Skegness isn't known as a town for good real-ale pubs. There's a reason: There aren't any! The Yates Skegness is one of two (!) Cask Marque pubs in town, and it's not a great place either. The location is okay, there's very limited outside seating, the prices for drinks are reasonable, there are a couple of real ales on tap. But the food? I had the mixed grill, and it was awful! The steak, which I had ordered medium rare, was well-done and as tender as a shoe sole, the chicken dry as dust. The gammon steak was all right, so were the onion rings. But the chips had barely seen the inside of the fryer: they were soft and flabby. Not a place to have dinner! Drinks, okay. But nothing more. read more
