My favorite Asian cuisine is Japanese, hands down. The downside is, they tend to be more on the expensive side, but whenever I go it's such a treat. Located in a more residential pocket of Glen Park on Monterey Boulevard, the restaurant doesn't really stand out from the roadway, it's fairly nondescript. To me though, the unpretentious, unobtrusive nature of its facade is kind of alluring, almost like being part of a small club that knows a certain speakeasy of bygone days. What's more, it's not easy to find street parking in these parts, so it's a bit inconvenient. However, once you get past finding a parking spot and locating this place, this place is charming, if not intimate, and it has that Japanese vibe. The menu has ample offerings you'd find in any typical Japanese place, but I'm inclined to order their sushi rolls which tend to be generous and reasonably priced. During lunch and afternoons are my recommended hours as it's not crowded and guess what? Finding parking is easier. It's definitely a neighborhood spot and it's one of the reasons why I love San Francisco restaurants, small independently owned places, each with its own character and distinction. The food is good, reliably consistent and at least the times I've been there, the service is super fast. But then again, I go at non-peak hours. Good luck finding parking and enjoy your visit.

$1 Happy Hour Oysters E-V-E-R-Y-D-A-Y! That IS all. Byeeeeee! ------ Not every review needs to be a dissertation but many reviews these days seem to be 1-2 liners. I want deets, don't you?! Are the oysters fresh? Are they sus lookin'? Did the eater get the hershey squirts? If you want the deets too... Yes, no, and no. Formerly K's Kitchen, Yume Sushi opened in December 2022...the grand opening sign is still up (not related to the defunct Yume in Alameda). They're open for takeout, delivery, and dine-in. No outdoor seating. What sets Yume apart from your local neighborhood sushi joint is $1 HH Oysters. Available everyday including weekends from 4:30 pm - 6 pm. I believe the only places in the city still offering $1 HH oysters are AtWater Tavern (everyday), Mission Rock Resort (weekdays only), and Pa'ina (Thursdays only). M E N U Japanese cuisine: Soup, salad, apps, yakitori, sashimi, nigiri, sushi rolls, ramen, donburi, etc. Beer and sake available. HH menu (changes regularly): https://tinyurl.com/ypa2hszc. You save up to $3 from the regular prices. The kumiai oysters were fresh with a sweet clean finish. Properly shucked and dressed with ponzu, tobiko, and scallions. I'm always iffy about ordering $1 oysters but these tasted great and were an awesome value. * Spicy Tuna Taco, 3 pc (Reg. $8.97/HH-$7) // 3 stars: https://tinyurl.com/mpvn4psm Minced tuna with a slice of avocado in a crispy fried wonton bowl. Basic, not spicy. * Hamachi Carpaccio, 5 pc (Reg. $9.97/HH-$9) // 4 stars: https://tinyurl.com/5n6xth9a Fresh slices of yellowtail sashimi over a bed of red onions, drizzled with tangy ponzu, and topped with jalapeno, tobiko, and scallions. Solid. * YAKITORI: https://tinyurl.com/bdfpxm2z --Burabuta: Pork Belly (Reg. $5.97/HH $5) // 4 stars Tender, juicy, and well-seasoned with crispy seared edges. --American Wagyu: (Reg. $7.97/HH $6) // 4 stars Rich and tender with a savory tare sauce (soy-based). --Beef Tongue ($6.97, not on HH menu) // 1 star Dry, tough, and hella salty. It also had a funky aftertaste like it was past its prime. * Mixed Tempura: 2 pc Shrimp & Veggies (Reg. $10.97/HH $9) // 2.5 stars: https://tinyurl.com/3v4nhyyf More of a filler...the shrimp tempura batter was hard (more like ebi fry) while the veggie tempura batter was soggy. For veggies, you get kabocha, sweet purple potato, carrots, zucchini, and broccoli. * Hamachi Kama: Grilled Yellowtail Collar (Reg. $12.97/HH $10) // 4 stars: https://tinyurl.com/yc6dd2dh Moist and flaky with a crispy skin, served with a punchy ponzu sauce. Quite small but prolly just a small fish. * Sake Toro Nigiri, 2 pc (Reg. $9.97/HH $8) // 4 stars: https://tinyurl.com/4mfpua75 Slightly seared, the salmon belly is meltingly soft. Rice is soft and underseasoned but this isn't a $$$$ omakase joint so that's to be expected. * Chūtoro Nigiri, 2 pc (Reg. $10.97/HH $9) // 4 stars: https://tinyurl.com/mffvyjx2 Smooth and oh-so-buttery. Good deal, * White rice ($2.97/bowl) Filler to pair with the hamachi kama. S E R V I C E One server rocking the entire dining room herself and managing takeout/delivery orders. She was kind and efficient, and it was easy to get her attention. Prompt food service at 4:30 pm but they do get busier after 5 pm...peeps in the neighborhood trying to take advantage of the HH deals. Sushi combo with spicy tuna. Probably the best spicy tuna I've had and all of the fish was so good.

I love this restaurant, what a great local spot. All of the fish was incredibly fresh, the prices were very reasonable, and the staff and service were friendly and very attentive. We ordered the carpaccio, sushi combo, onigiri, butabara, and negihama roll. Everything was very delicious, well balanced, and melted like butter. Definitely looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu.

This is our go-to neighborhood sushi place. The service is fast, and they have good happy hours. The sushi is simple and affordable.

Loved this place! Came here after a dance class and it was exactly what I needed! Delicious fresh sushi, wonderful service, excellent tea and cozy atmosphere!

Went there at 5:57 and they still let us order from happy hour menu. Volcano roll was the best thing. Price is very good if you are ordering from happy hour menu. A bunch of rolls were under $10. The fish in the sushi was very fresh, but some of the sushi toppings such as garlic chips tasted a bit stale. Would avoid yume roll for that reason. Normally would rate this place 5 stars as the flavor good, and fish was super fresh.

This place is so delicious. My husband and I end up here on a monthly basis to celebrate small victories. Tonight I was reminded once again of how high the caliber of food here is. The menu is diverse, but not overwhelming. The food is prepared with obvious care and the chef is consistent in his technique and tastes. Sadly, for a Friday night, we were once again the only diners in the house. It is strange to me how deserted this place is for how good the food is. Unfortunately I think that is most likely due to the lack of foot traffic and that it's off a commercial corridor. I can think of at least 4 sushi places within a mile of this place that pale in comparison to what the chef is doing here, and yet they are constantly busy. I have not had a bad meal here in the past year I've been coming here. The waitress is always pleasant and out going. She seems to know all the regulars and is always in a good mood. I am pleased that this restaurant has survived for the last year, and for my own selfish purposes, I hope they continue to do well enough that they survive. If you live anywhere between Glen park and West Portal and Ingleside to Miraloma park, I highly recommend taking a nice walk and checking this place out. Thank you for another delicious meal!

It's the perfect neighborhood sushi restaurant! We've been coming here for over a year, my girlfriend is vegan and there so many options for here. Excellent happy hour, attentive but not intrusive service, fresh fish and all for very reasonable prices. Highlights include the glass jelly roll, chefs sushi combo and virtually all the nigiri/sashimi. Take out is also very convenient. There are some very reasonably priced sake but also higher end. Can't say enough great things about this gem, go check it out!

Both were delicious. I particularly liked the Salmon Mango roll - it was a perfect mix of sweet and savory. The rolls came with 8 pieces each and each piece was a good size, so it was plenty for two of us. I also got a Sapporo beer (bottle) to sip on.
