Please save yourself some time!! I normally do not write reviews on Yelp, but my experience with YPS Pool was so exceptional that I felt that they deserved a shout out. The owners, Brian and Carlos, were such a pleasure to work with as I know that I expect perfection, and boy did they deliver. On several of our meetings at my home they were always on time, and the communication between us was always met with their wanting to please, and make certain that I was happy with each step of the process. I must have interviewed at least 7 pool plaster companies, most that were qualified, but Brian stood out. He understood exactly what I wanted, and met my request that I see a pool that YPS has recently replastered in the color that I wanted being Tropics Blue. Only by actually seeing a pool in the chosen color can you appreciate what your pool will look like. Pictures and small chips are deceiving, and Brian was the only contractor that was able to show me a recently done pool, in the color that I desired. They chipped out all of my existing plaster down to the gunite....what an undertaking! Other than the expected noise all was done professionally, quickly, and they left my home only after completely cleaning up. The next day was amazing...the plaster company completely washed down my exposed gunite, and proceeded to send my chosen color, Tropics Blue, through hoses to my pool. Watching a crew of about nine workers quickly applying the plaster and troweling it to perfection. This process was repeated three times. I decided to have two bags of Puerto Rico blend added to each plaster batch, and boy I am thrilled that I decided to do this. In addition, the Puerto Rico was broadcasted throughout the pool as well before the plaster was set. The very next day the newly applied plaster was acid washed to expose the added glass (Puerto Rico Blend). Now here comes the best part. After the acid wash the pool was filled; however, as I said, I am very particular, and expressed my concern that it did not appear as I had hoped. Brian and Carlos understood my unhappiness, and immediately volunteered to redo the acid wash. Not one word of b.s.ing, or making excuses. With their only concern being to make me 100% happy they redid the acid washing, and now my pool looks exactly as I dreamed it to be. I know that this review is long, but with all the horror stories one hears about contractors these guys are exceptional. You do not need to interview anyone else as I did all the work for you. I wish you luck with your project, and I told Brian and Carlos that I would be happy to answer all questions from prospective clients. read more

I don't know where to begin. I started with about 6 different quotes and although we knew this was going to be an expensive project, we wanted to do it right. It's unfortunate to say, but many of the contractors that came by to provide me quotes, wouldn't take the time to listen to what I wanted. This takes me to YPS Pool Services, WOW!!! They stood apart from all the others. Brian came over and took his time to actually speak to me and walk me through everything. We talked so much during this process that I absolutely trusted them with all of it. The level of respect that they showed us made us feel like we really mattered. Our pool coping had earthquake damage over the skimmer. The crack weakened, and a major piece of coping broke free. YPS Pool Service did an amazing job removing the damaged coping segment without damaging any other part of our pool. They poured and shaped a replacement segment that was a near-perfect match. Once dry, the segment color will be a close match to the rest of the pool coping. Thank you for your skill and professionalism! Also, they provided a next-day repair service. YPS re-habbed our our chipped built-in rock slide. They also added new rubber stripping to the pool deck joints and added an umbrella hole to the shallow side of the pool floor. The staff were very friendly and were very low maintenance when working. They appeared very knowledgeable and experienced. Unfortunately I called Brian and he answered his phone "hello" so I thought I had the wrong number, I had to ask "Is this YPS Pool Construction?" and he said it was. Then I told him I would like to get an estimate to have our pool redone and he said he could do it at 1pm the next day. Then he said to text him my address and a photo of my pool. Then he said "See you tomorrow at 9am" so I said "I thought it was 1pm" and he said "yes sorry 1pm" but he never showed up. I texted twice asking if he was running late and could I get a new ETA? Nothing. Then I texted again later and still nothing. So I guess if he actually shows up people are happy with him but for me he's just one of the many unreliable people in Los Angeles who make appointments, don't show up and don't even bother to tell you they are running late or not coming - zero respect for someone elses time. Bad business. I find in general anyone who says "text me the info" is generally flaky. Anyone who wants your business will take the time to talk to you on the phone. After an hour he finally messaged me that he was in the hospital having a baby or something (Maybe it's true but I honestly don't belieive him) - and he was too busy to reply to me but he had somehow had the time to see my yelp review. So he didn't have time to text me that he was not showing up for the appointment he made with me but he did have time to check his yelp reviews from the hospital. Or so he claims. The only bad reviews are the people he doesn't seem to show up for. I wish he had shown up or called me. read more

Working with Carlos and Brian was a blessing. We purchased our home about 2 years ago and the pool was in bad shape. The cost to do a complete make over was exorbitant. Quote after quote and companies disappearing or not responding, I almost had given up. Maybe at 12 ft deep and 40 feet long, our project was just too big for most. I came across YPS on Facebook and reached out. Carlos and Brian showed up and were professional as could be. Their price was reasonable and Off hand we felt we finally found the right people to make our pool oasis come true. We hired them the next day and they showed up that afternoon! It was my birthday the following week and I didn't wanna get started until after as we love using our pool. It was the middle of summer as well. They pulled amazing strings to get the guys rounded up to start that day! It's hard to get my husband impressed and express the "wow factor" but every step of the way we were both blown away by their being open, fast, courteous, friendly, and promising to have the pool done by the weekend of my birthday. We were skeptical BUT they amazing pulled it off. We decided to do gray and sand colored pavers and my husband surprised me with beautiful abalone coating. We requested additional plumping stuff be done and they succeed at every request. They kept their promises and we jumped in less than 2 weeks after getting started- even after the heat wave the SFV experienced. We wanted our pool to be remodeled as it is ancient and found YPS here on Yelp. Met with Brian and want to say he is very friendly and most of all professional. After the initial quote was provided we weighed our options for many months before finally going with them. He maintained his professionalism and friendly manner throughout the entire process. Once the work started his team arrived early everyday to complete the days' tasks. And they were able to complete the entire remodel plus some additional work we asked for w/in roughly 4 weeks which was our expectation. And Brian would come check the work at each big phase in the project to make sure things were going smoothly. We started using our pool after a couple of weeks of startup and am very satisfied. Brian from YPS Pool Services helped me out when I first moved in with some pool retile work and repair of my bond beam. When I decided to resurface my pool, I gave him a call. He arrived on time and gave me various options and surface colors and textures. I decided to go with Pebble Sheen from Pebble Tec. He said he could have the entire job completed in two weeks. That was very fast and I was skeptical that he'd do a great job in the timeframe he stated. But his team did a fantastic job from start to finish. The demo of the existing pool finish was fast and it was all hauled away without needing to leave any debris on my property for any amount of time. He was also able to save the existing tile (which saved me thousands of dollars). The plaster work was done well and looked great and the Pebble Sheen is already getting lots of compliments and adds value to my home. He was even able to replace my existing lighting with some great LED lights that use less electricity and change colors. I wish I could have afforded to upgrade my heater and filter, but when I save up, I'll definitely give Brian at YPS a call. Great work! read more
