These people were very professional. I called to have a switch fixed that I was baffled on. They got me in quick. Coordinated with my tenants, even showed up early. Gave me courtesy calls. Let me know in advance an estimated cost. There was a small mix up on what I needed done, but Mark, was super awesome! Instead of getting mad that he had to come back out he just said, "No problem" and came and fixed it. This is how it should be. Good company, quality work, nice people. Very easy even when things don't go perfect. I'd work with them again and again. They're pricey, but so is all electrical work. They don't try and hide the fees from you which is nice. Mark did a bunch of odds and ends work on my old craftsman home. He is AMAZING! He was great at problem solving and finding the best way to route wires without cosmetic damage to lath and plaster walls and crumbling tile ceiling. I do not recommend this company. They did a very large job for me after the purchase of my home. They left all there garbage/ electrical panel in my trash for me to dispose of, They then billed me for items they did not complete, They left my old meter open and exposed to the weather elements and did not bother putting a cap over it. I sent a email to the Jeremy the owner In August explaining the situation, we did not hear back from them until mid December, when they called to collect funds that were not owed to them for work that was never even done the owner Jeremy came over to our home on a Saturday morning unannounced and demanded payment. I informed Jeremy I will only pay him what's owed to him when they complete the job. He told me he would send over his handy man to have the job complete well that never took place. Jeremy then text and called for payment again, I once again explained Complete your job first. He became angry with me and told me the job is complete! I said when you put a plate cover over the opening to the electrical box we will call It complete. There was a huge communication break down with this company. Okay, let me just say this...I don't know why you'd go anywhere else for electrical work. Young Electric installed a Tesla charging station in my garage today. What a fantastic experience I had with these folks. I dealt with Justin over the telephone and was genuinely impressed with the customer service he provided. I had a problem that had to be worked through and Justin went over and above in providing me phone support and service. I could not have been more satisfied than I was after speaking to Justin. Justin is the boss. Normally, employees are a reflection of their boss and I found this to be true of Young Electric when the electrician showed up at my house. Within a couple hours, an electrician arrived at my house. His name was Mark Nickolauson and I can honestly say that no one has every provided service at any of my homes in my entire life that rivaled the professionalism and competency that I received from Mark. And he is a genuinely nice person. He finished the work in a very short time, he cleaned up the work area to the point that it looked better when he left than when he arrived. Our conversation was so good while he was working that I felt like I made a friend. Look no further than Young Electric for any of your electrical needs. Tesla owners...these guys know exactly what they are doing and you would be impressed to see how professionally the installation was performed by Mark Nickolauson. I just purchased a new Model X. New Model X and Model S vehicles come standard now with the high capacity charging feature. Mark installed 100 Amp service in my breaker box so I will be charging my Model X at the quickest rate possible today in a home charger. The 100 Amp service charges the Model X more than 3 hours faster than 60 Amp service. If you have the panel to support it, you will definitely want 100 Amp service and Young Electric definitely knows how to install the higher amperage circuit. Pasting my complaint to the Better Business Bureau. Young Electric screwed up $7000 worth of work at our house last year. They put a massive power panel in the middle of the back of our house creating an eye sore in our $100,000 backyard remodel. This panel could have been put on the left side of our house, but they opted for the easier solution of putting in smack dab in the middle of our yard. They also left big grey piping along our foundation when it could have been buried rather than creating another eye sore. They piped the electrical for our pool pump so far away that we had to use an extension cord which is against the regulations, that they should be aware of and had access to the manual that stated this. They failed to install an outlet that was part of the bid. They dumped toxic glue on the ground where an organic pollinator garden was being built and tried to bury it, saying it was no big deal. A year later I decided to give them the chance to make it right because we needed more electrical work. The owner Jeremy came over and I explained everything to him. He agreed that the work was lazy and could have been done better and he agreed to make it right by having his handyman build a wooden panel to match our new fence, over the eye sore of the electrical panels. He said this would create a focal point instead of an eye sore. We agreed and hired them for this next $2000 job. They did the job but didn't install a light fixture as promised. We still haven't received an inspection. Jeremy then cancelled the handyman appointment to build the panel. We spoke once and he said he would get it figured out and call me back. It's been a month and he will not call me back and is refusing to do the work that he promised in exchange for the second job. Now he is trying to charge us over $1000 to build the panel. I told his receptionist that I would be filing a complain with the BBB and writing reviews online if he didn't call me back in 48 hours and it's been five days. read more

I recently hired Young Electric for a small remodel project including swapping out old outlets, light/switch and a ceiling fan in a vaulted area and was SO impressed! They far exceeded my expectations from my initial inquiry to scheduling to the job completion - all was just top notch. For that level of service I was expecting a high price tag but even that was extremely reasonable - in fact the final price was around half of what I was expecting to pay based on my shopping around. Snafu made right by Young Electric. Will use again for future electrical work. I purchased an car charger online from ClipperCreek, and on their website they recommended Young Electric as good electricians to do any related work in the Portland Area. In my case, I needed a new 240v plug added in my garage. First of all, Young Electric was available to come to my home within like 2 business days to do the work - so fast, in fact, that my car charger hadn't even arrived yet! Megan arrived promptly and described various options for where and how we might add the plug in my garage. We ended up placing it very near the electrical box, which seemed like the best solution at the time. Cost: $795. Fast forward 24 hours: It turns out the cable that runs from the charger to the 240v wall outlet is only 12" long. 12 inches! And there was nowhere within a foot of the electrical box to mount the ClipperCreek charger. I call ClipperCreek immediately, assuming the cord could simply be lengthened - but they say it cannot. (It's some national regulation, I guess?) (Note: that this fact is not listed on their website, and is only listed on page 26 of the manual. Literally. I was then and remain pretty disappointed with ClipperCreek about obfuscating a piece of information that feels extremely important for any consumer to know.) So now I'm left with a "useless" $795 plug installed in a place that won't work for the car charger I purchased, installed by the electrical team (Young Electric) that was recommended from ClipperCreek's website! A tough spot - no one person's fault, if you ask me, but it feels pretty lame as a consumer to be the one left holding the bag in these types of situations. I'm sure we've all been there. A few phone calls later to Young Electric, though, and they made a very happy customer out of me: they offered to come out and relocate the plug at their expense. I was very clear with them in my earlier phone calls (before the work) about which model I would be installing, and from my perspective (and apparently theirs) I did everything I could have feasibly done as a consumer. In the end, the relocation/"re-do" only took about 30 minutes, but regardless I very much appreciate them listening to my situation and standing behind their name being listed on the ClipperCreek website as qualified installers - i.e. taking responsibility for a misstep that was perhaps not 100% their fault, but one that (in my opinion) they were in the best position to catch and then remedy. And they did! For me, that's 5-star service. And the work looks good, too. Thank you to Justin, Megan, Mark, and Jeremy for their time on the phone and on site at my house. read more

Horrible experience with this company and will never use again. I had a breaker that kept tripping. The electrician came out, told me he found "no problems," but replaced the breaker anyway. Total charges for less than 30 minutes worth of work was $290. The breaker stopped working again two months later and when I called to see about the company coming out again, I was informed that I would be charged if it was anything other than the breaker itself. I had a guy come out, who told me he couldn't fix the problem and that they would have to come back for an estimate to do a partial re-wire of the house. He had a bit of an arrogant attitude of the sort, well this is an old house with bad wiring- you should expect to have problems. Anyway, called another company for a second opinion (Viking Electric) and the guy came out pretty quickly and fixed the problem! So either the guy from Young Electric didn't know what he was doing or what's more likely he pegged me as dumb and tried to get me to spend a few thousand on a much bigger job than needed. read more

Since Friday (1/14 and today being 1/16), I have received 5 requests to provide a review. They request that I call them (not that they would ever pick up the phone and talk to a customer) if there are things I was not happy with. After reading this review you will see why that is not going to happen! So, here is my review, and I have never written such a detailed review but I feel in this case it to be very necessary. On Dec 1 Josh of YoungElectricCo (YEC) came to my house to provide an estimate of work that included installing a 240 Interlock switch for our portable generator, and a 240 service to the garage to charge my hybrid plugin vehicle. He was great to talk to and provided his suggestions of how to accomplish this work. Overall I was very impressed. The next day I received his bid and accepted it and provided the required 50% down. I then received a start date of 1/13/22. About a week and a half before the start date I received notification that they would be showing up on 1/13 between 8 and 8:30am. The next day I got a call from a lady asking if I had the trench work done. I said no and stated that I was totally unaware that I had to do this - a complete surprise to me. She proceeded to let me know that I was made fully aware of this and it was company policy for customers to be fully informed "that YEC does not do that work". I told her that I was not a liar and did not appreciate her tone. She apologized but still insisted that Josh (the estimator of the work) would have made that clear to me and I insisted that did not happen! I, the customer, was left in a lurch trying to figure out how to get this done in such a short time! I asked if she could provide some companies that could do this work and she did. I called Axiom Excavations who jumped to the challenge to help me out and did get the job done just three days before the 1/13 start date. I also looked at my YEC invoice to see where I went wrong. On the YEC invoice was written "Trenching and backfill by others. Note: Trenches must be 24 inches deep." I truly thought this was subcontracted work that I would be additionally billed for. If it had stated "Trench work to be arranged by the customer, no less than 24 inches deep, and to be completed prior to our start date" would have spawned a call from this customer to find out how I would be able to accomplish this! This to me was NOT quality customer service and I am still left puzzled by this! When Axiom did come and to do the trench work, they had so many questions. The main question was should they backfill before the electrical work is done or after. I had no idea nor was there a YEC representative present to answer their questions. I called the main office and they clarified that the backfill should be done after the electrical work is complete. All other questions I just told them to do what they have done in the past with other customers. It seemed to work out just fine. I will give a 5 star review for Axiom - Alysia was awesome to work with and decided to stop putting the customer in the middle of everything and started working directly with YEC. They are such a great company to work with and I would highly recommend Axiom to anyone. Before they left on Friday, the team lead, Jose, walked me through everything they had done to ensure I was happy!! On a good note, the two YEC young men that came to do the electrical work were awesome (Lalo and Juan) - very polite , kept me informed, and asked my input on things they were not sure of. They performed exceptional high quality work! To them I give 4 stars and not 5 only because they did not test out the Interlock system for our portable generator. Also, upon leaving the premises on Friday did not do a walkthrough with the customer. And they left with the garage switch turned off - I turned it back on and truly hoped all would be good, and it was fortunately good- again not tested. Not to mention trash left in our bins and only light cleanup was performed. We only get to put our trash barrel once every two weeks, so yes it matters! To YEC I would give 3 stars (4 for the electricians and 2 for the company) and will never recommend them to any of my friends or family, as well as I will take my business else ware next time. (4 stars plus 2 divided by 2 equals a total of 3 stars.) read more
