Quick with delivering out cocktails we were also able to find some table space. All this in the run up to Christmas, cold night and in a reasonably packed bar. Dimmed lighting and music providing fun atmosphere. Friendly staff and people. Towards the end of the night, we even had table service a plus for me. Gotta love table service in a bar!! The only downside to this bar was the ability to smoke inside. Not a fan of smoking and not used to smoking inside for a while now, this was a shock to the system, my clothes, hair and lungs. This, for me was the only down side to this bar. Although, would come again. :)

Named after a gangster from America during the 1920's the place had photos of him everywhere. It was was also dark and moody looking, set up to be like a cocktail bar that a mobster might frequent. In terms of a place to have a drink this could well have been a 4 star as it was busy, had some atmosphere, attentive service and a good array of drink options. For two main reasons for me it is only a three star. Firstly they allow smoking inside. For me it is now a very much out dated practise that no way should be allowed inside bars. Secondly the drinks were a bit on the pricey side working out at 27 euros for three. So works out about £7 a drink, which is pricey compared to other places in the city. If these two things don't bother you I reckon you will love it here. Decent cocktail bar, certainly busy on a Tuesday night.

It was initially an emergency back-up if there was no beer in the fridge. Well, now it's a favorite after having been in town for two months. It's pretty much what we call in the States a "dive-bar". This can have both a negative and a positive connotation. In regards to Dreyer, it's positive. I love this place because it's everything a bar should be where you want to hang out and grab a beer. I don't need all the designer crap most new bars add to their "Innenausstattung". I want some comfortable chairs, a long "Theke" and interesting people. The bartender here (and owner I presume) as well as his wife (I presume) look like they've worked here their whole lives (maybe after short stints working at the docks). BUT, they are the two nicest people you could meet (even though the bartendar is huge and looks like he'd kick your a$$ if you met him in a dark alley). Plus, the people sitting around the bar (who seem to be there every night) sure are characters. One cool feauture is that the owner seems to collect clocks and there's something like 110 of them spread throughout the bar. A nice litte touch which you don't figure out the first night you're there. Anyway, this place is great and definately not your run of the mill watering hole. Check it out if you're up for something different which doesn't remind you of every other bar you've sat in the last couple of beers.

I told her my typical "go to" bourbon cocktails and she came back with a variant that was very nice. On point! Old Fashioned with maple syrup and peanut accents. Wound up having two. :) For food, I tried their chicken club. So good! Maybe the best club sandwich I've ever had. The chicken was cooked perfectly and it had hard boiled egg and a great sauce. Literally finger lickin' good. The room is very nicely and modernly decorated and the music was perfect, to my liking. Glad I stopped in. Give it a try. :)

This is a BAR REVIEW…read more The hotel lobby and bar are beautiful and fun places to grab a drink and catch up with friends, except Friday or Saturday nights you may run into a live DJ and a crowd. What I love is the crowd is a myriad of ages, I swear there was a 90-something-year-old at the bar this visit, which only adds to the character. The bar men are dressed to kill, suspenders and all, and the waiters don't miss a step. The drink menu may take you half the night to read through, but it strings the conversation around the world as you discover a glass of whiskey from such and such island can actually cost that much. Yes, prices are high, but you will leave satisfied. I suggest: try a NEW drink. You can get your good'ol gin*n tonic elsewhere.

I ended up walking away satisfied, but not blown away. I ordered their maxed out burger, which came with bacon, sautéed onions, and a fried egg. The ingredients were high quality, and the burger was topped with a tasty, albeit too sweet burger sauce. The meat itself was on the bland side, and lacked a proper seasoning. Fries (a separate order, as the burger only comes by itself) were a refreshing mix of about 2/3 regular, and 1/3 sweet potato fries, and came topped with a rosemary based seasoning that was original. For a 13-14 euro lunch meal, it could have been better.
