I have relatives who visit once a year for a week. Would they be able to smoke on my patio or inside? I would want them to be comfortable for the week that they visit

As a Hospital Social Worker for many years I was often tasked with placing patients in care homes…read moreon a moment's notice, since MD's are required to discharge patients as soon as in-patient needs are resolved. If a previously independent patient is deemed unable to safely return home, it can come as a shock to the patient and/or their family so Social Services helps with planning the imminent discharge. Frequently, thanks to the heroic work of PSPS--a highly recommended, free service, I succeeded! The PSPS staff are intimately aware of which group homes exceed in quality care and trust as well as which ones to avoid. There's no need to cull through lists of facilities, not knowing the many unseen risks--PSPS removes the guesswork so you can sleep at night, knowing your loved one has the constant professional care 24/7.

My Mother had some unique…read morerequirements and the challenge was to find a facility to accommodate my Mother requirements. Working with Dane Vanderwerf of Premier Senior Placement Services was the best thing in accomplishing this need. Dane took the time to listen to family on the special needs of my Mother and was able to find a facility that was a good fit. Throughout the placement process, Dane took the time to listen to family inputs, ensured that all logistics are covered in moving my Mother into the facility, and took time out of his busy schedule to oversee the actual move of my Mother into the facility. Dan is very experienced in what he does and pleasant to work with. I would definitely recommend Dane if you have a similar need.

I was genuinely troubled to see the memory care director, Laurin, leave her position. Having worked…read morewith her a few months ago, I can say she was an extraordinarily loving, patient, and empathetic leader -- the kind of advocate this facility needs. I don't blame her for leaving at all. What concerns me most is something I witnessed firsthand: while waiting to speak with her, I overheard a conversation between her and the executive director. His tone was belittling, and he spoke about writing up and firing staff in a way that felt dismissive of the people actually doing the caregiving. Given that, it's hardly surprising how many memory care directors have come and gone. It's worrying to think this same leadership will be opening a new, state-of-the-art center -- I have real concerns about whether the culture behind the scenes matches the polish out front. I don't typically write reviews, but after learning Laurin had left and seeing firsthand how unsanitary and rundown the common areas have become, I felt I owed it to other families to speak up. This is memory care -- the residents here are especially vulnerable, and I think that raises the stakes on all of this considerably.

He praised the staff are more friendly and available, the food are better, even the air is fresher compared to the last assisted home he stayed at for 4 years. My encounters with everyone (including the residents) from Bethesda were all positive. My only suggestion is I wish the med techs have a desk with a chair, so they don't have to be on the feet all day.

I am quite grateful for the good care I received from the nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and the outdoor grounds are beautifully maintained. However, there were notable areas that need improvement. There were times when the care staff felt stretched thin, leading to slow response times when calling for assistance. Furthermore, communication between the administrative team and family members could be improved. A major concern was the doctors, who visit the facility sporadically; my wife was never able to speak with them. The biggest issue was the performance of the physical therapy team. There was no set schedule whatsoever, and they often rushed through sessions in just five minutes, combining physical and occupational therapy together. I tracked each visit to the gym, and we never reached the expected five sessions per week for either physical or occupational therapy. While it is a nice facility with a caring nursing staff, closely monitoring the therapy department, staffing levels, and doctor communication would make the experience much better.
