My animals love Dr. Brent. He has always been more interested in the animals and his prices are reasonable.

However....on July 7th at 10:15am, whichever front desk assistant was working, needs customer service training right away!! We called because after our pups 3 year annual check up on April 30th m, we told the doctor that the Trio tablets he was taking was difficult for him and would always spit it out. This is the heart worm, flea and ticker pill. We asked to change to the NEX/Heartgard chewables because he liked those. No problem. They put in order for us to pick up at Costco after is May pill to start in June. This is where everything after went downhill. Called the VCA end of May for the order. Asked about Heartgard Plus and they said it wouldn't be a problem and we'd pick it up from Costco. Went to Costco to pick up the medication and almost couldn't get it because our pups name was spelled wrong. Then they had some other address on Silverdale Way (where we never lived before in our lives) but thankfully our phone number and my name was right. The order was just the NEXgard. Ok..... So I called the VCA and asked if we could still the place a prescription order for the Heartgard Plus or just the Heartgard because Costco only gave us the NEXgard. The lady states "we don't carry Nexgard or Heartgard". I said that I know and that's why we had the prescription ordered to Costco. She then states "How about we start with your name" which I did state who I was in the beginning but...got it. Then she proceeds to tell me that our pup "would need to be tested for heart worms before on a medication otherwise he'd die". That's where I was turned off quickly. He JUST had his annual check up, why didn't they do it then? I told her that I saw his screening need to be done in March and we were told that was part of it. Nope! Called the other VCA on Bucklin Hill and they asked the same questions I did. In short, we went to VCA for our pup at Bucklin Hill for an emergency and the staff was wonderful, unlike the one here on Bryon St. There's literally no parking here. Office is small. Doctors are short with you as well to get you in and out. Definitely just business here and not community friendly.

It's expensive but I can't say it's more expensive than any other vet clinic. Pet care is just expensive, in general. I have an aggressive dog and they've always been really accommodating of her, even making note of her temperament and putting us in a room that doesn't require her to walk through the lobby, potentially seeing other dogs. I always appreciate how they handle her.

I got no response to the video from the Doctor, even though she asked me to send it. My experience at Bayview has not been a good one so far. I honestly don't feel comfortable proceeding with care there. Additionally, I am confused as to why they brought us out into noisy stressful lobby to go over results of exam when cat was already throwing up from intense anxiety. That doesn't seem like very compassionate and conscious care. :( I've lived in a variety of places across the country (CA, CO, NY, FL) and in every appointment over the past ten years I was able to have a quiet space to speak with Doctor. I felt like I was being hurried out, and given the circumstances at our visit that seems so inconsiderate. The Doctor didn't even come out to see us after exam in the back, so we didn't even get to properly meet her, let alone meet with her. It was a very stressful and strange experience. The exam was abbreviated and we basically just got the shot and left. This was a distressing situation. I did not receive compassion or care or professionalism from the front desk workers. I didn't receive a response to my first email, and then the second one got an abbreviated response with attitude. I gave them 2 stars instead of 1, because the manager was polite and professional when she called me, though her final email wasn't ideal. And, because they ultimately refunded me for the exam experience I never got, and the trauma caused to my pet. I also thought the nurse was good overall, though he was too quick and rushed in his communication and listening skills. The whole experience was so rushed and chaotic and scary for me and my cat. :(

We were able to schedule this by telephone, but not online. My animal was seen as soon as they were finished with a different emergent situation. They were not able to complete the recommended treatment plan same-day as their office was closing soon, but we were able to bring our animal back in the next morning for the doctor to complete the recommended treatment plan. We did go home with medicine that night, though - pain medication and antibiotics. When deciding between the treatment options, the staff brought out a few pages with options and clear pricing estimates. This allowed for us to not only make a sound choice for treatment as the owners, but also fully understand the estimated costs that would be coming. We really liked this especially as owners without animal insurance. Overall it was a great experience. We would recommend Ridgetop to any owner whose animal needs urgent, same-day medical attention - just call, do not go off of their website!

Cedar Creek Animal Clinic is owned by Thrive Pet Care, which in turn is owned by a private equity firm, TSG Consumer Partners. TSG/Thrive bought up our local independent veterinarian in Tacoma, Columbia Veterinary Hospital several years ago and ran it into the ground. When Columbia Vet. closed, Thrive evidently sold/transferred their patient list to Cedar Creek, who started sending us reminders that it was time for our cats to get their check-ups, shots, etc. We long ago found another local vet when Columbia was floundering and have never been to Cedar Creek, so it was galling to keep receiving these personalized reminders in the mail. (For the record, there is a 0% chance that we would ever drive all the way to Port Orchard for veterinary care.) These mailings were quite literally going on for years until I finally called Cedar creek today. The representative who answered was nice enough to take us off their mailing list. The veterinary care at Cedar Creek may be wonderful for all I know, but if you feel like you're overpaying for your vet care, know that the money isn't going to the folks who work in Port Orchard--it's going to TSG Consumer Partners in Stamford, CT. Private equity is a cancer eating the world. PE turned its attention to veterinary clinics a few years ago because it realized that because people love their pets, it represents an opportunity for extortion. I'm not sure what the solution is, but I thought that I'd take a minute to demystify things for folks not in the know. Take care, all.

After her second visit, I went in personally to provide my own details so the account could be updated to reflect me as the primary contact. Unfortunately, it seems that change was never made. When I called today to follow up about a separate issue, they couldn't even find me in their system. To make matters worse, the staff member who answered the phone--Rachel--was shockingly rude. She kept cutting me off while I was trying to explain the issue. She even asked me why my husband was listed and the reason why he had previously brought Betsy in. Which I replied "because I was at work at the time". It was clear that customer service was not a priority for her. Between the mishandling of our account and the unprofessional behavior I encountered, we've decided to take our business elsewhere. If you care about being treated with respect and having your information handled properly, I'd strongly suggest finding a different veterinary clinic.
