Great specialty coffee that's freshly roasted in the store. I love their brewed coffee, preferably prepared using the Aeropress or Hario V60. They also offer insightful coffee workshops in case you want really learn more about specialty coffee. Full review on my blog.

On paper, Yardstick Coffee has everything. Great third-wave coffee, fantastic technique, good food, a wide open space, fashionable interiors, and pride in what they do. It's proximity to Your Local is also a plus in my book. And yes, they do serve a very good Flat White. I would highly recommend Yardstick to my friends, no question about that. So why don't I sound so excited? I dunno, man. There's something about Yardstick that doesn't resonate with me. If I had to provide specifics, it may have to do with its brand identity. See, I don't find Yardstick warm and cheerful at all. It's too sleek, too sharp, and the furniture is not comfortable at all. It's like you get the feeling that they want you to come in, get a coffee, and get out. I've also noticed that people tend to keep to themselves here (To be fair, Curator is also like that), as compared to the other coffee shops in Makati (Commune and Restock come to mind). Maybe Yardstick is not for interaction. Certainly nothing wrong with that. There are days I would go to a coffee place just to buckle down to work, and I would certainly think that Yardstick is brilliant if you want to keep to yourself and have great coffee. Ultimately, Yardstick is a damned good coffee place. I may not be totally onboard with their imaging, but that is solely my opinion alone.

    Lemon curd waffle. MUST GET

Sundays in Metro Manila are special: no traffic, lots of free time for most people, and just a generally laid back vibe. This place tucked away on a quiet street in Makati is the epitome of the coffeeshops you'd see on VSCOam or Instagram. Luckily the coffee and pairings they serve here live up to the hype. For something sweet but still filled with warm coffee flavor, their mocha is a must-try. For something strong and smooth, their cold brew coffee is among the better ones in Metro Manila. Their flat white is also noteworthy, but I prefer the ones from Toby's Estate. As for food offerings, I love their waffles. The pairings and flavors like lemon curd and apple pie a la mode are simple but so satisfying. Coming here to tambay or work is always a pleasure. The atmosphere is airy, hip and chill. Definitely a gem on the third wave coffee circuit.

I'm a huge fan of Yardstick Coffee. I came in for a Flat White and some waffles, and had a really good afternoon. A non-coffee drinking friend took a chance on their PB&H milkshake, which we both agreed tasted much too soulful and deep for its unassuming, all-white appearance. And you can tell that everyone who works at Yardstick actually want to be there. Andre Chanco, their "Coffee Guy" pretty much runs the place, and was very accommodating when I asked to meet with him to discuss holding an event there (they are so easy to work with). The servers/baristas know their stuff, and seem like a really happy bunch. Even their security guard seemed really happy -- we caught him dancing to some of Andre's very current, hipster music (it might have been Chvrches that he was dancing to). I'm a fan of their brews, too. I realized through Yardstick Coffee, that Ethiopia might be my favorite place of coffee origin, via Yardstick's Suke Quto blend. I was lucky to be have been able to attend one Coffee 101 workshop (the same event we asked to work with them on), and learned so much. These guys have really done their research, which I appreciate, because I feel that Manila -- a city built on fast food joints -- lacks intelligent food places like this.

Yardstick was one of my favorite places to hang out in when I wanted to relax during work days (Back when I still worked in Makati which isn't so long ago). I was lucky to have my office only a two minute walk away from Yardstick. It still is one of my favourite cafes to hang out in when I visit Legaspi Village, in Makati because of the soothing interiors and lighting of the establishment. It's perfect for work meetings, book launches, catch ups with friends, and for me, alone time. They have quite a selection of different kinds of Coffee. They have Black, White, Super White, Filter, Cold Brew, Concept Coffee, Roaster's Pick, etc. I've tried a lot of their caffeinated drinks but my two favourites are their Gibraltar and their 12 hour Cold Brew coffee (this brew is especially most effective for slow, sleepy, lazy days). They also have a waffle menu and a variety of sandwiches! Yes, waffles! Waffles and coffee, how perfect can this combination get?! They have Salted Caramel Waffles, Carmen's Best Waffles, Beef Tapa sandwiches, Three Cheese sandwiches, and many other innovative dishes! Their coffee and waffles never fail to make a bad day, much much better.

I've worked in Makati for a year and this third wave coffee shop has become my most favorite cafe in the area (or probably in the whole metro). Their coffees are really really good, one of the best I've ever had. You can totally tell that everyone here is passionate about what they do. This aesthetic place is a must for coffee lovers like me.

Yardstick coffee is in my opinion the least pretentious third wave coffee shop here. It won't confuse you with fancy interiors, vintage items and bare ceilings. Plus it serves straight-up good coffee. I really loved the cafe latte. The quality is top-notch but a lot can be said about the quantity. The serving cups in yardstick is a tad smaller than compared to what you'll see in Toby's Estate and Craft Coffee. The salted caramel waffles were also delicious. These were served with salted caramel on the side and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The waffle batter was crunchy and light, which was completely opposite of what I expected (spongy and heavy). This was definitely a plus since you're able to finish it in one go without feeling too bad about yourself. I also tried the Dear Fred coffee and beer hybrid but I still don't know how I'll feel about it. But a drink to provide the right amount of buzz and caffeine? I'm sure that some would easily sign-up.

Very cool cafe. Walked here from Greenbelt and it was very easy to find. Lots of seating. Staff are very friendly, helpful, and easy-going. Loved our food. I got the Barista's Breakfast and an iced black. Super good! I highly recommend if you're in the area!

Great coffee, great food, and great staff. Overall an amazing experience! Must try: Chicken & Waffles and Barista's Breakfast.

Their brewed coffee is good, and there is enough stuff on the menu that you can also bring your espresso beverage drinking friends.

Maybe I picked some good coffee in the latter that I really so appreciate the nutty taste in the hand brewed Brazil Cerrado. But I'd say Kuppa is just as good as Coffee Empire. The place wasn't as grand as Coffee Empire but it's just apt for a coffee place. Oh they have this bell per table that you can ring when you need their service. I thought it was fancy. Haha. I didn't explore their bar/counter where the cakes were because they handed us the menu when we took our seats. I found it very accommodating. So I tried the V60 Ethiopian Yirgacheffe *high fives for the spelling!* which the barista said had a hint of red cherry in it. I couldn't distinguish that particular taste tho. But I loved the coffee! It was fine, smooth, and light and it looked kinda reddish black in light. So we ordered Wimpy's (open faced burger in gravy and cheese sauce) and it was a delight! Also had the Tiramisu which was super small but it was neat and just the right sweetness. Not fan of their frappes/cold drinks tho. We had the Mocha Java Drink and the Barista's Secret (which was like white chocolate). I found them very smooth. I prefer a rough-textured frappe and well, I haven't had a frappe in a month so maybe my judgment was not good. Anyway, hot coffee here is better. :) I think the prices for coffee was just right but I guess the other stuff in their menu was highly overpriced. I highly recommend this place if you're within the area. But maybe not, I don't want a bunch of people crowding up the place I want to go often (talk of hipster, haha).

I liked the warm feeling it gives off because of the yellow lighting but it wasn't hot inside. Loved the cabin like style from their wooden furniture. I like their chalkboards. The place reminded me of Sagada just cause. So they had like 6+ cake flavors. I was so excited about the Rainbow Cake! It had layers of different colors. I bought a slice of this, but it wasn't extraordinary. I actually would compare it's taste to a bakery down the street. Just the colors were nice. but I won't have it again. They also had a Belgian chocolate cake which really sparked my interest. I might go back there for that. They also had strawberry cheesecake (which looked fine), Decadence cake, Carrot cake, some overly priced cupcakes (php 95 per piece!), fudge brownies (they looked inviting), and they also have oatmeal cookies! I was surprised to see that they actually do pour overs (handcrafted coffee!) which is kind of rare now. (I only had tried one other handcrafted coffee before.) That was really cool. Their brew was perfect! I loved it! It had a hint of sweetness in it (I didn't put sugar or milk) and I thought it just tasted perfect. Btw all their beans are from Jakarta, Indonesia. I'd give them a 4 for this because I think their brews, though perfectly done, were limited. I tried their latte too but I think it had too much milk for the size of 8oz. I was disappointed in it. I didn't taste much of the coffee. So I just give them 3 for the latte. They offer cold drinks too and lattes with flavors. If only I lived nearby, I'd go there and try all they put in the menu. It's a good place to work! The seats are for 2-4 people so it's nice to be alone or with a friend in a place like this, not a bunch of people tho. Plus they play smooth acoustic covers of my type of songs (e.g. Last Kiss, Chasing Cars, Need You Now...) so yayyy! This is more of a 3.7 review overall for the ambience, cake, and the latte. Hoorah for the pour overs! Hope they have more handcrafted options!

I decided to come inside and check if there was any relation between the places. Yep, there is, the barista told me. The owner's are the same. So, it's really nice to observe their "signatures" in every detail. The way I see it, the ambience is the highlight of Epic Cafe. As the name suggests, there's certainly a nostalgic atmosphere thanks mainly to the retro objects, such as an old telephone, some vinyl discs, the bikes and vintage cameras. The beverages they serve are also very good. I would totally recommend it for coffee lovers. We can notice Epic takes it seriously by taking a look on their big chalkboard . There they "teach" the customers about different kinds of coffee. I can say I've learnt a lot by reading it while enjoying my delicious salted caramel cappuccino. Staff really knows how to prepare a good coffee. So get advantage from that and ask for their signature Epic Cafe. I would say it's a perfect place to sit down with your computer or your Moleskin and just let ideas come while you drink coffee. 100% inspiring.
