Yolo Transfer was outstanding and professional. The team, Travis, Mike, David, John, Harley, Daniel and Maggie were respectful, courteous, and listened to our concerns. We had a lot of furniture to move and the team took great care of handling it, not one item was broken. We even had 3 pieces of marble to be crated and all 3 pieces arrived in excellent condition. We were introduced to Travis in the beginning and he made the whole project seem easy, he was excellent and made us feel comfortable with the complete process. Maggie, who I spoke with interoffice kept us informed and was very nice to speak to. We moved over 500 miles and Mike with Yolo Transfer handled the entire drive. Mike was great and professional. We were quoted a very low rate at their estimate, it was a "not to exceed rate" they ended up needing about an extra 2 hours, because their estimate was way off, but in the contact the rate was supposed to be the absolute maximum. The supervisor wouldn't leave until we paid well over the amount they quoted. They also damaged a few walls in the newly renovated house. read more

AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE! Please do yourself a favor and run as fast and as far away as you can if you hear this company's name. My wife hired this company for a single family pack-and-move from Woodland, CA to Sacramento (about 30 miles). We did the majority of the packing, but they still charged us for all of it, despite quoting us a discounted price depending on how much we packed. I had to work on the day of the move, but we had hired movers, and my wife was there, so I did not believe that this would have been an issue. I could not have been more wrong. I came home from work to find my wife in tears, and my new home looking like a disaster. The items they did pack were in mislabeled boxes, almost without exception. Boxes were put into random rooms of the new house without any sort of rhyme or reason. Fragile items and electronics were stacked under heavy items leading to damage. Many boxes were half-full. Boxes were stacked high in the middle of rooms, and low next to walls. The real kicker was that they left about 40 boxes, including boxes containing electronics, outside on a back patio, purportedly because they could not find room indoors. However, during the weeks-long game of I-wonder-where-this-item-might-be that was our unpacking experience, we discovered large areas of completely unused space hidden behind walls of boxes. The move-in could not have been accomplished more poorly had they tried, which I somewhat suspect may have been the case. Several of the movers, as well as the gentleman who seemed to be their immediate supervisor, were surly and rude. They were clearly not happy about having to do their jobs, and apparently incensed at the prospect of taking directions from a woman. One employee flew into a rage when my wife told him that a small piece of furniture should not have been taken to the new house, and hurled said piece of furniture across the lawn. The last straw was the fact that they actually had the gall to come back at the end of the process and charge us thousands of dollars more than we had agreed to pay after the move was, "completed." My father, who is 80 years old, and has stage 4 cancer and congestive heart failure, was the one who wrote the actual check. After my wife, who had been the only point of contact with their representative, explained that we had no intention of paying more for what had been a terrible experience and a sub-standard job, one of their employees went behind her back to hit up dad for more money. This is flat-out illegal, prohibited by black-letter state law. On top of all of this, they did not do the job they agreed to do, or upon which their original quote was based. They charged us the amount they had quoted to pack the entire house (plus $2,000, in the end), when we had packed more than half of it ourselves. The final cost for this move, not including the many hundreds of dollars it cost to do what they were paid to do, but didn't, was over $8,000.00 A number of items were supposed to be moved into storage and were instead moved into the house. And a number of other items which were agreed to be moved were left behind. They completely ignored every item that was outside in the yard, on the front and back porches, and in a shed. We ended up having to rent a truck and spend another day ourselves moving all of the items that these folks were paid to move, but didn't. I may rewrite this review at some point to include all of the miserable details from that day, as well as the photos we took of the aftermath. For now, please save yourself from an experience much more miserable than this brief review can illustrate. Hire half-a-dozen college students, or even a dozen meth addicts for your move, as either group would do a better job, and cost you less. read more

We had a great experience using Yolo Transfer to move from San Francisco to the Sacramento area. They showed up at 7:30am on a Saturday, packed up our 1 bedroom apartment, and had all the boxes moved into our new place by 2:30pm (including the 2 hour drive time). The movers were really courteous and thoughtful with our things, making sure to check before they packed certain items (appliances to make sure they were coming with us, our xfinity TV box so we knew where that ended up to be able to cancel our service). They were also really helpful at our final location with placing furniture exactly as we asked. We would use them if we move again in the area! read more

This company is very professional, honest, hard working, courteous, reasonably priced and the best of the last 3 companies we moved with in the last year. Travis went above and beyond fixing a stain on my mother's leather chairs that were there when he come out to give her a quote. He also took extra furniture to donate on his own effort when we asked if he could do it. Harlan and David also went above and beyond by loading my sister's truck with furniture that wouldn't fit in my mom's new apartment. They had to do more than what we initially asked and only charged a small extra amount. They were so kind patient and helpful. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Yolo Transfer moved us February 2025. They failed to deliver all of our goods that we entrusted to them. Five items of a value of $2500 did not make it to our new home. They were disinterested in our complaint of our missing items. A moving container had been carefully sealed with packing materials and when it arrived, the item had clearly been opened and there were items missing. I filed a police report with Davis police and they said that I couldn't charge the company with theft, but rather with breach of contract - a civil case - since they did not adequately perform the job they were hired to do. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. That is why I am writing this review. read more

The movers broke so many items, crushed bins, damaged furniture- it's too much to list. If you don't care if your stuff is damaged and you get a penny on the dollar to fix it (forget about replacing anything), these are your guys. Truck was too small so they just crushed stuff to make it fit. Mattresses were strapped to the back. Nice Beverley Hillbilly way to move. Do NOT use them. The cost to move was $1200 over the quoted price. No one would show me the scale weight either. read more

I would highly recommend this moving service. Travis Adams is super to work with. He gave me a reasonable quote and bent over backwards to adjust to our ever changing move date. Because we were trying to close on one house and buy another the date kept changing. Each time Travis was patient and said, we'll make it work - and he did! The four man crew, with two 26' trucks showed up on move day at 7am. These guys worked their behinds off for 7 straight hours in insufferable heat without a complaint. They meticulously wrapped stuff I didn't have packaged right. We arrived at our new home with nothing missing and nothing broken. To top it all off, when the last box was moved in and I had to pay the bill, it was several hundred dollars less that what they quoted. Yolo Transfer moved my 90 year old Grandma 10 months ago and she's still paying the consequences of the move. They damaged 5 furniture. The damage included: breaking the motor of her bed that couldn't be replaced, shattering of her frost glass shelf, and deep scratches on three dresser. My grandma reported the damaged, it was verified by the company's assessor. The company failed to fix any of the damages, did not pay her back, and neglected her calls. Out of my grandma dozen of moves in her lifetimes, Yolo Transfer was the most painful. We do not recommend. read more

We were relocating our 1 bedroom apartment from Marin to San Jose. Our work booked this company and when I read the Yelp reviews, I was a little nervous but the move went very smooth. Maria was in touch with us prior to the move to make sure everything was in order. The crew (John, Joseph, Clayton) were very professional. We paid for the packing and moving so we did not have to prepare or pack anything before hand. They packed everything into the appropriate boxes and labeled them so we knew where to unload them at the new place. Everything was packed with a very generous amount of packing paper. We spent the last two days unpacking everything and did not find anything missing or broken. The only hiccup and hence four-star review was because we were told an ETA of 7:30-8am the day before and the actual arrival time was 8:40am so we waited around a bit longer than expected and things were slightly behind schedule. This is a family run business. The team was FABULOUS, FRIENDLY, and always willing to help!!!! We had 22 years worth of accumulated "life" that they packed and moved for us in two days. Never again. So much stuff damaged on my mom's move. She is still waiting for he adjustable bed to be fixed. She hasn't been able to adjust it for 7 months since the move. Not a great situation for a 90 y/o to deal with. There is also apparently small print capping their liability for damaged property to $.20/lb unless you buy insurance for them. Other items are broken glass shelves, scratched furniture, ripped veneer, etc. They sent one repair person to evaluate it, he gave them a report then two months later they sent a second repair person. I have gone months without any update calls for the items they are allegedly fixing. My realtor recommended them and I gave him feedback so hopefully he is no longer recommending them. STAY AWAY! Just wished there was a rating below "Not Good". "Abysmal" would be a good category. read more

I researched several operations when looking for folks to load out our ABF-U-Pack trailer. I spoke with Yolo Transfer and they were very professional and kind. We set the time and date up several weeks prior to the load out date. They stayed in communication with me to insure we would be good to go. John & Joseph showed up on time and went to work. We moved across town recently. I specifically showed the head mover our antique plaster statue which has been in my family for 3 generations. They did not box it, only stood it up wrapped in a blanket and it was broken on arrival. With the exception of one mover there has been no apology, interest or remorse. We were told to get estimates and we found someone to repair for $2200. Yolo grudgingly is paying $150. We chose a local mover to help business but are very disappointed in every aspect of Yolo Transfer. Terrible experience and service. read more

We had Yolo Transfer move us from Davis to Oakland, and I have to say they are the best movers I've worked with so far. They are friendly, courteous, and professional. They came right on time, and were highly efficient -- they were even ahead of schedule -- wow! It was a fairly hassle-free move, especially considering the fact that they had to come to day before to pack us up, finish packing the next morning, and then move our stuff 75 miles! We asked that they leave some things at the house so that we could stay the night before the move (rather than going to a hotel), and it went off without a hitch! I particularly appreciate that, on the day before the move, they were able to pack the boxes into the truck rather than leaving stacks and stacks of boxes in the house. If I could give zero starts I would. We had the worst moving experience. The owner and office staff overcharged us over $1,000 and when we brought the overcharges to their attention, they threatened us that if we didn't pay we wouldn't get our stuff. We have documentation to prove that the charges should not have been on the final invoice but the owner didn't care. They loaded things on the moving truck that should not have been moved and the owner took things from our garage that didn't belong to them without telling us. Since we moved our belongings into a storage unit, we have no idea if they broke anything during the move. Extremely angry that we were treated so horrible by the owner and office staff. We do not recommend using this company. They are dishonest and will rip you off. read more

I normally don't waste time writing Yelp reviews, but I had to do this one. These guys are fantastic. We had a large move - 80 boxes, four bedrooms and they absolutely came through. I was struck how friendly they all were, from the first five minutes of the move. These things are hectic, stressful, and exhausting - but Mike and the crew were pleasant to work with. It turned out that we had more stuff than they anticipated but they sent an extra truck at no charge. More movers showed up to help unload - again no extra charge. They provided free boxes (leftovers from others who asked them to unpack and haul out boxes) and most importantly were very professional. Highly recommended. read more

I moved with Zippy Shell and Yolo was the third party selected to deliver my container from warehouse to house. While Zippy Shell was horrendous, Yolo made the move much less stressful at the end. They sent 3 movers who all did an amazing job unloading for me. They asked where I wanted things, but also didn't have to ask for obvious things like washer/dryer. They were very careful and didn't scratch my walls, and they worked quickly. It took about an hour to unload a 15ft container. I think they saw that I was wearing a mask and took the cue and wore theirs. I know it's extremely hot and miserable to wear a mask while working outside in the heat, so I'm grateful they took the precaution anyway. The office called me the day before to confirm delivery and schedule, and the movers arrived when they said they would - even coming from 3 hours away. Called for a quote to move us to Clearlake. Dan came to out storage units and gave us a quote. We checked out others and chose Yolo Transfer. They arrived on time with 4 men, had the 10x20 and a 10x25 wrapped and loaded in 3 1/2 hours. Arrived at new house on time, with 3 men and unloaded and placed items where we wanted them. Unwrapped items and helped us move things when we changed our minds for placement. Cleaned up after themselves. Extremely cordial and accommodating. Finally cost came in under quote. I have used this company twice. The first time was back in 2014 which was a great experience moving from one house in Vacaville to another house in Vacaville. However I cannot say the same of our latest move in September of this year 2017. We moved from a home in Vacaville, Yolo Transfer stored the contents of our home for approximately 1 month, then moved it to our new home in Fairfield. They lost the top of our outdoor table and damaged a one of a kind oil painting. The wheel from our artificial Christmas tree was broken off and a few of our boxes were severely damaged. Luckily the contents of those boxes weren't damaged as they were children's books. Our bar was also scratched during the move. When we brought these issues to Yolo Transfer they sent us a claim with no explanation. We completed the form and returned it. About a month later we received a check in the mail with nothing but final settlement. The amount of the check didn't even cover the tabletop they lost. When we called Yolo Transfer we were told that there coverage for lost or damaged items is 60 cents per pound. If you choose to use Yolo Transfer I would highly recommend purchasing additional insurance as you will likely need it as they did not take proper care when moving/storing the contents of our home. We will not be using them for any future moves. We were extremely disappointed. read more

Josh was great to work with, despite some challenges to the job. They had a most difficult time with the delivery...Seattle in a busy area...the access to the building required an early, early morning arrival and a great deal of effort to fit the truck into the available space. Since 1996 I have been involved with moving a 500 employee company, 30 employee company, and 2 single family homes using Yolo Transfer. The first time, we used them unintentionally via another big name mover in the area that outsources Yolo for their VIP clients. My latest office move went off without a hitch and they came in at 50% of the quotes from 3 other reputable movers! We took a lot of photos of the move in 1996 and laid them out on the counter to show Yolo during our move-out this year. Amazingly, one of the guys moving us in 2015 was in the pictures in 1996! They took his deposit and then two days before the move, they sent an email saying they went bankrupt! Plus we asked them to split the delivery into three different destinations. Quite complex and potentially confusing. They excelled.
