Today's flight was beautiful. Angel is an excellent pilot and we appreciated his skill and knowledge of the area.

Very knowledgeable and a great sense of humor. Enjoyed the entire day. a bit pricey but definitely worth it. Previously I had visited the park in my private car...struggled with where to go and parking. Ken knew all the spots to go and riding in the tour bus allowed us to pull right up front, disembark, and easily catch the bus once ready to leave. Ken definitely made it a great day.

Highly recommend doing a tour with Yellowstone Vacation Tours! We have a second one booked in a few days for the Upper Loop. Our Tour Guide was Gypsy. Excellent and very safe driver! Wealth of knowledge and he shared so much! He took us to many of his favorite spots along with the usuals the most go to. We hit Old Faithful at the perfect time, short wait and one of the tallest eruptions, 170 ft! Just wow! So many great photo op stops. Some wild life including Bison. We saw falls and cascades. Learned so much history of the park including the background behind a lot of the names. Definitely recommend doing a tour vs Self-tour! Thank you Gypsy!

This guy was able to talk all day, and even the kids who initially had a moderate disinterest in the whole tour were mesmerized by his stories by the end of the tour. I would advise other to be ready for changing weather, there were some peeps on the tour who barely wanted to get out of the van because they were underdressed for wind and cold. This is Montana folks! Fun group as well as everyone began looking out for sign of wild life. Thanks Clark!

I toured Yellowstone National Park on three separate days (12/17-12/19/2018) in snowcoaches…read moreprovided by Alpen Guides. Since the cost of the tours was included in a vacation package provided by a travel company, I'm not sure about Alpen Guides' specific prices. This review is based on how much I appreciated the tour itself. I went on two tours to Old Faithful & one to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. The Grand Canyon tour included a box lunch. The Old Faithful tour didn't include a meal but you could purchase something to eat at the Old Faithful visitor's center restaurant if you wanted to. I was so excited about riding the snowcoaches! In Yellowstone, snowcoaches are a normal mode of transportation during the winter but I'd never ridden one or even seen one in person before. In lieu of regular tires, the back portion of a snowcoach has tracks like a tank & the front part has something that resembles skis so it can plow through the snow. The reason why I was so anxious to ride one is because the kid in me remembered the old "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" animation special where the narrator rode one. For each tour, I was picked up just before 8:30 am near the front of the motel where I was staying. We normally returned back from the tour around 4:30 pm. The tour groups are usually small (the ones I went on ranged from 4 to 8 tourists with either one or a couple of driver/tour guides). On the three days I went, I rode with customers from Ohio, Alabama, Maryland, Canada, Utah, and the Phillipines (among other places). We were told not to throw gum or candy wrappers on the ground inside the park because they want to keep Yellowstone as natural as possible. During the winter season when there's lots of snow, they only allow snowcoaches & snowmobiles in Yellowstone. Snowcoaches have a speed limit of 25 mph while snowmobiles have a speed limit of 35 mph. Because snowmobiles are allowed to go faster, snowcoach drivers are supposed to pull over to the side and let them pass. Snowmobile drivers usually travel in groups & from my observation behaved like groups of people in a motorcycle club; like they owned the road even though most of them were riding snowmobiles for the first time. The crowds in Yellowstone are small & spread out in December so even with the snowmobilers we felt like we almost had the park to ourselves. The worst thing about the snowmobilers is when we're quietly taking pictures of wildlife & then they drive up en masse & unintentionally scare the animals off. Our drivers/tour guides were excellent at their job. They had eyes like hawks, pointing out such sights as bald eagles nesting in the trees that most of us would've missed. They knew everything about the various types of trees and wildlife. My favorite part was other than seeing the wildlife was listening to the guides tell stories about their experiences in Yellowstone. One tour guide told us about when he was by himself in the park & a grizzly began approaching him. He had to use bear spray to temporarily slow it down so he could get in his vehicle & drive away. Another guide told us about how bald eagles mate for life & how they sometimes test the worthiness of a mate during courtship by doing a death spiral. A death spiral is when they lock talons high in the air, tumble towards the earth & then let go just before hitting the ground. That's how they decide whether their mate is a ride or die. If you're trying to decide which tour to choose, I'd recommend that you go on both. The Old Faithful tour has the best opportunity for souvenirs due to the two gift shops near the geyser. Also, there's a restaurant beside one of the souvenir shops. The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone tour is popular too because tourists love taking selfies with the canyon waterfall in the distant background. The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone tour includes a boxed lunch that consists of a cold sandwich (roast beef, turkey, etc.), small bag of chips & Oreo cookies. We ate the boxed lunch inside the Canyon Visitor Education Center (where you can see animal skulls & pelts). You'll see wildlife on both tours but I saw more bison on the Old Faithful tour. Every time you venture into Yellowstone it's likely you'll notice something you didn't see the day before. I enjoyed riding the snowcoaches but my favorite was the maroon bombardier that has been running since the 1950s that's nicknamed Chip. It also had a roof that the driver sometimes opened when Chip was parked. You could stand up, stick your head out & take pictures. The other snowcoaches were nice too, although they looked more modern. All of them were toasty inside but during the winter you should wear warm clothing because you will get out of the ride & walk some. The weather fluctuated from single digits to the twenties later in the afternoon. Alpen Guides is as good as it gets when it comes to sightseeing tours. Five stars!

We showed up at 8 this morning. We opted to rent the snow suits, boots, and gloves. They make a big difference in your comfort level. The attire was well maintained and they had several people there to help get us our equipment. Our guide was Lindsey and we sure hit the jackpot with her. Our family rented two sleds. There was supposed to be another group joining us but they got their dates mixed up and it ended up just being our family and one other couple. We were off on our adventure just after 8:30. You drive the snowmobiles straight out of the property to the west entrance of Yellowstone. You are charged for each snowmobile that you take into the park unless you have an annual park pass. This is a park charge but the company facilitates it for you. We had a very full day of going to see so many amazing sights. There were many times we stopped to watch the bison. Lindsey was constantly on the lookout to show us things. During the course of our day we stopped and enjoyed watching bison, coyotes, trumpet swans, and even bald eagles. Lindsey didn't just show us these animals, she was a wealth of information about the animals themselves. We also made numerous stops to see geysers and mud pots and different geological wonders. Once again, Lindsey served as an amazing guide as she educated us about these places. We not only got to see the sights, we got to learn about them. We ended up at Old Faithful close to lunch time. There we were shown a yurt that we could eat our lunch in. It had a bunch of tables in it with chairs. There was also a big pot belly stove that made the place nice and warm. The tables were spread apart so you could maintain your distance from others. We opted to bring our lunch. There was also a snack bar on site where you could purchase something. Not sure what they had since we didn't go in. As we were finishing our lunch, Lindsey came in and swept the place and cleaned all the tables. She said the park lets them use the facility and she wants to do her part to show their appreciation. At one point Lindsey stopped us because she saw a bison in the road ahead. She had briefed us earlier in the day in case this happened, but she stopped us and went over exactly what we should do and made sure we were all comfortable. It was a really cool experience to share the road for a few moments with the majestic bison. We got to see him very up close while being respectful to the animal. After we left Old Faithful we got to go see a beautiful waterfall and then more wildlife before leaving the park. We got back to the business location around 4:30. Definitely a full day and a lot of bang for your buck. If being on a snowmobile all day isn't your idea of fun, they also had these vans on massive tires that did tours in the park. You stay cozy and warm and still get to see Yellowstone in winter, with all the snow. It is a sight to behold. I could not recommend doing this more highly. You will be so glad you did. And our experience with Backcountry was phenomenal. Don't forget to tip your guide. Most of these guides are here because they are passionate about what they do and tipping them is a great way to show appreciation for the value they added to your day.

We were so happy one of the other tour companies were unable to accommodate our request to pick us up at our hotel, which was the oldest hotel in Yellowstone, the Lake Yellowstone Hotel. We requested a tour for just my husband and myself for a two day tour focusing on both the Wildlife and Geothermal sites. Our tour guides were Jack, for the wildlife, and Issac, for the geothermal or upper and lower loops. Both guides were extremely prompt with an extremely clean car and all the equipment necessary to view and photograph each site. The information both these young men provided was delivered in a very detailed and genuinely enthusiastic presentation. Their love and passion for the wildlife and the geothermal landscape was contagious! They were able to help us understand the science as well as the background of all that Yellowstone National Park has to offer. Anything we might not have caught on our equipment they were able to utilized their specialized cameras and equipment to not only spot the wildlife but to send us the memories captured. Both guides have inside knowledge of where the wildlife might be at any given time of the day or where to best park to avoid crowds and reduce waiting in long lines or walking more than necessary to enable us to see more in our allotted time frame. Truly a fabulously beautiful area of the United States with a wealth of educational information provided by our tour guides. We would not hesitate to book Casanova Guided Tours and request both Jack and Isaac again and again.
