I took my…read moreShiba pup to this vet about 11 years ago, and then switched vets because I moved further away. In June 2026, I was frantically calling vet offices after receiving an unforeseen and distressing diagnosis for my (then-senior) Shiba at the emergency VCA in Fountain Valley. The receptionist was very attentive and nice, and was able to get us seen straight away in the morning when they opened. Aside from the really great customer/patient service, the lobby was small, but very clean. The atmosphere isn't dreary, which I really appreciated at the time. We were seen by Dr. Acevedo, who was very professional and warm. I explained what was happening to my 11.5 year old boy--he was diagnosed with pericardial effusion, cardiac tamponade with ascites--and she explained very thoroughly what they were going to do that day. I did have to drop him off for most of the day and pick him up at the end of it, which I didn't love, but I understand it's because I was basically a very last-minute appointment, and the procedure they were going to do was a drain plus radiographs along with other tests. Unfortunately, as his symptoms progressed aggressively and Dr. Acevedo had results to talk about with me, she let me know over the phone that the prognosis was not good. I then went in, where she showed me the radiographs and gave me a detailed explanation of what she was seeing, and even compared my dog's x-ray to a healthy dog's x-ray to help me understand better what was happening. Dr. Acevedo was very sincere, she told me she's seen this several times before, and the outlook based on what she saw would mean my boy would be in a constant state of recovery. Eventually, I made the very painful decision to lay him to rest with an at-home service with a different practice the next week. Overall, Dr. Acevedo was incredible. Because his decline was so rapid, I was constantly blowing up the phone at her office asking about everything ranging from treatments, to what I should look out for so that I don't wait too long to lay him to rest. Every time, she was very informative and tried to help me with what I was going through with my best friend. Thank you to everyone at Lincoln Animal Hospital. When the time comes, I will be glad to bring my next pup back here. It's worth the drive.

The vet is also very compassionate and thorough when he was talking to us. They remembered my 4 year old pit bull immediately. We have had only two visits here. The wait is almost non existent. You are the only client they are focusing on when you are there. Their costs are also not exorbitant. I love going to this place. When it comes to really complex medical situations, requiring cutting edge equipment, they're not my first choice, but they did get my super sick kitten well when it looked like he may not pull through. They just dug in and aggressively, day after day, worked to get his high fever down before it caused any brain or system damage. You can trust them to let you know if you need to go to a specialist. They want the best for your pet. One of my cats cannot take the stress of other people so close and handling him. They helped me with the right kind of carrier (even loaned me one!) and the right amount of sedation at home combined with the super calm techniques to make his visits just fine. For the usual problems that arise with our animals, this place is the place to go!

I drive there from Long Beach because Dr. Leung and everyone that works with him are so compassionate and good natured people. They also know how to work with reactive pets as well. I recommend them to everyone I know. No upsells, always trying to suggest the most affordable and least invasive options. He's great at laying out your options and suggesting to go elsewhere if needed. He's available in the phone and will take his time to speak with you personally. This place was suggested by a coworker after I was almost taken advantage of by another vet for my dogs UTI that turned out to be bladder stones. The other vet wanted over $1,500 just to diagnose her with tons of invasive tests. Meanwhile at Alamitos they tested her pee and did an X-ray for a fraction of the cost and suggested doctors to have the procedure done. They've really helped me trusts vet offices again. They even took the staples out for me after the procedure even though it was done elsewhere. Recently my dog tore her CCL, and they're the ones who I trusted to do the procedure. I felt so comfortable taking my dog there any they let me hold my dog while the sedative worked through her body for X-rays and the surgery. Those little details matter that I know they are animal people. Usually they'll just take your dog in the back and they're probably scared and don't know what's happening. Anyway, can't recommend enough!! Thank you Dr. Leung and everyone who works at Alamitos Animal Hospital.

First off thank you Dr. Ash for being informative and especially he always kind and treat animals with care and passion. He never recommend anything that's unnecessary and we - clients appreciate it so much! Neemo has been spayed here and did see Dr many times and been cured here many times. She has good experiences here as well as Ozzy ( though Ozzy is scared of everything, she managed to overcome her fear here so yk the staff are very gentle) If you're curious, prices here are affordable/ reasonable to me. Around our house, he's simply known as The Cat Whisperer. Somehow he has this magical "Dr. Ash method" that can calm even my most nervous, difficult cats. Cats that normally hide, hiss, or make everyone work for it seem to trust him. I still haven't figured out his secret! What really sets Dr. Ash apart is the time he gives every patient and every pet parent. He never makes you feel rushed. He explains blood work and treatment options in incredible detail, answers every question, and has even called me in the evening to personally discuss test results. That level of care and dedication is almost unheard of. I also want to recognize his amazing staff. Raquel, Andrea, and everyone at the clinic are always so kind, patient, and genuinely caring. Whether they're drawing blood, collecting urine samples, trimming nails, or giving one of my cats a sanitary trim, they handle each cat with such compassion and professionalism. You can tell they truly love what they do. I've trusted Dr. Ash and his team with my cats for many years, and I wouldn't trust anyone more. They treat every one of my cats as if they were their own, and that means the world to me. And here's the highest compliment I can give him: if Dr. Ash ever moved to Timbuktu... I'd be pricing moving trucks the same day. That's how much I trust him. Thank you, Dr. Ash, Raquel, Andrea, and the entire team for the exceptional care you've given my furry family over the years. You are all simply the best.

Generally I am able to make appointments for them within 48 hours of needing to be seen which is good. However their hours and appointments might be limited sometimes so YMMV. Recently our older dog was having issues and we brought him in. Our first appointment did not go well as he was never seen, they told me to come back the next day which I did. We came back the following day and he was seen for his lack of appetite and urinary issues. In the past everything was fairly expensive but this time took the cake. It cost $700 for an exam, two lab tests and a small medication to increase his appetite for a few days. The worst part is, we did not get any diagnosis since they didn't find anything wrong. They also checked his ears which he is often scratching daily and they said were totally normal also. The next day he was worse so now we are forced to take him to an emergency room and pay double the cost, at a minimum. They also gave me about using our Carecredit card for the payment, which is in my wife's name, even though they know both of us and our dogs for the last two years. They also didn't give us any discount for the trouble of rescheduling on us or being a repeat customer. Imagine going to a mechanic for your car paying $700 and it's worse than when you brought it in? That is the situation as of not.

Even though Dr. Berka and the Happy Tails team were not the ones who handled his final visit, a condolence gift arrived at our home the very next day. They did not have to do that, but their kindness and compassion made a lasting impression on our family during an incredibly painful time. This thoughtful gesture perfectly reflects why we have trusted Dr. Berka with our dogs for so many years. In a time when veterinary care can sometimes feel increasingly corporate and impersonal, Happy Tails remains a place where our pets are known by name, their medical histories are remembered, and they are treated as members of the family. Dr. Berka is not only an exceptional veterinarian--she is a genuinely caring person who understands how deeply we love our animals. That kind of compassion cannot be measured by an invoice or replaced by convenience. We will continue driving from Long Beach to Garden Grove because our furry family members deserve a veterinarian who combines outstanding medical care with genuine humanity. We are deeply grateful to Dr. Berka and everyone at Happy Tails Animal Hospital for the care and kindness they have shown our family, especially when we needed it most.

Despite knowing the reason for the appointment, Dr. Berka refused to refill his anxiety medication because she had not originally prescribed it. When I asked why, she responded in a very rude and dismissive tone, saying, "I didn't write the original prescription, so go back to that doctor and get it." There was no discussion about whether my dog still needed the medication, no alternative meds offered, and no attempt to help us find a solution. All she did was pout that we went elsewhere and that we order our meds on Chewy and not from her. What makes this even more frustrating is that the "other vet" was actually the veterinarian her own office sent us to when Dr. Berka was on vacation. The visit lasted approximately 5 minutes and all she did was look in his ears, yet I was charged $121 and left WITHOUT the medication we specifically scheduled the appointment for. Now I have to schedule and pay another $100 for another wellness exam at the "other" vet just to get my dog the medication he needs. Dr. Berka came across as rude and unprofessional and she didn't show any affection or gentleness towards my dog. She behaves like she doesn't like animals which is so odd! If you're looking for a veterinarian, I strongly recommend finding someone who doesn't get jealous and petty when you see another vet when she is on vacation. Very disappointing experience.
