I loved my salmon wrap! Such a great deal with it being $15 only and the wrap is huge. I could easily split this dish into two meals. Sofra grill also gave me a copy of their menu and they have plenty of yummy dishes. I'm interested in their flatbreads for next time.

Sat 2/15/25 tried out Sofra Grill in SSF. I don't like driving far so I took Bart to San Bruno Bart Station and walked 20min, 1 mile. Once I got inside I told lady I was here for Yelp event, was asked dine-in or takeout? I said dine-in. I picked salmon wrap. Waited a short time while they made the food. Small shop with good amount of seating, also saw 1 table for outdoor dining My salmon wrap was really good! Lightly crispy outside, lots of salmon inside, pickled veggies on the side. Toom sauce is great! I asked for the Yelp bag after, they ran out. Got Yelp utensil instead. One unisex bathroom in the back. I would go back if I'm in SSF! Thanks Yelp, Paolo B., & Sofra Grill.

Came to the red badge celebration here and it was so much fun, I came here for a previous yelp event before they opened and the food was delicious then, so I knew it was going to be just as good. So since I came here before I know were to park. There was a Yelp person outside the event and that was helpful since we were not going to the restaurant part. I got signed in and then picked a table. I met with some of my yelp friends and met some new ones. Paolo was there to immediately welcome us and tell us what to do like get appetizers and drinks. the swag was nice (it always is). When the food came out Paolo told us to get in line but not to rush because they were making new rounds and so nothing would run out. The food was delicious and we even got to bring some home. I brought some for my mom and she LOVED IT. she asked if we could go soon to eat there. We met with the owner and he was so humble and nice. During the whole event they had music playing and it was great. It was a nice celebration for the Young yelpers. im glad we came to this location, great food and great friends.

Finally had a chance to try Sofra Grill! Thank you yelp for this experience. I ordered the falafel wrap to go. It was ready within 15 mins and came with a nice yelp utensil travel set. The falafel wrap was fresh and toasted to perfection. The falafel could have been more flavorful as I thought it was a little on the bland side. The garlic and hot sauce helped to spicen it up. I was eyeing the baklava but decided to try them next time. I will come back to give Sofra Grill another try to taste the other menu items.

If you want something different and fun - the lamb shank dish! it came wheeled on a cart to my table because it was so heavy. Then the server cuts up the breading which looks like a pie topped with sesame seeds, and what's inside? Once it's opened up it's the lamb shank and rice, onions, lemon, tomato. I was not expecting that delightful service I also tried the steak wrap, it was ok for me. Personally I like it more saucy so I wish there was more sauce to go with the meat and everything inside, would give it more flavor Had to wait a long time for the kunafa dessert. I checked in with the server again after a while and she asked if I already ordered it through her earlier, which I confirmed yes I mentioned it at the beginning of the meal. This is made with layers of thin, shredded pastry dough soaked in syrup. SO GOOD! if you have room for dessert

We have been looking for Mazra alternative for sometimes. So, Soffra was a timely outing for us. In the times when eating out has becoming soooo expensive. Soffra was a great find. I had a better falafel wraps in the past. But, mine was satisfying. The falafels were tasty and perfectly cooked. There's something missing, but I could not put my fingers on. Hubby ordered lamb. It came inside a dough blanket that turn to a tasty treat. Hard to explain! But, please look at picture. I dont eat lamb, so, I cannot personally attest to the taste. But, Hubby devoured the meat and raved how succulent and tasty it was. He wants to try the lamb chops next time! Here's the star of the day: Baklava Walnuts. Please make a note that we are not baklava folks. Usually they are sickly sweet and sticky. Soffra's was sticky too. But, they heated the yummy morsels and for some reasons it elevated the pastries. I think it's not as sweet as others. I wish they serve not Peet' coffee (LOL). I'm team Peet's, but today I did not order because it's Peet's. Because, in my head Peet's would not go with Baklava. But, regular coffee would (ha). Would we return? Absolutely! Had already referred Soffra to friends. Next stop.... mixed grilled meat and shrimps.

Another great community experience Paolo! Called in my order and stopped in about 15 minutes later. Made sure to come a little earlier in the day since parking can be a little tricky. Got lucky with a front spot! The employees were super nice and quick to prepare the order. Also noticed that despite it being early, the restaurant was moderately full. Couldn't help but look at all the different dishes being served and they all looked delicious! Even though I didn't eat my wrap right away, it was still delicious an hour later. Generous portions and super flavorful. The garlic spread perfectly complimented the wrap. Thanks again for the great experience Paolo!

I completely forgot I've been to Sofra grill once before! We thought it was a great spot then and this yelp elite event proved to me again what a gem this place is.  I got the Kofte wrap and that first bite HIT! The spiced beef married so well with the sauce and pickled veggies inside. Recommend to eat it sooner rather than later as the bread starts to get soggy. They also gave me some mini tubs of their garlic white sauce which kick the Kofte wrap up another notch. The garlic sauce is pure magic. We were greeted by a female employee who happily showed us what was available through the promotion as well as explained some of the desserts available in the see through case at the counter. I heard the words tangerine and pomegranate and was very intrigued and was also loving the amount of pistachios used in a lot of the desserts.  I have to save the baklava for another day as I already knew I wanted a kunafa to take home. This one is also better if you dine in as they will add ice cream on top! Also a killer combo.  Thank you Paolo and Yelp for organizing a great event for us. Sofra grill is a top notch spot! Loved every bite!

Adana kebab wrap

Love it when Paolo and Yelp help me find these great places I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. I got the Adana kebab wrap to go and an order of babaganoush. The cashier was super friendly and food was out in less than 10 minutes. It's a casual place with tables inside and looked like a great place to hang out with friends and family. Everything was so fresh and tasty.

Huge portion!

Thanks sofa grill and Paolo for hosting this event! We called in before going to the restaurant to avoid the wait. The restaurant was crowded when we arrived on Friday evening, great for them! The parking is hard since it's a mix of residential and commercial area but we found a parking about 2 blocks away, short walk! I had the beef wrap, the portion is huge!! The wrap is so crispy and the meat is flavorful. I like the hot sauce and garlic sauce quite a lot too!

Thank you Sofra Grill, Yelp, and Paulo for this great experience! What a way to start the day. We came hungry and left well fed and happy. The food the amazing and the service exceptional. We got the beef/lamb and salmon wrap with a lentil soup and we were stuffed. I love how the wraps were grilled to a perfect crisp! The place is clean and cozy with dark brown tones. The high ceiling makes it look spacious and inviting. I'm totally coming back to try all the other items and desserts!

Chicken shawarma wrap with extra pickles

Sofra Grill has the best wraps! I love the pickles and the chicken (flavorful and juicy!) in my chicken shawarma wrap. The portions are generous and pricing reasonable. The hubby got a baba-ganoush dip (that came with 2 pita) and a lentil soup. Everything was delish! Pro-tip: ask for the garlic sauce and hot sauce to enjoy with your dishes. Service was friendly and quick. On this Saturday night around 8:20 pm, we found parking easily in the front of the restaurant, and we ordered and finished eating in less than 30 mins. Thanks to Paolo and the folks at Sofra Grill for a great event. Love that we are able to come with our friends and family.

Thanks to Sofra Grill, Yelp, and Paolo for a wonderful event where I had the flexibility to come and experience them either lunch or dinner. I liked the tip to call in first as that's what I did. There was slight problem with them hearing my order due to the loudness of the background but managed to get it in. The kafte wrap had a wonderful mix of veggies, ground meat, and the white sauce. I love the crunch of the wrap with the mix of everything inside. It was tasty and still warm when I got home. Quick service and tasty options. I paid for a chicken shwatma plate and that was also tasty with good flavor.

As I got near, I saw about 5 food trucks along the street and long lines in front of each truck! First thing to do was check in at the Info Booth! I waited for a short while since first the lady said I should wait for the lady beside her to help me. After waiting for 2 people, the same lady I first approached ended up changing her mind and felt like helping me...sheesh. Highlighting my name & my +1 brother, I was then given my 2 red bracelets. It signified my VIP access to the Yelp VIP area. I was told that there are blankets strewn in front of the movie screen area and that's where I would be able to sit. On a side note, there was no Yelp schwag at this Yelp Community Event. It was more of a casual night to just watch movies with other family and friends. Next, my brother and I walked around the Night Design Market area. The first tent on the left was where we picked up our free water. They ran out of other beverages. I just quickly browsed to see what vendors were selling: items or food. I did see cotton candy! After that we walked around the check out the menus of all the food trucks. I ended up deciding the LittleGreenCyclo food truck which sold a small selection of Vietnamese food. While my brother & I were waiting at the very end of the line, I told him I'll go find the blanket area. I asked the friendly staff if this was the VIP area. Successfully locating it, I choose an available blanket about the 8th in front of the movie screen. I dropped off my bag and coat there. Oh my, there were so many fruit flies or small flying bugs on the blanket! I met a nice couple with cute long-haired chihuahuas behind my blanket spot. *Side Note* Before the day of this movie night, I received contact from some Yelpers saying they would be excited to meet me. It was definitely exciting to meet more Yelper friends. Surprised they even noticed me! Glad I found a blanket before it got more filled up, I walked back to join my brother in the long wait in line! I was glad I had internet data still working in that park. I noticed a Yelper Stan checked in. I was scanning around and thought I spotted him just standing in the left side food truck line. I kept staring, LOL, and knew he didn't see me. So, after I received his comment notifying me he was located at which food truck line and wearing what, I approached Stan, introduced myself, and as I was showing him his profile picture asked him if that was him. It was a fun, brief, first encounter. Yay! I found 1 Yelper for the night. I commented on my thread for Linda to find me! Still waiting in line, I became restless and wanted to check up on my belongings. I walked and went back to the food truck line. Later, nearing the middle of the line, it started to rain lightly! So, I wanted to go get my jacket. At that time Linda commented she was waiting at the blanket. We were commenting live time in my check in, so I immediately went back to my blanket to get my jacket and see if I could spot Linda! I was looking around to see if anybody was wearing a moto jacket and even asked the lady behind my blanket to see if she saw any girl matching the outfit description Linda told me. LOL. Next thing you know, I saw a girl walking in front of me, tapping on her phone. Realized later she commented walking over to the food truck. haha. Anyways, I quickly said Linda, Are you Linda?? :-D LOL. And YAY! I was right! She finally looked up from her phone and said Yes. and I told her I'm Andrea. Think we hugged and I was excited to tell her about meeting another Yelper Stan too. So, we walked to go greet Stan. Linda later told me she had another Yelper friend telling her she would be there at movies too! Back to the line, I was sooo hungry! Finally reaching LittleGreenCyclo, tried to order fresh pineapple lychee lemonade and lemongrass grilled pork, but they ran out! I ended up choosing Lemongrass Chicken with Noodles (Mary's Free Range Air Chilled Nine Spice Grilled Chicken with Fresh Rice Vermicelli). Delicious. My brother got the Sweet Potato Tater Tots. All were yummy! After that, we walked to our blanket. I saw Stan still waiting in line for food sadly! It was getting dark by then...My brother and I shared our food. I told Stan since he wasn't VIP, we can share our blanket with him later during movie time. My brother and I finished our food and went to throw away our garbage. He went to go buy bacon caramel popcorn and Sugar Spun cotton candy too. Shortly after, Ferris Bueller's Day Off movie started. By that time, it was completely dark, after receiving a late message, I spotted Stan sitting on the grass and invited him to join our blanket. He was nice to share his Rib Whip ribs with my brother and I, also his antibacterial. Wow, delicious rib! I was still hungry during the funny, classic movie. Luckily, I brought my chocolate chip cookies! Happy that movie night!

For those who have never been or heard of Eat Real, it is a free event that is a combo of a state fair, food festival, and block party to celebrate good eats, along with bringing awareness to where our food comes from, who grows it, how it is grown, and how to cook it. There were over 50 vendors, and 30 craft beers, wines, cocktails, and nonalcoholic beverages to try! There was also live music and cooking demons, family-friendly activities, and other ticketed culinary experiences. The fiancé and I were able to find street parking nearby, but parking in general around this area is fairly difficult. There were also a lot of people at the event, so unfortunately trying to find a place to sit and eat was challenging. Additionally, lines for some of the food trucks were extremely long. This limited the foods we wanted to try out. Despite all that, the fiancé and I enjoyed the festival as first timers. It was a nice to check out the different vendors and learn about their mission. However, I would take a pass next year.

So that's a bummer starting out, then when we did decide to go ahead and pay to get into the food area, we finally saw that there were 4-5 vendors (if you count the one beer tent as a vendor) and every single one had a line of 15-40 people. Not kidding. The one inside had a solid 2 walls of people. That seems crazy to me. Even Taco Innovation wasn't that bad. I do also want to mention a couple logistical things I wasn't a fan of. One we were given 'over 21' wristbands and no one actually checked our ID and two, because of some county or permit issue you had to buy tokens for the food. Which I tend to hate in general. On top of everything else, the blasting Hungarian death metal-esque music was cringe worthy and parking was of course no fun (it never is at this location) so beyond the friendly ladies at the front, the fun polish stuff for kids in the very back, and a few wonderful headpieces this event was a total bust. But if you got there early enough and they jettisoned the awful music I could have seen enjoying it. So two stars.

In the past few months, I've seen various pieces of art popping up along the waterfront starting from the baseball stadium (Oracle Park) going north towards Fisherman's Wharf. In recent months, the City has installed large art pieces along the walkways, obviously camera friendly for passerby tourists and locals alike. Downtown Oakland has seen better times…read more I have lived in Alameda for over 50 years. To go anywhere, I have to pass thru downtown Oakland. In my college days, I had to use BART and AC buses to get to school. I spent alot of time in downtown Oakland around 12th St and 19th St BART stations. I used to shop at Sears and Capwells. I would walk for miles. The downtown was busy and alive. Those days are gone. Today's downtown Oakland is dirty and dangerous. When you walk the streets, you're on your own. Last year, I paid to park in a secure garage so i could attend a Yelp Event in downtown Oakland. Why? Because I worried about my windows getting smashed if I parked on the street. I have experience. About 10-15 yrs ago, I was robbed at gunpoint at night. I guess I was lucky he didn't want my old car too. Yeah, who wants a 1996 Honda Civic? It took the police 2-1/2 hours to show up. I had PTSD from the experience. I'm ex-military, but I'll never forget seeing that gun in my face and his eyes. Today, if I go to Oakland Chinatown, just pretend it's the wild west. Watch your surroundings and be careful. Maybe bring a friend. Who's fault is it? I don't know anymore I think Oakland Police need more cops, maybe over 1000.

A perpetual up and comer that underachieves. Some nice music venues. Also, some delicious eats. The…read moreethnic eats are particularly well represented. No doubt it's a filthy area that's currently on the decline. Here's hoping it makes a turn in the near future toward its potential.
