My child has been attending Yachaywasi for over a year and just started his second year. As an educator myself, I was intentional about what I looked for before enrolling him. 1. The Staff Ms. Monica and Ms. Nancy have both been teaching at Yachay for over 8 years. That kind of consistency speaks volumes about the school's supportive environment, low turnover, and commitment to quality care and education. 2. Curriculum and SEL The school follows a clear scope and sequence for the year and thoughtfully integrates social-emotional learning into daily routines. For example, my son received a laminated "feelings chart" connected to read-alouds during circle time. He also practices mindfulness and breathing through yoga. On top of that, they offer affordable extracurriculars such as gym and music. 3. Food My son genuinely enjoys the meals and snacks, which is a huge plus. 4. Family Events Families are invited to celebrate birthdays and attend special events like dance performances, which creates a strong sense of community. 5. I have nothing but great reviews about this place. They don't advertise and I found them after looking at over 17 preschools. They just happen to be down the street from us which makes it obviously very convenient, but this truly is a wonderful little school. There's not a lot of kids which means the teachers can really pay attention to their development. The Spanish immersion is really great because this is the perfect age for them to learn another language. The owner is very understanding when things don't go as planned and will work with you. My daughter quickly loved it and speaks of her teachers often. They also offer a camp during traditional school breaks which is helpful for working parents. read more

Our 2 year old son has been attending Yachaywasi Spanish Immersion daycare / preschool for awhile now, and I could not recommend them more.... Our son is blossoming in language, education, play, social skills, and emotional support with the fantastic and caring staff we trust him with so much. Karina, Nancy and Monica are truly invested with each child and nurturing all the way through, down to the healthy homemade meals and snacks they carefully prepare and provide to the little ones throughout the day. They even have special lessons where musicians and other varying instructors come and introduce the children to new activities and skills, like instruments, song, dance, and gymnastics! My son really enjoys these activities and all of the outdoor play they get throughout the day. The school also acknowledges and celebrates varying holidays and culturally significant days and practices like Dia De Los Muertos, where they created an ofrenda for students to learn about the important traditions of the day. They hosted a Thanksgiving potluck where the families got to attend and bring food and share together.... these are just a couple examples of the types of experiences you can expect.I just feel the effort and love they pour into all they do and appreciate how they go outside of just day-to-day activities to really involve and immerse the students and families as one. The staff really gets the parents involved, sending constant feeding, napping, diaper changing and observation posts through their app, keeping us connected and aware all day long. This is absolute peace of mind! They also post about what lessons and activities the children are learning and involved in and send picture / video updates throughout the day. The staff are just a message away and it is so reassuring to be able to communicate easily with our son's caretakers. They also send little at home assignments we can do with our kids every now and then, like coloring activities, to keep us involved and keep us up with what they are getting into. It was so important for us to find the right environment for our son and after looking at many options, my husband and I both agreed this was the only way forward for us and we haven't been disappointed! - It's been an absolute delight hearing our sweet boy come home saying all new words and with excitement talking about his day. Outside of the amazing staff, offerings and care, proximity was a huge factor in our decision-making. They are only about a 15 minute walk from us in mid-city and having our son close was extremely important to us. My son went to Yachaywasi and my daughter goes here currently. This is such a cute school! They feed your kids healthy , homecooked food everyday, have the kids sit together so they can practice table manners, they get tons of outdoor time, they dance and sing songs, and the teachers are so caring towards the children. My daughter has been attending Yachaywasi for about a year now and WOW has she developed!! Her social skills are amazing and the level of independence has increased dramatically! Aside from the obvious benefit of her speaking/understanding Spanish, Yachaywasi is very inclusive. They teach the kiddos about all holidays and create activities to learn about each one. She gets plenty of Vitamin D since they tend to do many outdoor activities like yoga and gardening. The entire staff is so kind and my daughter can't get enough of them. This review is for the Highland campus. Our daughter started at 1 1/2 yrs old at this location right when it opened. She is now 4 1/2 and in her last year at the school. Starting our daughter out in a Spanish program is a decision I will always be proud of. She spoke fluent Spanish before English, and the environment, especially communication with the teachers, really gave that extra language support. The teachers have all been so wonderful. Especially Soledad, who runs this location. The environment is wholesome and warm. I love the non pretentious vibe. The kids have a freedom to express themselves creatively here. My son attends this school. They provide a great caring, loving environment . Believe it or not they they actually do educate these little ones, it's not just socialization. All done in Spanish my son has learned math , reading , writing. He has learned about the Mayan Indians , bird species, dinosaurs and many other subjects . Highly recommend! We have had both of our kids here since 18 months old at the Olympic location. The school has a wonderful curriculum and caring, stable and warm teachers who keep the kids happy, engaged and safe. They only speak Spanish which we believe is very important for second language acquisition. We consider our eldest (3) to be bilingual and youngest (2) to understand everything in Spanish. The owner, Karina, is always receptive to adapting to parents needs and available without limitation to assist with concerns. We love that our kids have chinese class and soccer as enrichment as well as a variety of other classes. The kids eat all of their meals at school which makes our weekdays very easy. After moving from an east coast city and have both our children come from a much larger preschool, we were not too sure what to expect. Our kids absolutely loved the smaller, much more nurturing, warm environment. It took a bit of time for them to fully embrace a second language, but that didn't bother them at all! We absolutely love this school! My son went there starting at 2 1/2. He has great comprehension and speaks Spanish amazingly well even though we don't speak Spanish at home. It's a warm environment with kind and supportive teachers. The smell of home cooked food fills the air. The director of the school runs it so well and does a great job communicating with parents. Along with being completely immersed in the language, the kids learn writing, math, gardening, yoga, music, social studies, and science. Yachaywasi is a wonderful bilingual preschool in the Miracle Mile area. Director and staff are all very friendly and great with children. Being a product of a bilingual school when I was a child, I know the importance of learning a second language, especially at a young age. I couldn't be happier with my experience with Yachaywasi preschool so far. My two-Year old started going there just two weeks ago, but I've seen so much development in the last few days that I'm amazed. She has had a lot of changes this year since she recently had a baby sister. I thought that starting preschool would be a difficult transition for her. But she seems so happy and excited about going to school that makes me very happy and at peace. The teachers and the owner, Karina, are loving, caring, professional and attentive to the kids and parents' needs. I like that they follow the Montessori approach and that their teaching methodology is based on games and fun activities such as music, yoga, gardening and painting. It's really a relief to find a good, enriching environment for my kid to grow snd develop during this important stage of life. I speak Spanish and it's very important to me that she's bilingual. This place is a HAPPY place! It's wonderful in every way. My daughter loves coming here, she asks about playing with the kids when she's not there and would like to be there more often. Our daughter goes there from 8am-6pm a couple times a week and we plan on increasing soon. She's 2.8 months, so can communicate well. Just after a 3-4 weeks, she started speaking more Spanish, which elates me. The teachers are great at communicating with me regarding what she's accomplished, funny things and keeping track of her things and her habits, which I appreciate. They have a fun, creative, educational program (grouped by age) and plenty of play time, feed the kiddos with plenty of snacks and nap time. We recently attended their Father's Day celebration, which involved a cute show w/ the kids singing songs with cute mustache and tie, singing about "I want to be like my papa" in Spanish and a lunch afterwards. It was adorable and nice to meet other parents! They have summer camps as well with weekly themes for the pre-schoolers and non-students at their new Highland and Beverly location (google Ola Spanish for details). I like this idea to socialize with different kids and the variety they offer. I was referred to Yachay Wasi by another mom who said I'd love it, and I do! Everyone is caring, loving and respectful with the children and all the kids seem to have a blast and love being there. My daughter doesn't want to leave, even after 10 hours! So what can we say? My daughter attended Yachaywasi for about 2 years, from the age of 2-4. The first thing we noticed about Yachaywasi was the homey atmosphere - we were greeted by fantastic home cooking made from scratch. Our daughter loved her time at Yachaywasi and bonded greatly with her friends and teachers there. This school was a wonderful introduction to Spanish immersion for a child who had never spoken Spanish before. She has since moved on to Spanish immersion public school, where she feels right at home with the language. One of the best things about Yachaywasi is that Spanish is integrated into every aspect of kids' lives. Kids are cooking, cleaning, painting, counting and learning in Spanish - they enjoy what they're doing and learn Spanish along the way! We love this place! The teachers are extremely caring! They coordinate tons of activities for the kids (gardening, composting, field trips, music class, cooking class, singing / putting on musicals around the holidays, story time, craft time). My son gets home cooked meals from scratch at school that the teachers prepare and eats a much greater variety and amount of food than he would normally at home. We love Yachaywasi! Our older son has been there for almost a year and he is fluent in Spanish before his third birthday!! My wife and I are "high-school-class" fluent at best, so this is an amazing advantage for our son. The teachers here care so much, and we feel like it is an extension of our family.
