The carrier for the Sun is very nice and delivers the paper on time. I like that the paper lists things to do for every day.

Have you ever gone out for a nice Sunday breakfast to let the past week just float away with coffee, food and a Sunday paper? Shoes did. Except the paper part. I tried to get my Sunday addition of the Sun Times from one of those machines. It took my money alright, but no paper. So I called, and after spending a considerable amount of time on hold, I was completely rebuffed. I was told to come down on Monday. What about today and my leisurely breakfast while reading the paper? No such luck, I'm talking to you. read more

It's a good thing no one reads the paper anymore or there'd be a lot more people upset with this rag. Can't be upset if they don't read it though. This paper is the worst. And the staff that I have met are just awful. F- is the grade! read more

This paper had several nice articles about Cocopah Speedway prior to the Winter Nationals which were Feb. 3rd. and 4th., but have not printed a thing about Fridays races which by the way were spectacular. Maybe our racing dollars don't mean anything to Yuma. read more

History

Established in 1872.

The Yuma Daily Sun was officially born on April 10, 1896, but its history is linked to the Arizona Sentinel, which was the first newspaper in this community. Politically, the Sentinel claimed to be independent. Its first issue was published March 16, 1872, at a time when this community was still called "Arizona City." There were still fewer than 1,200 residents here at that date. A year later (Feb. 15, 1873) the name of the town was officially changed to Yuma. But the newspaper continued to be named Arizona Sentinel. In 1915, the Sentinel went through a series of mergers with other papers including the Yuma Examiner and the Yuma Southwest. It became a semi-weekly in 1920, and changed to a daily newspaper the following year. But after three years, it went back to semi-weekly publication. More mergers followed. It merged with Yuma Valley News and became the Examiner Sentinel News in 1924. It shortened its name to Yuma Examiner in 1925. And the following year it went back to a longer n

We stopped to buy yumaSun long time ago, because it became so political. We usually get it on Thanksgiving to get the blackfriday deals,, it was ok last years but not today. We got not useful ads; not Walmart, not BestBuy, not Target, Not Sams, etc. So buy this newspaper anymore! read more
