Full-On Tasting in session @ Yorba
Michelangelo S.

Yummy Yorba, YASSS! SITREP State HWY 49 which runs through Amador County has a very pleasant stop in the hamlet of Sutter Creek. Because within this delightful burg is a plethora of wine bars! In the aggregate, this coalition of the willing wineries, makes "The Epic Wine Crawl of HWY 49." And literally at the far end of this main drag through town resides Yorba Wines ("Yorba"). https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/yorba-wines-sutter-creek?select=QDRbl_xgYlVuLYhQBGGFlQ&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w [And, unfortunately, I can't say their name without the movie track from Zorba the Greek scrolling through my head. I KNOW, I KNOW, it has nothing to do with Zorba, but the similar alliteration. There you go.] THE SETUP Yorba has a full array of vintages, from reds to whites, to dessert wines, and they are all good. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/yorba-wines-sutter-creek?select=57ltzw4dHThEsTuH43NmeQ&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w * But the ROSADO was their standout offering for me (since I'm not a full-on red kind of guy such as a Cabernet Savignon which is not my preference), - it is so refreshing; https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/yorba-wines-sutter-creek?select=mgzVPV-6wBcxdrRFkajAjg&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w * And yet as far as reds go, definitely try their BARBERA. For me, much more aromatic, with light notes, and delicious taste. COMPATRIOTS You are measured by the company you keep, and if you are with some crazy ladies, chances are you will have a lot more fun! ADDICTIONS What was it with those breadsticks?!? I could not stop eating them! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/yorba-wines-sutter-creek?select=ORfLYZTvo1C1m7T4-l7Gmw&userid=3mNz5nQFTIBQm0oU5mBR0w THE LOWDOWN Come to Amador County, take a trek down HWY 49 into the lovely burg of Sutter Creek, and then stop in and check out Yorba Wines.

While in the area to attend an private event, our small group checked out a few Sutter Creek tasting rooms. On the north end of 49, Nancy and Robert V suggested Yoruba as our first stop. An old house converted into a tasting room. The large front room has a tasting bar area and two separate seating areas. Out back is a small patio area. $5 a person got us a six glass flight and lots of smiles from our server. The fee is waived with a wine purchase. We started with a delicious and very pale rose, then tried their Zinfandel, Barbera, Syrah, Tempranillo, and finished with the Shake Ridge red blend. There's a small public parking lot across the street. Four max time limit.

My new favorite winery. Not my new favorite tasting room, not my new favorite winery in Sutter Creek, but my new favorite winery. Period. It's been a long time since I was this impressed with a wine tasting. Thankfully, Yorba is close to home and I am seriously considering becoming a wine club member! I couldn't help but fall in love with the place as soon as I walked in the door. A long handsome wood bar and an instant smile and warm welcome from the wonderful Kelsey, who as it turns out is extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Yorba. Her enthusiasm was infectious. We went down the list of six varieties offered and each tasted better than the last. I usually get an "F" when it comes to attempting wine descriptions, but with Kelsey's assistance I was assured that my pallet is in line with the tasting notes provided and written by her personally. Every wine here is absolutely amazing. We had trouble choosing and finally went home with a 2017 Rosado and the 2011 Zin. If budget allowed, we would have walked away with every one. Folks, I'm not exaggerating. Try Yorba out for yourself the next time you come through Sutter Creek, or use it as the perfect excuse to go in the first place!

A friend became a member of your of your wine club. The first bottle of Shake Ridge was good then we opened the Tempranillo which was horrible. The cork had a leak in it and let air in. Today we opened the Zinfandel and again.. Horrible!! The cork split in half and has wine marks 1/4 the way up the cork. You may want to speak to your cork suppliers or your bottler. Absolutely horrible to spend $35 per bottle and have it taste rancid.

Excellent conversation, layout, and friendly vibe. We really enjoyed tasting here and her local kindness. We stayed for over an hour but time flew by so we didn't notice. We learned a lot about the wine industry and process. Thank you!!!

Enjoyed beautiful wines here with two of my favorite friends. We did the 6-pour tasting and brought home a few bottles to share with friends over the holidays. The warm atmosphere, coupled with the lovely, informative ladies, is terrific. Be sure to check out the art and hear the winery's story. This is the perfect place to start or finish your day in Sutter. They are also happy to hold your purchases while you tour the town.

If the grapes are from Amador County, chances are good that they are from that vineyard.

This place is not only a place to taste wine, but cheese too! I tried cheese from Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and Iowa. There were 4 cheeses and wine pairings for $15 each which is a great deal. They also had other appetizers to choose from for purchase. We had the shrimp fritters and they were exceptional cooked to perfection with a lovely homemade sauce. Gary the owner was the chef. It's a unique little shop on the main road right down from Sutter Creek Hotel! Tammy's son also works there Evan, he was busy cutting and weighting cheese to sell out of the cheese case up front. There a couple tables in the front, along with a couple tall tables in the back and a small bar with stools in the far back. The only bad thing is there isn't a public bathroom so you must cross the street and walk about a half block to the public restrooms. Other than drop in for a tasting you won't be disappointed!!!

Negative was that she almost- surly? Like you could tell she was definitely not happy to be there. Says she was thinking about buying the business from a current owner. Also the rate online was 25 per hour. She charged us 180 for 5 hours-apparently 30 per hour plus her pre-determined "tip". Hmmmm. Not worth fighting over and definitely cheaper than a dui but if there are options, maybe try those. I just paid the lady and I definitely wish her well but that was not awesome.

Dannette came 30 mins late, no reason or apology given. She was upset that she didn't get to sit with us at the second winery. She left us at the third winery to pick up our take-out order and should have been back within 40 minutes. Almost an hour and a half after she left, she finally answered my call and said she'd be back soon- she came 30 minutes after the winery had closed, she was not in our car/ was in a different car (that didn't fit all of us), had not picked up the food. She didn't have gas and again had no apology or reason for any of this. It was very unprofessional, dangerous, and quite frankly scary. We almost called law enforcement since we didn't know where she had taken our car. Do NOT recommend going anywhere near this business.- WAY BETTER OPTION https://www.amadorwinecountrytoursllc.com/about
