This year, when I planned for our return to Stowe, I was bound and determined to make it happen this time. So we were able to make it happen, and I'm so glad that we did. The owners have set up a separate viewing room, loaded with seats for viewing through a huge glass window, and no matter where one sits, they can see perfectly. One of the glassblowers comes in to call out what the working glassblower is doing each step of the way... and why. Very interesting and informative, plus totally cool to watch, even if we weren't being given the information. It was completely fascinating. Then, they have a lovely gallery of their work, and to be honest, after watching their awesome demonstration, I didn't have any issue with the prices being charged because it is REALLY DIFFICULT work, and they deserve whatever they are seeking price-wise. I bought my daughter and son-in-law a vase. I'm just sorry I didn't buy something for ourselves because we loved their work. I wasn't sure how to get it home, and for some reason, I never bothered to ask if they'd ship it. Duh. I guess that means we should go back next year and remedy the situation. Or I could just pick up the phone to call and ask them. Seems like more fun to go back to Stowe next year, given how much we love the area sooooooooo much. Anyway, make sure you avail yourselves to catching one of their glassblowing demonstrations. It is so very worth it... and make sure you buy something, too. They do such beautiful work !!!

Wherever I am, I try to stop into local yarn stores…read more Happened to be headed to Burlington Vermont and noticed this place listed on my "Great Northern Yarn Haul" map. Must Love Yarn is a big open space, with lots to look at. In the front of the store there is an excellent selection of yarns, often with knitted samples. There was also an excellent section of accessories, including pewter sweater pins that were small works of art. While browsing, I also noticed a big open space in the back with a circle of comfortable chairs for hosting knitting and fiber gatherings! The woman working the store could not have been nicer!

I am currently a senior in high school at Rice Memorial. My freshman year I was very skeptical…read moreabout attending Rice, but soon fell in love with everything about the school. I made my first friends at Rice through the football team. If you are considering sending your child to Rice, I urge them to play a fall sport, as they will get to meet people and create friends before the school year starts as the season starts before the school year does. Throughout my four years here I have developed some of my closest relationships in my life, and will truly cherish these friendships. Also one of the things that I love about Rice, is that the teachers here will go out of their way to help you, and it is very easy to build a relationship and trust with a teacher here. Rice, also does an amazing job of preparing students for college, more than 90% of seniors at Rice this year are attending college. I highly recommend any parent considering sending their child to Rice to do so.

Being part of a community of other expecting women was really wonderful and supportive! It was also a great way to relax, stretch & exercise. I always looked forward to sharing my status with the group & hearing others before we practiced yoga. Susan is the very best!! Lucky me, I also got to take advantage of Evolution's massage therapy offering a couple times with Annemarie Altadonna. Wow! Her prenatal massages are outstanding - don't hesitate to book one! Take advantage of that "pregnancy card"!! Huge thank you to Jessica & Evolution for the terrific birthing class we attended to prepare for our first baby. The labor comfort & coping techniques, hospital tour, birth beliefs and postpartum education (and so much more) was so helpful on our big day! I'd also like to give a big shout out to Sally MacFadyen and her breastfeeding class hosted at Evolution. Sally is no joke, a boob and baby whisperer! Having her come visit us postpartum was extremely helpful as well. Highly recommend taking her class & following up with her once you're home with your new baby. Looking forward to their new addition in Essex and to try out some new parent groups & postnatal yoga/strengthening classes!

There is so much power in the practice that they offer, and I am overjoyed to be a part of it in so many ways. I really felt the impact during labor, and am just so thankful. I found Susan's teaching-style to be effective, easy-to-follow, and kind. I have flown with a few CFI's over the past few months and each one is extremely professional, flexible, patient, and you always feel safe with them. Not only do they help you develop your understanding of the weather, proper aeronautical decision making, and flight planning, but they spend the time with you to answer questions thoroughly. When I was looking at options to pursue aviation I looked at various programs around New England and I couldn't be happier that I chose VFA. Their planes are great and Burlington is a beautiful place to learn to fly. Going there is one of the highlights of my week.

From lying about COVID cases contracted at school to denying employees a mandatory short break (just to name a few)... it seemed like an ugly situation from my point of view. I know how hard it can be to find childcare, and there are also certainly some positives at this small neighborhood school, but based on my perspective, I would encourage families to look elsewhere.
