I totally framed him :)
Magda C.

Oh, Frameri, you are such a little gem on Vine! This event was a lot of fun and I learnt a lot about the psychology of buying and selling eyewear, as well as the production and creating a product in general. Konrad, the inspirational owner, and his Team did a great job of showing us around and explaining how their frames are made from the idea to ready product. We got to visit not only the store, but also the offices (with 2 cute office dogs) and the production studio. About the store: they started as a pop-up holiday location and it evolved to being a future flagship store with soon-to-be renovation! The concept of Frameri is simple: interchangeable frames for one cut of lenses. You can pop the lenses up and switch the frame yourself, depending on your outfit, mood etc. Great way to accessorize! The frames are sleek and modern and come in array of colors. But they also offer many types of special lenses, including the ones for color blindness! If you do not need prescription glasses, no worries! They offer simple sunglasses too! So everybody will find something for themselves. Thank you Frameri and Yelp for showing us around, for the cheese and wine and for the cute bracelets! Cindy, this Cincy-made series is awesome! Let us support local biz!

I love attending the cincy made series with Yelp. I was super excited when i was invited to attend this awesome event. I didn't know anything about this company until i was invited to the event. As a glasses wearer this company really sparked my interest. this awesome company let's you purchase the lens and interchangeable frames. Which works awesome with your different clothing. You can express yourself in different ways. Depending on what you wear you can now mix and match your frames to go with your outfit. The owners were super cool and they helped answer any questions we had. They have us a behind the scene tour of where they come up with the concept, ideas, where they make them and ship them. It was pretty cool to see how everything worked! I had a great time and met new people and got too see people i knew already. They even gave us a discount card so we can jump start on our frame purchase. This place is located in an up and coming location and a pretty cute store!

Halie's Testamony

I had a good time last night at the Cincy Made: Frameri event. I had heard of this small, local business via instagram and at the City Flea and O.F.F. markets and definitely wanted to check it out. I jumped on the chance to attend this event. The store itself is right on Vine, in the central shopping/dining district of OTR. We learned that this was originally a holiday pop-up supported by 3CDC and due to overwhelming support they have been able to stay in the space. I think my favorite part of the event was hearing Halie's testamony and her stories about the history of the place and what they do. This sold me, I knew I wanted to become part of this brand. The product itself is unique to the brand, interchangeable lenses and frames for everyday use at an affordable price. I have worn glasses and contacts since I was 14 years old and am fully aware of the expenses endured year after year for contacts and glasses. I haven't bought new glasses since college, since I wear contacts nearly every day and would rather spend my insurance on them. I was trying on the frames and Halie helped find the best shape for my face and reassured me that you can in fact use flexspend/medical card for these. We then walked over to the office/fufillment area and discussed the history of the construction and current ordering process. It seems that they are going to start fufilling out of their lens supplier in Dallas instead of here, in Cincinnati. The reason why I'm not giving this event five starts is the flow and timing of the event. I was in the second group and we didn't have much of a direction until we left for the office around 8/8:15. Once we got over to the office space it seemed like they were relying on questions and didn't have a flow to the discussion, which made the event feel disorganized. I really enjoyed learning about Frameri and can't wait to come back and order some glasses.

Cool store decor.

I first heard about Frameri when I was working a volunteer shift at Bunbury and someone stopped by the booth I was working to offer us free sunglasses. That's pretty much the most Cincinnati sentence I could use to start a review that doesn't involve something in the chili family or the Who-Deys. When I saw this Yelp's Cincy Made event email, I wanted to know more. Despite a migraine that made me the exact opposite of fun to be around, I went to the event, and I am glad I did. Not just because they had two Pokestops outside the store, either, though that was definitely a nice bonus. I really like the idea of customizable eyewear frames. It's a pretty brilliant concept, when it comes right down to it. It's not just the idea that you can swap lenses into a different set of frames depending on an outfit, or whether it's for work or play, but it's also the idea that you can swap out lenses into the same frame, depending on whether you need sunglasses, lenses that reduce issues with staring at screens all day, or helping with fluorescent lighting issues... so many possibilities. As a longtime glasses wearer, the sunglasses solution alone makes me want to weep happy tears. The tour of the lab and the office space was incredibly educational. I apologize that I forget names, but the science guy in the lab who answered a bunch of questions, explained the science behind the concept in such a user-friendly way. His science background in the medical field sounded like the perfect fit for the company- making sure that ultimately the customer gets a superior product they can trust. That's just good business. Also good business was something this other guy whose name I forget said (this was during the tour of the room with the lens machines)- that they are looking to expand the business with doctor's offices "because it's the right thing to do." Yes! And thank you! The portion of the tour that involved trying on frames was really fun. I saw a lot of people schedule appointments with the optician, which I plan to do as well after my eye doctor's appointment next week. Timing couldn't have been better for this event, given those circumstances. I talked with the optician for awhile and learned a lot about her education process, which was kind of fascinating. Very cool, down-to-earth people, overall. Frameri is such a positive business providing a great and well-thought out product. The people who work there are a delight to be around, and the entire idea is cool as hell. Glad to have them here in Cincinnati, and I really enjoyed learning about this business. Can't wait to get my first pair of their frames, too!

This was my first event of the Cincy Made series! While I had heard of the Frameri, this was a great opportunity to learn first hand about the company and products. Konrad's story of developing Frameri as a brand from the Brandery program was pretty cool to hear. It is even better to hear how successful this local company has become in such a short time. The whole concept of custom lightweight frames made of Italian Acetate with mix and match lenses is a genius idea. The glasses become a fashion accessory and statement piece. It also helps that the product is affordable! I enjoyed being able to see the office space and lab where the glasses are created. Everyone, from Halie (the optician) to the industrial designer, provided a lot of information and knowledge about their products! All of the employees were passionate about their brand! It seems like a very cool place to work and I'm jealous of the ability to have office dogs! Overall, this was a pretty nice event! The wine and snacks were also a nice treat!!

Every time you think your last Yelp event was the best, Cindy comes up with something even better. This time we got to visit Cincy made company called Frameri which makes glasses. These are not your ordinary glasses. They are fitted to your face only and the lenses are interchangeable. They are also super durable and I know that first hand because one of the designers made us drop them on the floor to show its durability. I love the passion that every single employee at Frameri has. I felt that I needed to go to the owner at the end of the event and beg him to hire me for any job available. I have heard about the company before but enjoyed getting behind the scenes scoop. Love that this company started in Cincinnati and is growing faster than they ever dreamed of. I am going to see them today to get my first pair.

Lots of frames to choose from!
Lindsey S.

I had a great time at this event. I've been curious about Frameri for a while, so getting to hear the story of how it came to be, what they're working on, seeing all the frames and trying out removing/replacing the lenses was really neat. They've really seen a lot of growth in a short amount of time! We arrived and were able to talk to the folks running the shop, try on glasses, and get a feel for the business. We were able to see their shop, and tour their office and lab. I learned a lot about where the company is currently, where they are going, and meet a number of employees who are very dedicated to helping the business grow because it's something they believe in. You can tell they're passionate about what they do! Considering cost of glasses, they're offering a very unique product at a very reasonable price. I'll definitely be coming here when I'm ready to buy a pair of frames soon! Only small drawback to the event was being in the second group of people who went to the office and lab. It left us with a lot of time to hang out at the store, where I'd already been quite a while before they lead folks in the first half of the folks that went to the office and lab. There were only so many frames to try on while waiting. Still, really cool to get a behind the scenes look at this truly unique company that's based here in Cincinnati.

Michael C.

This has got to be the coolest start up in the city! They also had the cutest optician I think I've ever seen. I've been going to the wrong place my whole life apparently. Glad I had my glasses on for that one! But seriously, this place is so utilitarian and fashion forward. I was sold after the tour of the office space and hearing about the process, materials, quality etc. They are basically making more economical glasses using classic eyewear design. I'm looking forward to more avant-garde type frames and lenses for sure. Seems like the possibilities are endless. The owner Konrad dropped a hint he might come out with a funky sunglasses line in the future. I also found out that Wing eye are carries their line and they accept insurance. As it turns out I'm due for a new pair. For the cost, it's a worthwhile investment. If I can get two years wear out of them it would be one of the best deals I've ever had. The idea of popping my lenses in and out and mixing and matching frankly sounds cool as hell! Not so humbly submitted, King Michael C.

What a great event! I can see clearly how Frameri has become a growing sensation. We popped into this event knowing nothing about them and left with a clear vision of the companies goals. Ok enough puns haha. On a serious note this concept is a fantastic idea and I know they will be successful for a long time. Special thanks to Yelp and Cindy for putting this fun and informative event together!

Cindy does a great job with finding cool spots and making the events so exclusive. We had only 12 people at the event, which was the perfect size to learn to bake these fantastic little French treats! Cindy started everyone with a glass of champagne (I mean, how can you NOT have a good time when there is bubbly?!) and we all introduced ourselves. Then she introduced Nathan, owner of Macaron Bar and his team. From there, we learned a little history about the macaron and started the lesson. I was surprised that the class was 3 hours, but the time flew by!! Nathan was a fantastic teacher. Making the macarons was actually easier than I thought, but having an expert and 2 other team members (shout out to Shelley and Courtney!) made it fun and exciting. We made some beautiful purple mararons and had lots of fun with the caramel filling! And much to my surprise, they tasted amazing as well!! Not as good as Nathan's version, but pretty yummy for our first attempt! I absolutely LOVE this event series! Learning about and supporting local businesses is just awesome. Thank you SO much, Cindy, for the time and effort you put into these events! Can't wait for the next one!

First off, there was free champagne which is a good starting point for any event (good call with the champagne Cindy!). The class was small enough for us to each get to take part in each step of the baking process, so it was super hands on. I hate going to cooking classes where you just sit and listen to a lecture, and this macaron making class was certainly not that. We started by learning about the macarons (did you know that the flavor is all in the filling and the cookie doesn't have any additional flavor, just almond meringue?? I had no idea!). Then we made the meringue, the cookie batter, piped the cookies, and baked them. Each group of three then made a fluffy ganache filling (ours was chocolate, but the other groups made vanilla, rose, and even a salted caramel)...I'm not gonna lie, I stole a bit of the chocolate ganache off of the spatula. It was fantastic! Then, the best part...trying all the macarons! We tried all of the flavors, and we each took home a box for later. The macarons weren't quite as *pretty* as the ones at Macaron Bar (I think I need to work on my piping technique), but they still tasted pretty darn good, especially considering we were all novices! This class was free, but I would definitely pay for the macaron making class at Macaron Bar! This class was totally worth it, and I learned so much...No wonder their cookies are $2 each, it takes a ton of effort to make them! Now I can't wait to eat the ones I took home

My friend Brandy and I did not waste any time and headed to the Buffet line and got our meal. The long tables felt like we were outdoors on a picnic. Sweet!! After dinner, we were given a tour by Braxton Brewing Co. Very informative and interesting. It was short and to the point. They brew their beer at this location which is small, yet spacious. I've never been to Braxton Brewing and will definitely return. I love the décor and the long couch to chill out. Not only were the scents of their spices enticing, but the colors were as well. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to make use of it tomorrow!! Their brisket was mouthwatering and who could resist their mac n' cheese with extra fixings to top it with - think bacon and extra cheeses! After filling our tummies, we were sent home with their simple rub recipe, along with a small container of the one we had made with their ingredients. I found this to be a novel and fun idea!! I equally appreciated learning about the background, history and roots of this restaurant (I wish we could have finished watching the video!) The bartender Ryan personally developed a specialty cocktail called Frozen Assets to play on the fact that the site used to be a bank in it's previous life. It was impressive to hear how thoughtfully he concocted this wonderful libation. Because he wanted to include a dollar sign in the drink, he pureed basil and decorated the top of an ice cube with that symbol. Then he creatively used some coconut oil on top because it is a solid at room temperature before he poured more water on top to freeze so as not to mess up his design. As the ice cube melts, it subtlely changes the flavor of the drink over time, then as a finishing touch, he flambeed the liquid refreshment with Chartreuse! Next, before tasting any of the menu items, the chef came out and described this delectable array of food samples - potatoes dauphinoise, brussel sprouts, short ribs, seared scallops and duck to name a few. Delicious yet just enough to make you want to come back to eat there. Note: the chef and restaurant emphasize using local foods in their preparations which I can appreciate. The second half of the evening was led by Diana (an impassioned historian). Turns out D. Burnham was named for the nationally famous architect and when The Renaissance was built it was the tallest building in Cincinnati! The elevators right outside of the restaurant are an exquisite example of art deco even though they are no longer in operation. Besides the many suites and meeting rooms, I was blown away by the gorgeous Burnham Hall - look at some of the photos to understand what I mean. You rarely see anything like it nowadays. Glorious details and enough capacity for several hundred people whether you are planning a meeting or wedding reception! As a side note, in the bathrooms the mirrors had a grid of lights displayed in them. You could change the pattern by pushing buttons at the bottom. An unexpected, but unique design element. It was also fun for Cindy to have a Best Dressed contest. Some of the outfits were truly befitting the evening and D. Burnham's will hopefully let one of us know if we have won a free night's stay. Keeping my fingers crossed!! Thank you, thank you to The Renaissance Hotel, D. Burnham's and most of all to our tireless leader, Cindy, for arranging the entire event!
