Fresh baked Italian or olive bread accompanies every meal. They have a nice wine section with very reasonable prices. They have wine tastings on Wednesday evening with various wine distributors. Cody has done a great job diversifying during Covid. Went to Zeppolli's for the first time last night with my friend who's a regular! We got complimentary fresh French bread and a plate of herbs and balsamic glaze. each table gives olive oil that you pour into the plate yourself. VERY tasty! Bread was soooo soft. They also had another option of olive bread which we didn't try, but will try next time! Pictured: my meal - spinach ravioli with lemon cream sauce. It's amazing. Highly recommend. It's tangy and creamy but not heavy. My friend got spaghetti and marinara. She wasn't as big of a fan but she's gotten the ravioli before and loves that as well. Had a wonderful lunch date here this week. The restaurant wasn't too crowded and the service was really fast. Our host was really nice and told us the specials for the day. I love the food here. The food is not an issue. Service is usually good too! I just got ravioli with lemon cream sauce and it was $17.53 for about 12 ravioli and some sauce. I understand from working in a restaurant that the food is always priced higher than it actually costs so the restaurant can profit, but I could buy a pack of probably 45 ravioli for $10. The sauce was a ~$3.50 (?) up charge as well. You can buy a JAR of any sauce for ~$2-3. I also asked on the phone for chicken to be added, which I've had done before and was told yes on the phone and it just did not come with it. I was not charged for it but that was disappointing as well. The pricing here has gotten to be absolutely ridiculous. read more

There's so much to love here with the fresh pasta and great flavors. Pre Covid I enjoyed dining in. It's not pretentious but is high quality food. I would have given four stars but they can be kind of fussy about making changes. For instance, if I ordered a $17 shrimp dish without the shrimp (or any meat) the manager wouldn't come down on the price. It's a pity because I'd love to try more dishes without paying those prices. Last summer my family and I discovered Zeppolli's and absolutely loved it! We enjoyed the homemade pasta and great service. But within the last few months I have been there multiple times and I am sad to say it has been a major disappointment. The restaurant is rarely busy in the slightest, but the waiters/waitresses are extremely inattentive and wait times are long. To add insult to injury, they consistently run out of ingredients and hence certain entrees, and when they serve the food, many of the ingredients that are there are few and far between. And if that's not bad enough, simple things like water aren't even done right here, since the water pitcher that held my glass of water was evidently not cleaned correctly, as my water tasted distinctly of lemonade several times. Very disappointed at this once quaint gem of Blacksburg. Unfortunately I will not be eating here again. read more

Zeppoli's is a hidden Italian restaurant in the shopping center across from the Math emporium, and I'm sad I only discovered it about a year ago. I don't usually crave Italian food, but now when I do Zeppoli's is the spot. I haven't gotten the chance to try many of their dishes but the best one BY FAR is their eggplant parmesan! I'm not even vegetarian but I got this the first time I went with a girlfriend and it has been the only thing I've gotten ever since. What can I say? Once you know something's good, it's good! And I love the olive bread they bring out to you while you're looking over the menu, it comes out warm and toasty and just delicious. Their spinach artichoke dip is also fantastic! Downsides? Entrees come out with a small side of spaghetti, which in my opinion could have more flavor and taste better considering that it's an Italian staple. I also was not impressed with their fried calamari or ravioli - Olive Garden quality, if at best. And although I didn't have a bite of any of my other friends' dishes to vouch for their experiences in the past, they never seemed as enthusiastic about them as I about that delicious eggplant parmesan. read more
