I have visited this practice since 2012 and have very good experiences here…read more Everybody is very friendly and they are really most interested in their patients having healthy teeth and looking after them. I have also had a few teeth out here and a filling done. It is an established practice so you might not get an appointment immediately; for long-term work on dental health and hygiene most highly recommended.

Herr Jansen is certainly not your typical dentist, but I have been going to him for over 15 years…read moreand am very satisfied with the attention he pays to me and my family when we have an appointment. He once temporarily repaired a broken molar (I didn't have time to have the final work done at that moment.) Six years later I decided it was time to have the "temporary" repair replaced with a permanent one. I thinks its pretty amazing that the temporary fix was still perfect six years after it was put in!! Herr Jansen is also very fair with his prices and has discouraged me from having unnecessary work done. I find him to be extremely ethical and efficient. I would strongly recommend him, but then again selfishly, I don't want to have to wait too long for an appointment, should he have too many patients.

There are certain people who hate the dentist. Me? I'm not one of them. Of course, I am lazy when…read moreit comes to flossing and I know there will be that inevitable lecture about how I need to do it more often, but I have been able to live a few decades of my life being OK with that. Yet when it comes to a dentist in Germany, there was admittedly a bit of angst. I was nervous about the language barrier for one, and also, seeing as I went from a twice-a-year dentist-goer to not having been in nearly five, I was anxious to see how bad things had gotten. Good news though: at this office, everything was good. I showed up and the people in the office were friendly, the receptionist explaining a couple terms I didn't understand on my questionnaire. The cleaning itself was brutal, but that was to be expected. The lecture on flossing was also there, but it (at least for now) has inspired me to floss daily. I also have a check-up in two weeks, so I want to do my homework... I didn't actually meet with or see Dr. Akdeniz - I am assuming that happens next time I go in? I chose him specifically for proximity and rumors that he speaks English, but even so, I survived my interactions with the dental hygienist in German just fine, so... I only have two complaints, the first being that I had to wait a good 30+ minutes past my appointment time, in the lobby, waiting to be seen. But I understand appointments can back up, and this seems to be the quintessential doctor experience for me anyway. The other is that the patient bathroom has a toilet with no actual seat... there's the cold porcelain, but nothing over that, which I found weird and kind of gross. Next time I will just have to remind myself to go at home first.

No matter what issues you might have, they guys there will look after you very well. Nihad chief dentist has impeccable English and was very straightforward to deal with, very honest, with a good sense of humour too. The practice is spotlessly clean but also quite impersonal too with nice relaxing waiting area. An excellent resource to have, particularly for expats in Kreuzberg/Neukölln area and this place certainly makes visiting the dentist a much more pleasant experience!!

It's June, which means my allergy season is in full effect right now. This was something I totally…read moreneglected to think about until it was already upon me, and I realized I only had a few weeks of Allegra-D left. After finding out the German name from a doctor friend, I decided to see an allergist. Need allergy medicine? See an allergist. Makes sense, right? Except that every English-speaking allergy doctor I came across was booked for months. That wouldn't do. Instead, I decided to see a regular practitioner. Of course, I encountered a similar problem. All the doctors were either booked for months, or on the other side of town. I, for one, would like to be able to walk a few blocks or take a short bike ride to see mine. Well thank goodness for aerzte-berlin.de - I was able to put in advanced criteria and when looking for English-speaking doctors in my neighborhood, came across one just a couple blocks away. I quickly called and was told to come in and wait. The reception area is super small and it took a while to be helped, although I don't think that was any fault of the people working. Once I registered, I waited in an adjoining room for maybe 5 or 10 minutes before I was seen. The wall is covered in (faded) reprints of Van Gogh and Monet paintings - a nice touch when compared with some of the awful art I've seen on office walls elsewhere. The seats were multi-coloured with shiny plastic shells - they reminded me of M&Ms... I can't say anything about Dr. Cotanidis, but as for Dr. Engert, he was great. I immediately told him that I heard he spoke English, and he switched right away - and speaks it well! He sat down with me, took the time to not only hear what I needed but also ask the appropriate follow-up questions, and then accompanied me to the front and waited until my prescription was given to me. All in all, the experience was about 30 minutes. I got what I came for and left with a good impression. Extra note: In addition to speaking English (and German), Turkish is also spoken here.
