Zaatar is a great lunch and easy family dinner spot in Coburg. Located on Sydney road, it's easy to spot and lots of street parking as well as parking spots at the Coburg market, outside Woolworths and Coles nearby. Zaatar has outdoor seatings and warm space inside. Most of the usual bakery menu cost around the $3-$4 mark and makes for a very cheap and quick lunch. For dinner you can try the bigger option including mezze plate with dips, pizzas and wraps. I like the dips and salad options too. Zaatar feels like a bit of an extension to your local Middle eastern lunch bakery. It's dressed up enough to take the parents and casual enough to take your messy kids. I like it, cheap and cheerful as they say!

I was pretty stoked to see a new modern addition to the Burg. There's not a lot of options around…read morethis area for dinner-time eats, glasses of wine and socialising, so Cornerstone was a welcome sight when I walked past a month ago. We finally made it for dinner on one of those "CBF" nights where the thought of cooking seems impossibly hard. Instead we walked here in an attempt to burn off some calories pre-gorge. First impressions were awesome, with a large venue that's been renovated with nods to hipster cafe style, but not in a complete and utter copy-cat kind of way which seems to be the norm these days. On a mid-week night the restaurant was almost full which is always a great sign! Departing impressions? Cornetstone is a-ok! The service is a little novice and it's clear they're still finding their feet. You know when you're having a great deep and meaningful chat with your other half and you're bothered every five minutes to ask if you want anything and if everything is okay? And when you actually do want some attention ("more wine please!") you can't get anyone to come serve you? Well, THAT. This is something that comes with experience and maturity of service, which as a new venue with young staff they just don't have yet. The food was good. We shared the fritto misti, a mix of fried seafood and it was a tad greasy rather than crisp and we needed to adjust the seasoning at the table as it was seriously lacking. We also split a pizza which was massive and heavily topped. I've had better pizza, but I've also had a lot worse. The wine list is okay though I'd venture to say it's a little on the steep side for the quality offered. A couple of glasses each, along with the entree and split pizza meant a $85 bill on departure. Not really every day pricing for what feels like an every day kind of venue. All in all, Cornerstone is a solid option in Coburg if you don't want to venture further afield the next time you want a spontaneous local meal. Hopefully they can iron out the service kinks and up the offering on the wine front to make this a regular stop in my week.

This restaurant is way more deserving than it's [at time of writing] 3 star review. Cornerstone…read morePizzeria was recommended to me by an Italian friend and Coburg local. Upon arrival it was evident numerous Italian families were fans! They have a gorgeous wood oven pizza and a great selection on the menu. The pasta dishes stand out - we had the Paparadelle Ragu (lamb) which was cooked to perfection, the Cornerstone Pizza and the Garlic Foccacia which is cooked in the wood oven, pizza style. We added cheese which appeared to be Fior de Latte, so not what we expected but it was incredibly tasty. Great wine list and desserts, plus quick and delicious coffees (STRADA). I would recommend for a date night or an intimate dinner with friends. They also appear to do larger bookings toward the back. Cut to the chase; Pasta is well made and delicious, serves are extremely generous and menu items stay true to Italian roots. We'll be back! *the only reason this doesn't get 5 stars is I don't feel we tried enough of the menu...this time!
