Whopping retainer. Finally got a 'memo' type of response on plain white paper (and no phone number,…read moreemail, or contact info for the lawyer who did the "work" that didn't answer my questions. More than a year later and after repeated requests, I still have not received a statement/invoice/accounting of how much time they spent and no return on the balance from my retainer. None of the US phone numbers work and when I called France, Msr Hourcade answered "hello" on the phone - obviously no staff working there. He told me the 'associate' who did the work would call me and give me the info. She didn't. I had to tell him my name and contact info which he didn't even ask for. I don't understand since he's on CNN frequently but I'm guessing I will never see my 'unused' retainer refunded and I am livid after repeated tries to get a client statement from him. Since he's on the list of 'approved' law firms recommended by the US Consulate in France, I'm going to notify them of what my problem is.
