I'm always happy to find a knit shop in town. And Michigan shops seem to have such a wonderful variety of yarns to choose from! I headed here right after checking out of the lovely Dew Drop Inn, a motel I highly recommend if you are travelling. This store was a little hard to spot, mainly because of traffic on the main street and trying to be careful. I had to park about a block away--street parking only. It's an older building but a pretty big space with a lot of yarns and samples packed in it. I wish I'd gotten an indoor shot. I added a few skeins to my collection and got some advise on how to use some of them. I saw a pattern for a braided hat I really liked and the pattern was free with the yarn but the yarn was like $22 or so. I later found the same pattern in another store and town near Grand Rapids and they let me have the pattern with my purchase so after Xmas I want to try making it. After making my purchase I asked the lady (owner?) if there were any places she recommended to eat and she said she really liked the Cabin Creek Coffee Shop across the side street. Another score! I stopped back in here after my meal to thank her for the excellent referral. read more

I would give this store a 0 if I could. The store has a ton of stuff shoved into a tiny space. So much that it's hard to move around. Last year we walked into the store maybe 10 min before close and were immediately told that we better be quick because they were closing soon. Ok, fine. This year we walk in and my 2 year old is with us. He disappeared around the corner and came back to me to show me the pink yarn he found and he wanted me to buy. The old man in the store promptly took it from my sons hands, told my 2 year old that "little girls should keep their hands off of things and that her mom should have taught her better manners". I was shocked. My son was between me and my mother and no in any danger of touching or breaking anything other than the pink yarn he was holding in his hands and posing no danger to. I told the old man not to worry that we would gladly be leaving and he responded with "that's a good idea". This is not a child friendly store, clearly. It takes nothing of a person to be kind and this man was absolutely rude and lacked any sort of basic kindness, forget customer service! As much as he was upset about MY child lacking manners as a normal 2 year old, as an old man he clearly was never taught the same manners he was scolding my 2 year old for not having. If a grown adult can't act with empathy or kindness they don't deserve my business ever. read more
