I never would have consist ballet for me but this is extremely accessible. American liberty. Ballet is a small ballet company that teaches and performs in ny and nj. The dance school helps to support the dance company. Currently their space is under construction but the company and school busy rehearsing and preparing for many upcoming performances. The school is based on four levels from absolute beginner to advanced beginner. All of the instructors are extremely friendly and well practiced. The school is available for all ages!! That means children and adults!!!! This past year I was able to perform in a ballet for the first time in my life. It was quite an enriching experience. My daughter has been a student of Joffrey Ballet School for three years and she loves it! The…read moreteachers, especially Miss Jazmine and Miss Hayley, are caring and encouraging -- my daughter is learning to be not just a great dancer, but a strong, confident girl. Young dancers are given the opportunity to take the stage with the older students and members of the dance company for the annual performances of The Nutcracker and Alice in Wonderland. The experience of learning to perform is invaluable. If I had any complaints at all, it's that the performances are held all the way out in Queens which is a challenge to get to during the week of recitals leading up to the performance. My other gripe is that the staff at the performance location do not allow photographs to be taken. Not Joffrey's fault, but I do wish they chose a closer location with friendlier staff. All in all, a great dance company and I'm glad I'm able to send my daughter here to learn from the best.

There is also basic beginner which is a level above absolute beginner and level below beginner. See what I mean? why are we call the classes such similar names. Yes they include descriptions, but I feel anyone new to the studio would be confused. I could tell since a lot of people in my class did feel out of place and under trained! Will I come back? I wanted to, but like I said, they rarely offer the absolute beginner and after my class with Stephanie I lost my confidence to jump into it after so many years off.

Class sizes are relatively small and each student receives a great deal of personal attention. There is also no attitude here, unlike some of the other studios around NYC. I noticed another review saying that students become like a part of the family here, and it's completely true. Highly recommended to theatre professionals and novice enthusiasts alike!
