The one request they helped with was to deliver extra pillows when asked but pillows had no pillowcases. Was told they did not have any extras. Other people we were traveling with also asked for an extra pillow. They were told to pull the pillow inserts out of the one pillow they had to make two pillows. A shelf also fell off the wall and landed on my foot. The staff was not concerned this happened with the exception of the woman who swept up the area. She was at least pleasant. Last comment is that the street noise is very loud and makes it difficult to sleep.

If you're looking for a place to stay that is close to the pyramids, I highly encourage you to book your stay at Hotel Palmas. The convenience of the location to the pyramids is about a 7 minute drive. The food is also amazing! I was able to try a variety of their plates throughout my stay and enjoyed every single meal. For breakfast, they have a buffet style breakfast such as your fruits, cereal, chilaquiles, pozole, and more! This place is an oasis with so much greenery and perfect for those looking for some downtime. From relaxing at the puente del amor to having a michelada at the bar and enjoying everything the hotel has to offer. The rooms are clean and the water is perfect. Not once did I experience an issue here. The beds are comfortable and there are TV's in the rooms as well. The hotel is extremely spacious, they even have a salon that you can rent for your special occasions. They have a small playground for the little ones as well. You might find this online under a new name when you book it- Villas Teotihuacan Hotel & Spa. It…read moremight be confusing when you tell your tour guide where to pick you up, they all know the old name. It's about 30 miles from Ciudad De Mexico, about an hour drive, but call them or email Recepcion@villasteo.com for more info on how to get there, they gave us the number of their preferred driver who picked us up in the city. They have late check in available, so it's OK if you get there in the evening, after you explore Mexico City or something. The main advantage here is that it's literally walking distance to Gate 1 entrance to the pyramids, close to the smaller Feathered Serpent, close and safe to walk. The staff is helpful and polite, and most speak English. They have a restaurant with a cabana by a shallow pool, that is open till late, but also opens late, at 7am. They also have a travel agent, so you can ask for local tours available. The rooms are cozy but functional, you have a small TV and a heater, even a safe box. The major draw back was that there was no coffee machine in the room and their restaurant opens at 7am, so we couldn't get any coffee early before our tour guides picked us up.

Sadly, this is probably the best hotel option in downtown, Tlaxcala but next time I'll take my chances on an Airbnb.

I was between giving this a 4 and a 5 because it wasn't perfect, but frankly the staff was EXCELLENT so I decided to round up. The pros: 1) Seriously one of the best hotel staffs I've experienced. They were extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We actually got put in a room with an odd sulfur smell first and they moved us immediately and apologized profusely. We had no issues after. They were really prompt at getting our car from the valet, too. 2) Fantastic breakfast buffet, and to add to the excellent staff service, we were uncomfortable eating in the dining room because of Covid and it was quite full, and they served us at the pool where no one else was and it was airy. Really awesome. The food was delicious, especially the tamal and the cannelloni. 3) Every inch of the hotel is beautiful, from the lobby to the dining room to the side rooms to the pool to the outdoors spaces. Cons: 1) The beds are quite hard. If you need a soft bed, this spot isn't for you. I wasn't nuts about the bed but tbh everywhere I've stayed in Mexico has had a hard bed so idk if there's much I can do about that. 2) There were no hangers in our room. We didn't bother asking for them but honestly it's plausible someone stole them because unfortunately people do that. Check in with them on that if you don't have any in your room. 3) The wifi is TERRIBLE. Truly awful. Don't expect to be able to work here if that's what you're trying to do. It disconnects every ten min or so and barely works. I know these cons should bring this to a 4.... But I can't. The staff was amazing and made up for it.
