Urbane is one of the tried and true Yelp events that never disappoints! The food is always fresh and tasty. Their bread is amazing, and the soup is perfect for those chilly nights. I went with something different this time for my wife and I. I went with the cilantro torta. Very tasty. She got the fish sandwich since it is a limited time item (also may be due to the fact that I brought home approximately zero fish the week before from a fishing trip. That is neither here nor there!) She really enjoyed her soup of the day. Bonus, I am a fan of their little spring salad with the pieces of mandarin in it to give it that sweet "oomph"! We came as soon as it opened at 10:30am. Right off the bat, we were greeted by a nice young man. I believe his name was Andrew. The courteous customer service he embodies is to be commended. He was patient with the customers explaining menu items and overall great attitude. Service with a smile! We ordered 2 salads for the Yelp event: Cilantro Chicken and the Santa Maria BBQ. Both salads were superb and served with a slice of their focaccia bread. I appreciate that the dressings are served on the side and that the greens are not over drenched with sauce like other places. The cilantro dressing was so refreshing and it was perfect as a dip for the focaccia bread. Similarly, the blackberry BBQ sauce drizzle on the BBQ salad is quite unique and tasty. The event also came with a cookie for each guest so we opted for the regular chocolate chip and the dark brown cookie (not sure what it's called) but it was delicious. I only had a bit of one as my plus 1 really enjoyed both. Had the passion fruit tea with the lemonade to wash it all down. The interior is so so nice! When I walked in it was so bright. I ordered a salmon salad, and a chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich came with a salad and I thought it was the perfect amount. The sandwich was cheesy and had a dressing that the bread soaked up with every bite. The salmon salad was amazing, I didn't think the salmon would be cold but that made it even better. Every bite has a piece, the dressing was refreshing and you could add how much or how little you wanted. The cookies were sweet and soft each bite, I loved them so much. I had not been to Urbane Cafe for a while and was THRILLED to discover on this trip that they now have gluten free focaccia bread! Options were so limited for me before. This was a whole new glorious world! So many yummy looking sandwiches that I could eat! I got the chimichurri steak sandwich on the gluten free bread and it was amazing! The steak was cut thin and extremely tender. The sandwich was moist and flavorful. I am so excited to come back and try all of those other sandwiches. Their drink options were also pretty cool with fountain drinks in flavors such as Shirley Temple and Snozzbery! They also had agua frescas and lemonade. The restaurant was so clean, even the restroom smelled good! Staff were all so helpful and friendly. I loved this event!!! I will be back soon. Always love eating at Urbane Cafe! I was very excited for a Yelp Elite event! I arrived with my plus one and we were hungry! I ordered the Cilantro Chicken Salad. This is always my favorite. I'd been here once before and didn't love the menu. I starred at it for a bit and nothing jumped out at me. I don't know what changed, but this time I was having a difficult time choosing between 4 different items. I finally decided to try the Baja bowl and it was a great decision! I ended up saving it for lunch the following day and it was still super fresh and had a crunch to it. I'm not a huge fan of kale but this kale was delicious. The hubby got the Santa Maria bbq chicken salad and was very impressed! I also loved the soda selection. I never get soda when I go out to eat, usually choosing to go with water due to not being a fan of soda in general. So color me surprised when I spotted Agua frescas available. They also have Batch Craft Sodas which have real cane sugar available. The restaurant itself is decorated trendy with fake plants draped around for a cute effect. It's open and airy and very clean as well. It seems they also have catering available which is awesome! "I'll admit, I was skeptical about all the five-star reviews for Urbane Cafe, but after finally trying it for the first time, I completely understand the hype. I had the turkey cranberry Brie sandwich, and my kid had the Fish sandwich and both were very good. Honestly, it was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time, easily comparable to my favorite spots back in Bakersfield. The sandwiches were the highlight, but then I discovered the craft soda and the cookies. I waited until I got home about 2 hours later to eat the cookie, when I tell you warming up the cookie was a game-changer. My plus 1 & I really enjoyed using this YES event as our date night to Urbane Cafe. We often go for lunch on Sundays after church, and he frequents for lunch because he works nearby, SO we decided to go for a Saturday night dinner for a new experience. We were greeted right away by Alana and taken care of when we told her we were there for the YES event. I love the swag phone attachment. Very cute and handy! I thought I knew what I would be ordering but I was thrown off because they have a new fish sandwich. I will always order a fish sandwich if it's available, so I did. My plus 1 ordered the Ahi salad. Another excellent choice. We each got a drink (iced tea & Diet Coke) and we also got a chocolate chip cookie and the cranberry chip cookie. I wanted to get 2 different flavors because we almost always just get the chocolate chip. The CC cookie was perfect and baked just right. I enjoyed the flavor of the cranberry cookie but it was a tad underbaked. You'll see that in the picture. The fish sandwich was not just a fish salad mixture but large pieces of seasoned grilled fish and it was delicious. It had a nice amount of salad with it and the flavors together were tasty and tangy. My plus 1 loved how salad. It is his typical go to choice. I was not able to finish my meal. It is always a lot of food for me. Our whole family loves the bread and it is always nice to get a piece with your salad. You never miss out on their delicious, fresh baked bread. It comes with everything you order, either as the sandwich bread or a piece with your salad. The restaurant was clean and is really well situated, with plenty of seating inside and out. The layout is really inviting and the privacy panels allow you to feel separated even though you are close to the next booth. Again, I really think the restaurant is well laid out. It is easy to order right as you arrive, and I appreciate that the staff brings your food to the table. Self serve drinks work well and there are plenty of choices, even some unique flavors. I always appreciate there is fresh brewed ice tea. It is always spot on. The restaurant was busy but the staff responded and everyone seemed to be taken care of in good time. We think a lot of Urbane Cafe and are happy to have this event for ourselves and others to experience a great food place that serves fresh, delicious food. The service was good, the young man who checked me in let me know the Doc Batch was a sophisticated Dr. Pepper, he wasn't lying really good flavor. I was asked for here or to go and I said dine in, then my name was called and my food was bagged to go. As far as the agua frescas I believe Dragon Fruit takes the W. My guest ordered the fish which she said was good, she only had half and gave my son the other piece. As for my sandwich I always order from location on Mt. What a great Yelp experience! We were greeted by Zach who provided us with the details of the meal options. The restaurant is small but was not busy at the time. There was ample seating available. I ordered the Ahi salad and my husband ordered the tofu Bahn mi sandwich. We had the choice of a cookie or chips and a fountain drink. The service was very quick. I thoroughly enjoyed my salad and I appreciated that my salad was cold and crisp. It was served with a very tasty side of Japanese chili dressing and focaccia bread. My husband's Bahn mi sandwich had a nice balance of flavors. The pickled vegetables gave it a nice crunch and the aioli dressing was flavorful but not overpowering. This was a great Yelp Elite experience! I ordered the pesto & sun-dried tomato sandwich and chocolate chip cookie. I also tried the dragon fruit agua fresca to go along with it. I ordered my meal togo, but I wish I could've been able to dine in. The restaurant was clean and spacious despite that it looks small from the outside. The sandwich was delicious! I really like that they use focaccia bread. I also enjoyed the side salad. It was a good pair for the sandwich. The chocolate chip cookie had gooey chocolate chips but a crunchy outside. First, we arrived and were greeted promptly. The interior was spacious and clean. I love their booths and very thankful to the high dividers (from a mom with a nosy constantly moving toddler). Highlights: The bread was absolutely delicious and loved that even with a saucy sandwich it still held up and never got soggy! The salad was perfection! It was my husband and I's first time coming to this urban cafe location and I must say, the layout was spacious and beautiful! We were greeted immediately and after placing our orders, we made our way to the drink station. We settled on the strawberry and dragonfruit agua frescas, super good!I love the variety of drink choices. The restaurant was busy as we came around the lunch hour rush, but even then, we were able to find a table for two. Our food was brought out in a flash, and everything was great except for one of the focaccia bread with the soups - it was hard compared to the rest of the breads. That was a little disappointing. Urbane Cafe is so good to us Yelpers!! I was first introduced to Urbane Cafe when they hosted a Yelp Event at their Mount Vernon Avenue location back in the day. After that first event, I've been a fan of theirs ever since. Happy that they had this Yelp Elite Experience at their California Avenue branch, and even happier that I was one of the lucky Yelpers to get invited!! Wifey and I both decided to try items from their menu that we've never tried before. She got their Fish Sandwich and I had their Pastrami Tri-Tip sandwich. Both sandwiches came with a delicious tasting side salad. Each sandwich was yummy, but we both preferred the Pastrami sandwich over the Fish sandwich. Their drink selection and their cookies are second to none! Urbane Cafe included a cookie and drink for each of us as part of this YEE. Am absolutely a fan of their crafted sodas!! My kiddos and I absolutely LOVE Urbane Cafe so when this event popped up, I signed up and prayed to the Yelp Gods and Goddesses to let me in! We went and bought a bunch of extra food for the kiddos too. Plus cookies because, duh! They're warm and scrumptious and always a good idea! We used to drive all the way to the other side of town for a delicious sandwich or salad. The fresh-baked focaccia bread is my FAVE!! I don't think it's true in any sense of the word but I trick myself to thinking it's healthy for me lol. The kids love the cheese pizza and my big kiddo likes the Ben with Bacon. Delish! It's been a minute since I've been here. I forget how good their sandwiches are. I went with the So Cal chicken sandwich and swapped the balsamic dressing for the chipotle ranch. Everything was fresh and delicious. I love the focaccia bread and the fresh salad was great. The swap on dressing went well with my sandwich. The dragonfruit agua fresca and strawberry yuzu agua fresca was amazing. I love options to drink that are not soda but they did have craft soda available at the fountain. I've passed by this place many times but never went inside. I'm glad that McKenzie put this event together because this cafe is a pleasant surprise. The staff was so nice and helpful and the food was delicious. My husband got the southwest chicken sandwich and it was yummy. I would get that when I come back. I got the ahi tuna salad and wasn't a fan. It might be me but it felt fishy so I brought it up and they happily replaced it with a BBQ sandwich. That sandwich was great. The tri-tip was perfectly cooked and cut so thin, it fell apart in your mouth. The sauce had a nice tang and a bit of heat. We also got the red velvet and chocolate cookies and it was a happy surprise to find they were warm and crunchy on the edges. Perfect end to the meal. Needless to say, we will be back. read more

Decided to go get dinner before playing Pokemon Go as a group. I Love going to Urbane Cafe. Some of the sweetest staff workers I have ever had the pleasure of communicating with. They were so sweet and patient. My guest was having a tough time picking off the menu and they get such great suggestions. You can tell that the work staff knows their food and enjoys the product! Ordered the fish sandwich and my friend got a beef sandwich. I did like my sandwich quite a bit and it paired well with the sweet and acidic salad they provide. They have some of the best chocolate chip cookies, especially for a business. I'm very particular about my baked goods and they nailed them! I also love their drink selection. I have always been a fan of Urbane Cafe since the first Yelp Elite Event I had with them. I have always enjoyed their sandwiches and would always get the Bella Portobello and it was always a pleasurable experience. This time, I decided to be more adventurous and try their bowls. I had the Seared Ahi Tuna Bowl and like before, I was very happy with it. It was packed, the sauce was a very nice addition, and highly filling. Of course, their cookies were probably one of the best ones I had in town, always tastes like grandma's cookies made from her heirloom recipes. They also have a wide selection of drinks which was quite different from the usual Coke products. Of course, service has always been the same. We came to the restaurant during their last hour of business on a Sunday but we weren't made to feel like we were a bother. The staff were extremely friendly and quick to make our order. The food was quite tasty and we all tried something a little different than what we were used to. The presentation was appealing and the flavor was great. HOMERUN! It was my first time visiting Urbane Cafe, and I was knocked out by the amount of flavor everything had. I opted for the Steak and chimichurri sandwich and my wife decided to try the chicken and sun-dried tomato on pesto sandwich. Both were soo full of flavor that we completely cleaned our plates. You can definitely tell that they do not cut any corners and only use the best and freshest ingredients. We brought our 2 year old who loves soup so we purchased him Baja enchilada soup and he loved it. Service was spot on, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Big news on the gluten free front as they now offer gluten free bread which is huge for people with allergies, Celiac or just looking for something a little healthier. We both chose the ahi tuna bowl, one red velvet cookie and one chocolate/chocolate chip and 2 sodas. I was super pleased to see an awesome selection of fountain craft sodas!
