We chose Vi at Grayhawk because of the outstanding ranking of their health care unit and the warmth of the residents in the community. We attended several "meet the residents" marketing events. Our transition has been flawless. We sold our home very quickly, before the total renovation of our apartment was completed so the sales team at Vi provided housing for us for 5 weeks and absorbed the cost of storage of our furniture. They provided a recommendation for an excellent mover, and put us in touch with a relocation specialist who drew a floor plan to advise which pieces of furniture would fit in our new space. This experience has been much better than we could have expected. The staff is overwhelmingly kind and responsive, the food is delicious (two dining spaces, one formal and one casual) and we are so comfortable in our beautiful apartment. We're thrilled to be at Vi at Grayhawk.

Though my parent enjoys it at the Manor, I've been concerned about continuous increases in the rent and fees, especially the latest increase of just shy of 15%! This latest increase seems to have pushed residents "over the edge," with several now moving out to nicer and cheaper alternatives. The Manor seems to have also lost several good and caring employees that we really liked. I'm starting to get concerned about the trends I've been witnessing. I hope these trends don't continue.

When we walked in the door at Manor Village, we knew we had found Moms new home. We were greeted by Wesley Wilkins who provided us with a tour and as we moved throughout the building, Wesley knew all the residents that we came in contact with as well as employees. You could tell he really enjoys his job and every employee we talk with had a smile on their face. The entire building had a wonderful vibe and the residence we interacted with were so welcoming and friendly. We feel confident that if any emergency or care is needed, Mom is in the right place. It is now been a couple of months since she moved in and we could not be any happier. It has been such a positive experience and I would highly recommend Manor Village if you're looking for a facility that will treat your loved one like family. The staff have always been friendly and helpful and the residents genuinely love living here. There is a variety of daily activities for those that want to participate, quality food onsite (all meals included), and plenty of additional amenities that help make living here super convenient. It's also a great location just east of Scottsdale on Shea. The apartments themselves are a great size and the entire facility is clean and vibrant. I'm not sure if this will be "home" for the long term for my mom, but it has been perfect for the time being.

Yesterday, I went to visit them and have lunch with them at their facility's restaurant. From the moment I walked in, I marveled at how new and beautiful everything looked. There was even a slight smell of fresh paint to add to the newness. The decor in the lobby was gorgeous and upscale, with high ceilings, inventive light fixtures, and lots of seating. The restaurant offers sit-down service. They have daily specials and a soup of the day. They had a good variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, and desserts for lunch. The brownie was my favorite part of the meal. It was decadent! This facility allows for small pets. There is a dog run area outside. There's also a heated pool and a gorgeous seating area outside with a large television mounted on the wall. My friend showed me the activity schedule. They offer many fitness and enrichment classes, such as art classes in the art studio. There are also bridge, rummikub, and mahjong groups that meet on a regular basis. This facility is not yet at 100% capacity. I would definitely recommend booking a tour if you are in the market for retirement living, assisted living, or memory care.

I have been my mother's caregiver for 13 years since her dementia diagnosis. This was identified as…read moreAlzheimer's four years ago when she began living with me full time. I spent several years looking for a long term facility for her because I didn't want to be caught off guard if something happened and she needed placed. I didn't want this important decision made in haste. After visiting more than a dozen facilities in the valley I selected Pacifica. I tell you the background because I have read several reviews not all good about the facility and I feel it's important give perspective. In addition to my research and visiting the facilities around the valley, my father was in three different facilities before he passed. What I have learned and I believe families should be aware is no place is going to feel perfect. No place is going to be as good as your loved one with normal health or brain function and living in their own home. So it's important to look for a partner in your care. I am beyond grateful that I found Pacifica. Although it's only 4 min from my house I would not have known about it without Care Patrol who let me know they had Alzheimer's cottages. From the first visit I felt heard, understood and respected. When we have had what I call "growing pains" them learning my mom, them learning my expectations and me learning their abilities and goals for mom, the executive director and departmental directors have had their doors wide open. When there have been challenges there has been a very lovely word - "yes" that they use in order to make sure we find a way to make the situation better. I love that my mom still has dignity and privacy in the cottage. I love that the little things to make her room a home have been met with a yes. I think the cottage based system should be the future for Alzheimer's. I have not seen a cognition based system implemented as well as it is here. My mom is very high functioning and so are the peers in her cottage. But I have the peace of mind knowing when she does need more help or loses her ability to communicate etc that there is a place for her on the same property in another cottage.
