Zentea is not your typical milk tea place. For one, its name is not a play on a word ending with the syllable "ty" (unless you want to argue that it is a play on the word "senti"). For its interiors, there are no neon colors. No detail is too cute or too elaborate.
The style of the place is for the most part Oriental minimalist. The palette is just black, white and red: basic with just a little pop of color to balance the neutral colors. And, true to its name, posted on the wall near the counter are inspirational quotes about forgetting and overcoming worries.
But what really sets Zentea apart from competitors is their creativity in coming up with unique names for their drinks. While the fruit teas are named after fruit-flavors (Raspberry, Passion Fruit), the rest of the choices have interesting names. For instance, instead of calling their milk tea with rose petals as just Rose Petal Milk Tea, they chose to label it as Bandung - a drink consisting of condensed milk and rose petals from Singapore, Brunei and Malaysia. They also serve Mojito - and no this drink doesn't have alcohol, it just contains mint and lime. Their almond-flavored milk tea, instead of being called Almond Milk Tea, is named Alps, a short word for almond which also evokes the coolness of milk tea.
All in all, I would say Zentea is a must-visit tea place because it offers delicious, not-so-conventional flavors (like the rose petals) with equally creative names to come along with the drink. read more
