I'm trying this again....I wrote this review for shana months ago on an old Yelp account but it didn't post: I completed a two week intensive YTT with Shana this past July and was challenged in all aspects of mind, body and spirit. If you are looking for a teacher training that will transform your yoga practice both on and off the mat Shana's program is definitely one to consider. Quick background on me: I am a Christian, a wife, a mother of 3 and a self-taught yogi. I stumbled upon yoga 7 years ago and fell in love with the practice. Finally, I decided I was ready to deepen my own practice and found Shana. I found her on youtube when searching for crazy yoga poses, and then connected with her on Instagram and have not stopped liking her since. Her program is enriching, fundamental, and foundational. Even if you've practiced for a while you will find even more grounding and will experience some "ooh yeah," light bulb, awakening, revelatory moments. I am truly thankful to be able to call her teacher and have her insightful guidance for all the years to come. Yoga is about the mind transformation and her training delivers. I went in with only the thought of deepening my own practice but discovered that it was my way of self-preservation. I have fears, limitations and lack of confidence in self because of past child hood traumas so I never saw myself as one to teach others. Under Shana's training and faith in God, I experienced a cataclysmic transformation of my mind that enriched my soul. To have perspective, it takes a shift in the mind, a gained control of insight and gratitude in all things whether its perceived happiness or pain - all guided through faith. I'm truly thankful for the intense 14 days of training and being able to connect with Shana as a teacher along with all the beautiful yogis that were there - they are precious to me. I learned to calm my nerves through practical meditation, knowing that I'm loved and everything that I am is enough. I love every aspect of the program. Her teaching is methodical. I would say that my own base personal practice is good, but Shana's training only helped to further refine it. You will not be disappointed if you are looking for a fundamentally enriching experience. Namaste read more

I flew all the way from Canada to take the 200 hr with Shana. Sure I could've done a training for way cheaper locally, but Yoga is my passion and I wanted the best learning experience and boy did Shana deliver. I wish I had done this sooner because so many things clicked for me and it revolutionized my practice. But it's better late than never and I feel very confident in being able to teach a good quality class and help students get the benefit of doing yoga in a mindful way that Shana has taught me. Yoga has changed my life and got me through a lot of tough times including divorce and a toxic work environment. There's something about yoga that resonates so strongly with me that I feel compelled to share it. I'm so glad that I chose to learn with Shana because she really enabled me to share the gift of yoga. The physical practice of Yoga has really exploded in north america, it ranges from faddy goats or beer yoga to insta yoga trying to look pretty. To me, traditional physical yoga is meant to ease the body to cleanse the mind. If that's what you're looking for, good luck trying to find a better teacher than Shana. She'll teach you what you need to learn in a intuitive, intense but gentle way. You can tell she knows what she's doing from her online presence, but to get to learn from such an experienced teacher in person is something else. If you're dedicated in your practice, you can't go wrong learning from Shana read more

YOGAthletica - Yoga Near Me

Shana is the BESTEST yoga instructor in all of the Seven Kingdoms. Not only will she push and encourage you to try poses you didn't know you could do, she repeatedly makes sure you do it all in good form so you don't develop athletic injury. Having near zero yoga experience, but just the willingness to try, Shana helped me get into a wall supported scorpion pose the very first day. Yogathleteica has helped with my strength in balancing, physical mindfulness (proprioception), and relieved much of the back pains I used to have. After practicing for more than a year now I can't imagine not having her teachings in my life. read more

YOGAthletica - First day of Yogathletica. Third yoga session of my life. Shana will get you doing things you never thought you could. - Yoga Near Me

I go to her public classes every Tuesday. She is by far the best class in the area. I was feeling very stagnant in my practice hungry for more and she is the only teacher who has been able to give me the tools I needed to grow. Nothing can compensate for the interactive experience of going to this class. Her alignment cues are great! There is always something new to learn and always new ways to challenge yourself. I moved 20 miles away and will still make the trip in to her class because she is more than worth it! After attending her class for a while I decided to take her 200hr teacher training. It has redefined yoga for me and my practice. This course is truly quality. I will forever be changed for the better having had this experience and am thrilled to discover what happens next. read more

I love yoga with Shana. Here's why: 1. Physically: I feel like I get pushed to my limit in every class, and I'm always glad to find it, even on (especially on?) nights when I didn't feel like going in the first place. Strength, endurance, core, and confidence in spades. 2. Mentally: The best yoga gets you out of your head for a little while. This is the best yoga. 3. Spiritually: As a guide, Shana is equally wise and unpretentious, with room for everyone from the flakiest gooney-guru to staunch materialists like myself. 4. Atmospherically: The vibe in the class is supportive without being too soft, and serious without being solemn. You'll learn some Sanskrit etymology and some epic dad jokes. 5. Core.* *The answer to every question. read more

Shana is an excellent yoga teacher, one of the best in the LA area. I've been learning from her for years, and she's really helped improve my practice through practicable techniques. She actually *teaches yoga teachers how to teach yoga*. What else do you need to know? read more

I have been going to YOGAthletica for over a year and I think Shana's class is the BEST. Here, you can make request of which part of your body you want to focus on/which pose you want to master and Shana will make sure you curse yourself for making such request. Shana is very detailed with her instruction and she paces the class so that you will feel challenged in all the poses. When it comes to more advanced poses, she will encourage you to try your best. The studio here is large and clean. So if you are like me who do not like crowded studio classes, this will be heaven for you. Plus, you will never have to worry about parking since there are plenty of street parking (free after 8pm) and a few spots in the garage. COME HERE AND YOU WON'T REGRET IT !!! read more

YOGAthletica is a place where you can be yourself and work on improving without feeling judged. Shana Myerson is extremely friendly, helpful, quick-witted and detail oriented. Whether it's through live classes, YouTube videos or her dedicated Vimeo channel, Shana will improve your Yoga practice and your sense of self-awareness, as she did with me. Highly recommended read more

I've been studying with Shana Meyerson for a while now, and have both seen her in person in her yoga studio where I took some privates with her and also follow her Vimeo and YouTube classes online and I've done private Skype lessons with her and she is the real deal. Shana has a strong yoga practice herself, which I respect in a teacher and she is truly a master of the asanas, the vinyasa transitions, and the smart exit and entry into poses with modifications as need be. I live in the east coast or I would be practicing with her all the time. She has such a deep sense of devotion to her students, and a wonderful sense of humor and can teach you ANYTHING you want and teach it safely and smartly. LOVE SHANA and highly recommend her! read more

Shana: You rocked my world! I so enjoyed every minute of our time together and it went by so fast. Thank you for your patience, guidance and willingness to work with me. I'm so lucky to have found you there aren't words to express my gratitude. You've given me back my practice and so much more. One of my favorite chants has a line that says, "tamaso ma jyotirgamaya" lead me from darkness to light.........and you did! With my deepest gratitude Michael read more

I first met Shana at one of her community classes in LA. One and a half grueling hours later I left her class dripped in sweat and exhausted but with a great sense of fulfillment from the practice I had just endured. This was unlike any yoga class I've experienced in LA- Shana interacted with the class, there was no music (gasp!), vinyasa "flow" was stopped at times as poses were workshopped with everyone- all of which can either be good or bad pending your particular style. However, if you're willing to travel a bit out of your comfort zone you'll find an instructor that is extremely knowledgable that tests the limits of both mind/body. I feel like I've already learned so much about my own practice with Shana but seem to gain a little bit more after each class I attend. Apparently the classes weren't enough though so I signed up for YOGAthletica's 200 hour intensive teacher training between July - August 2015 at Red Diamond. Taken over the course of 16 full day sessions Shana's teacher training was an amazing experience that strengthened the very foundation of my Yoga practice. She picked apart and explained fundamental poses in such a logical fashion that you could find similar applications when moving on to more advanced poses. Her teaching approach gives you plenty of opportunity to receive a fair amount of one-on-one attention while also strengthening your own instructing practice with other students. She keeps the lessons casual and interactive which really brings a great sense of inclusiveness to the group. Although unsure if teaching yoga was going to be the ultimate goal from this experience, I left the training confident in my ability to not only instruct beginner-to-intermediate yogis (aka my friends and family) on proper pose alignment but also guide fully sequenced lessons. Oh did I mention you leave super fit too after all those vinyasas??? Extra bonus! Long story short, I highly recommend Shana if you're interested in strengthening your own Yoga practice. As someone originally drawn in by the physical aspects of yoga, I can say her classes will test even the most fit individuals. However, if you want to deepen you knowledge and understanding of YOGA, then Shana's 200-hour teacher training is a great experience to strengthen both the mind and body. read more

I've taken both mini yogis and 200 hour training with Shana. Not only is she an incredible athlete; she's an approachable yogini with a keen sense of humor. Studying with her is hard work, yet very entertaining and informative. Her knowledge of asana will deepen anyone's practice. I really had no idea how much went into each pose. I'm a changed woman (for the better) after my 200 hours. :) read more

Shana is an incredible master teacher of yoga! She pushes you to limits you never thought imaginable and she really knows what she's doing. I took her 200 hour and her mini yogis and you can see her passion when she teaches. Highly recommend taking all of her workshops! read more

I have been with Shana since 2009 when I came to her group classes, not having ever taken yoga in my life. Shana's classes are not beginner classes in terms of difficulty (they are very challenging), but they are the best classes to learn the basics! Why? Because Shana will explain correct alignment, answer your questions, and encourage you to try that pose that you thought you could never do (and you will soon be able to do it). If you keep going to beginner classes with other instructors, your progress will be slow, but if you attend Shana's challenging classes, your practice will grow exponentially! At first you might think that the class is too hard for you and get intimidated by the fact that you can't do some poses and the students around you can, but don't forget that others were just like you when they started. In fact, some of the students around you (like me) might actually not be able to do a certain pose because they might not be flexible in those muscles (or a different reason), but you might be able to pull it off! Don't get discouraged! If you need to take a break, is it okay to take a break! If you fall, slowly get back into the pose. Try, try again! Patience will help you achieve your goals! Just keep coming back every week (and don't forget to repeat at home). The class is also interactive. You get to interact with the other students and with Shana and get a fun workout! read more

Over the past 8 years, I've been to almost every great yoga teacher in Los Angeles. The only one who's kept me coming back for more (punishment) is Shana Meyerson. Her classes are the most challenging, intense and entertaining I've ever found, and I've looked everywhere. Don't let the cheery smile and the pigtails fool you: this woman is an ass-kicker. By the end of your first class, she'll have you in poses and arm balances and handstands you'd never even heard of. She'll demonstrate them and make them look effortless; you'll try them and fall down. A lot. But she'll make you keep trying until you master it, applaud you and then show you something harder. She's good with beginners but she's the best with intermediate to advanced yogis who are ready to test their limits. I've followed her all over LA - from public studios to a private yurt - and I'll keep following her as long as there are poses I haven't mastered (i.e. forever). I've never worked so hard or had so much fun in 90 minutes (or 2 hours - she'll teach for as long as you'll allow her to.) If there's a pose you think you can't do, Shana will prove to you that you can and she won't stop until you do. read more

Shana's 200-hour yoga teacher training program changed my life! I had been practicing yoga for 2-3 years prior, and was looking to deepen my practice and knowledge of yoga. What I got was that plus so much more. I left with a new sense of confidence and joy, connected with beautiful souls, and finally learned how to do a proper Chaturanga Dandasana!! Shana's passion and love for yoga is contagious and should you choose to take her training, I guarantee you will achieve things you never thought you could. read more

Signing up and taking Shana's Yogathletica teacher training has immensely deepen my yoga practice and has given me the confidence to stand before others to help them. She passionately focuses on each of her students in understanding proper alignment, form and spiritual awareness. (it's no joke) When I started her training.. I was taking beginner's yoga classes not really understanding the full practice or if my alignments were even correct. Her expertise and encouragment has moved me up to an advanced level. I also had crazy anxiety and resorted to biting my nails whenever I felt overwhelmed.. but during her training.. I was focused, centered and immersed in the experience.. I'd stopped biting my nails, and surprised to see it growing at the end of the training. This was a huge change for me. She made the class, fun, creative and generously brought Joe Joe's to share with the class everyday. Sharing and discussions in her class was also very helpful to me because I consider myself to be introverted and shy. She helped provide insight and support to give all her students a chance to use their voice and share their perspective/stories. Her 200 hour teacher training will leave you with golden tips that you'll probably remember for a lifetime.. in spiritual, mental and physical health. I'm a healthier person because of this investment. I didn't believe I could teach a full 1.5 hour class by the end of the training, however she made me a believer. Thank you Shana~ read more
